5:
(a) Mix the concrete in a wheelbarrow following the instructions
on the packaging of the Concrete Mix.
(b) Fill the hole with concrete and stop when the concrete
is 4" from the bottom of the round plate of the Spectra
In-Ground Fitting (IR).
(c) Replace a layer soil before replacing the sod if mounted in
a grassy area.
NOTE: If not mounting in a grassy area, the concrete may be
poured until level with the top plate of the In-Ground Fitting .
3:
The top plate of the In-Ground Fitting has four (4) tapped
holes. Two (2) of the tapped holes should be aligned SQUARE
to whatever you are aligning the Spectra Round Umbrella with.
For example, your house, edge of patio, etc., as shown in the
diagram to the left.
4:
(a) Stick the piece of Iron Rebar connected to the Spectra
In-Ground Fitting (IR) into the ground near the center of
the hole.
(b) Align the tapped holes by rotating as necessary. See
alignment instructions in step B3.
(c) With a carpenter's level or straight edge, make sure
the top plate is flush with the subsoil.
(d) Ensure the top plate is level by placing the Carpenters
Level in two directions 90° to each other. Continue to make
adjustments until the plate is perfectly level.
2:
(a) Hammer several lengths of Iron Rebar into the sides
of the hole at varying angles around the hole. There should be
a minimum of one length pointing in each wind direction. This
process anchors the concrete to the subsoil and prevents it
from becoming loose in the hole over time.
(b) Prepare to install the Rotational In-Ground Fitting (IR) by
attaching a length of Iron Rebar to the tube of the In-Ground
Fitting with duct tape. IMPORTANT: Tape both sides of the
tapped holes to prevent concrete from getting in the threads.
