Important Safety Instructions

5) Do not use this apparatus near water.

1.1 PLAYABLE DISK TYPES
The following typesof disks canplay in theREF player:
1. OVERVIEW
This BD playerhas the capabilityof providing high-definition,cinema-like pictures and
multi-channel audio. Soundtracks in more than one language are usually included on
the disk, andsubtitles in morelanguages are oftenincluded as well.

NOTES:
For writeable DVD disks ( DVD-RW, DVD-R)
Only DVD-RW/-R recorded with UDF or ISO9660 format can be played back.
The disks must be finalized, VR-mode.
Playback may not work for some types of disks, or when specific operations, such as
angle change and aspect ratio adjustment, are being performed. Information about
the disks is written in detail on the box. Please refer to this if necessary.
Some DVD-VR disks will be playable but not all features are available.
For writeable CD disks
Only CD-R/-RW media recorded with UDF or ISO9660 format can be played, and they
must be finalized.
1.2 REGION CODE
If the Regionnumber of aBD or DVDdisk does notcorrespond to theregion number of
this Blu-ray diskplayer, theBD player cannotplay the disk. The region code is printed
on the rearpanel of theBD Player.

3.3.2. Stereo Audio Outputs
These are analog,“old fashioned”stereo (left/right) outputs.If your TV does nothave
an HDMI input,you can connectthese outputs tothe stereo audio inputs of a TV.
3.3.3. Composite Video
If your TV does nothave component orHDMI video inputs,connect this outputto the
composite video inputof the television.
3.3.4. HDMI 1.3Audio/Video Output
If you areusing a surround-soundaudio receiver with an HDMI input, connect
the HDMI outputof the BDplayer to theHDMI input of the audio receiver. (You will need
to connect asecond HDMI cablefrom the HDMIoutput of the audio receiver to the HDMI
input of thetelevision)
If your surround-soundaudio receiver doesnot have anHDMI input (orif you are not
using a surround-sound receiver), connectthis output directlyto the HDMIinput of the
TV. One of theother audio outputscan be connectedto the audio receiver.
3.3.5. Ethernet Connector
For BD-Live only, use anEthernet cable toconnect this connectorto access Ethernet
while playing BD-Livedisk.
3.3.6. USB 2.0Connector
Used for externalUSB memory access, play supported audio/videofiles on USBmemory
or store downloadcontent into USBmemory for BD-Live

4.Random
Used for randomplayback of audiofiles on disk.(Not
available on alldisks).
5.Menu
Pressing this keywill immediately stopplayback, and
bring up themain or 'top'menu of theBD or DVDdisk.
(Not available onall disks)In themain menu, youcan
typically choose subtitlelanguage, audio track,or
different scene etc.
6.Colour Keys
The red, green,yellow, andblue keys areused to
implement disk-specific featureson some BDdisks.
(Not available onall disks).
7.Secondary Subtitle
Used to bringup the subtitle(if available) forthe picture-
in-picture (director's commentary, etc) ona BD title.If
the disk hasmore than onedirector's commentary
subtitle language, itcan also beused to cyclethrough
the subtitle languages.(Not available onall disks).

8.Bonus View
On BD disks,this button isused to turnthe video portionof the director'scommentary
(picture-in-a-picture) on andoff. (Not available on alldisks).
Note: Director's commentarymust have beenturned on inthe BD's mainmenu in
order for thiskey to work.
9.Menu Navigation Keys
These keys areused when navigatingthe menus onBD and DVDs.They are also
used for navigatingthe setup menusfor the BDplayer.
10.DISPLAY
Press this buttonto show currentplay status andtime information.
11.SLOW
Pressing this buttonwill cause thevideo to beplayed at 1/2,1/4, 1/8 speed.
12.NEXT
Press this buttonto play nexttitle, chapter,track or fileif valid.
13.PREV
Press this buttonto play previoustitle, chapter,track or fileif valid.
14.MUTE
Pressing this buttonto avoid audiooutput, pressing theMUTE button againwill
resume audio output.
15.Play/Pause
Pressing the bottomof this buttonwill pause audioand video playback.Pressing the
top of thisbutton will resumeplayback.

This button stopsplayback of aBD/DVD movie orfiles on disk.
17. CLEAR
When entering numericvalues via thenumeric keypad ,this button isused to cleara
number entered incorrectly.
18.GOTO
This button isused with thenumeric keypad tojump to aspecific track onan audio CD.
19. STANDBY
Press the STANDBY button to turn theBD player onor off.
Note: Press STANDBY key during system (about20s) startup willbe no effect.
Press STANDBY key during system ison, system willenter low powerstandby
mode in about6s.
20.Angle
Some BD andDVDs are filmedwith more thanone camera angle. During playback
of such adisk, pressing thisbutton will allowyou to switchcamera angles. (Not
available on alldisks)
21.Pop Menu/Title
On BD disksonly, this button canbe used tobring up themain movie menu.(Not
available on alldisks).
22.Secondary Audio
On BD disksequipped with multipledirector's commentaries inseveral languages,
pressing this keywill cycle throughall of thelanguages available forthe director's
commentaries. (Not availableon all disks).
23.Setup
Bring out thesettings menu ofthe BD player. This key will notwork during diskplay-
back
24. Step
Pressing this buttonwill play movieby one frame.
25.Fast Reverse
Used to “FastReverse” during contentplayback .
26.Fast Forward
Used to “FastForward” during contentplayback.
27.Volume
Pressing the top(+) half ofthis button willincrease the volumeof the BDplayer's
audio output. Pressingthe bottom (-)half of thisbutton will decreasethe volume of
the BD player'saudio output.
28.Numeric Keypad
These buttons areused with theGOTO button to jump tospecific title/chapter (track)
or time.
29.REPEAT
This button isused to cyclethrough the possible“repeat”modes based oncontent
played.

