SDX-DM ELECTRONIC FAN SPEED
CONTROLLER
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
e SDX-DM series are electronic fan speed controllers, which allow you to manually
adjust the rotational speed of single phase AC motors by varying the motor voltage
through phase angle control. e output can be regulated from minimum to maximum
or from maximum to minimum. e operating mode can be selected via Modbus
RTU. e controller is suitable for both inset (IP44) and surface mounting (IP54). All
parameters and settings can be adjusted via Modbus RTU communication.

NOTE In Active mode the regulated output can be controlled by the potentiometer or via
a dedicated Modbus register (in this case a Modbus safety timeout is available). If
the Modbus RTU communication is lost, a timeout can be set in Modbus Holding
register 8 and a timer can be started. In both active and standby mode, the start-
up type can be kick start or soft start.
ATTENTION Protection against overheating is included in case an external load is connected
to the output or if the controller is operating at higher temperature. When the
overheating protection is activated, the regulated output will be turned off and
the status of overheating will be displayed in a Modbus register (Input register
10). e device will resume operation when the overheating condition is resolved.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
ATTENTION Use only tools and equipment with non-conducting handles when working on
electrical devices.
e controller is to be used only with voltage controllable fans/ motors. You can
connect several motors to the controller as long as the current limit is not exceeded.
e motor should be protected against overheating.
e minimum speed trimmer should be adjusted so that the motor cannot stall at
minimum speed. e controller restarts after power failure.
In case of faulty operation
Please check if:
■the right voltage is applied
■all connections are correct
■the machine to be regulated is functioning