30.A-B
When a diskis playing, pressingthis button oncewill save a“start point” forrepeating
playback. Pressing thisbutton again toselect a “endpoint” then playbackwill repeat

When navigating fileson a dataCD or USBstick, pressing thisbutton will returnyou
to the previousfolder or menu.

5.2Display
5.2.1 TV Type: Select to output NTSC or PAL video format .
5.2.2 Resolution: Setmaximum resolution of your TV here to getbest video quantity,
if you arenot sure, pleaseuse HDMI Auto, system will read the preferred
resolution your TV supported viaEDID.
5.2.3 TV Aspect: Selectright video ratiobased on yourTV.( Refer tobelow table)
Note: Aspectsetting only effect HDMI and component output, and 4:3 setting has
no effect if resolution hasbeen set to720p or 1080ior1080p).
Note:4:3PS and 4:3LBonly valid under SD mode (resolution is 480p/576p or 480i/576i).
5.2.4 Film Mode:system will output 1080p 24Hz if this item is set to ON and disk
movies are recordedon film at rate of 24 frames per second.
Note: this itemonly effect when Resolution isset to 1080p,and make sureyour TV can
support 1080P24Hz mode.

5.3.2 Digital Output:
If you onlyhave two speakers,set PCM stereo.
If you connectreceiver with morethan two speakers,please refer tobelow tables:
5.3.3 Dynamic RangeControl: means that youcan allow theBD player tomake the loud
parts of amovie'saudio track quieterthan they wouldbe in thetheatre, without
making the dialogof theactors anyquieter. (Iteffects on analog audio output and
digital output shouldbe set toPCM or BitstreamMixed).
5.3 Audio
5.3.1 PCM Downsampling:select right bitratefor PCM signalto ensure yourSPDIF
receiver can handleit correctly. It's noeffect for HDMI digital audiooutput.

5.4.2 BD-Live InternetAccess: ControlBD player accessinginternet
Limit access :Only allow theinserted Blu-Ray diskto download contentfrom a
BD-Live website whichhas a validonline certificate. This will reducethe chances
of downloading maliciouscontent onto theplayer.
Always allow access: Allow the BDthe inserted Blu-Raydisk to accesscontent
from all BD-Liveinternet sites whoseinternet address isencoded onto thedisk.
There is no danger ofmalicious code downloadfrom valid commercialBD disks,
but choosing thisoption and downloadingBD-live content viaillegally authored
BD disks, ordisks obtained fromquestionable sources, couldresult in malicious
code being downloadedonto the player.
Prohibit access :Blocks the insertedBlu-Ray disk fromaccessing BD-Live content
over the internet.
5.4.3 BD-Live Storage:
Show BD-Live storageinformation, select storagedevice to clearBlu-ray storage.
5.4.4 Screen SaverDuration:
This BD player will activate screen saver modeby shutting videooutput (TV will
go “Blank”) aftercertain period oftime set bythis item whensystem is playing
music file orin stop/fullstop mode.
5.4.5 Erase Blu-RayStorage: Clear Blu-Ray storage.
5.4.6 CEC support:
Set this itemto enable/disable CEC:
The CEC feature is designedto allow CEC-enableddevices to commandand
control each otherwithout user intervention.For example: Ifyour TV is also CEC
-enabled and youwill turn off your TV,the Blu-Ray playerwill get aCEC signal
and turn off automatically. Or ifyou turn onyour Blu-Ray player, your TV will
automatically turn onand switch toHDMI input.
Note: Not everyCEC-Enabled unit iscompatible with thisunit.
5.4.7 Reset Settings:
Reset all settingsto factory default(Parental Control levelwill not bereset).
5.5 Network
Press “ENTER” buttonwhen the itemis highlighted, thenselect “ WIRED”to config
network:
5.5.1 Link Status:
Show if ethernetcable is connectedto BD player.
5.5.2 MACAddress
Show MAC addressof this BDplayer.
5.5.3 IP Mode
Choose IP mode here forinternet access. Choosing“Manual” mode, 4.5.5~ 4.5.8
will be activatedfor user input,otherwise they areinactivated.
5.5.4 IP Address:
Show current IPaddress or accessuser input whilein “Manual” IPmode.
5.5.5 Subnet Mask:
Show current SubnetMask or accessuser input whilein “Manual” IPmode.
5.5.6 Gateway:
Show current Gatewayor access userinput while in“Manual” IP mode.
5.5.7 Primary DNS:
Show current PrimaryDNS or accessuser input whilein “Manual” IPmode.
5.4 System
5.4.1 Optical DiscAuto Play: This option is used totell the BDplayer whether or not to
start loading themain title menu of a disk as soon as the disk tray is closed.

5.7 Parental
5.7.1 Parental Country:
Use this menuitem to tell the BD player what country you are in.(Currently this
menu item hasno effect)
5.7.2 Parental Control:
To turn parentalcontrol ON or OFF,
5.7.3 Parental Level:
To restrict playbackof disks encoded with a rating level equal to or higher than the
level you set.Parental Control must be turned on for this menu item to have an
affect
5.7.4 Parental Password:
Change new passwordfor Parental Controlmenu operation. (Default value is: 6666)
5.8 Speaker
Set this menuproperly for analogaudio output.
If there areonly 2 speakers,just keep FrontL-R as “large”,set others to“Off”
If there aremore speakers connectedthrough amplifier,set Front L-Rset to “Large”,
others you canset to “Large”or “Small”, andturn Subwoofer to“On”. Only whenthe
source content with5.1CH or 7.1CHaudio stream, playercan output 5.1CHor 7.1
