Congratulations on purchasing your Sievert torch kit. You have
purchased a first class product, and used correctly it will serve
you for many years to come. Please read these instructions first,
to ensure the maximum lifetime for your equipment. You will
need to purchase either an 11kg, 19kg or 47kg Propane cylinder
from your local LPG dealer.
Assembly
Ensure all parts are in good condition. Ensure all bull nose
connections are clean & undamaged. Tighten all connections
with spanners. (PMPX, PMPHX, P9RFMAN1X & P9RFMAN2X -
Check that the necessary washers are in place and are in good
condition)
Connection to a gas supply
Make sure the torch control valve and the cylinder valve are
turned off. Connect to a suitable gas cylinder and tighten all
connections with spanners. Open the cylinder valve and if fitted
press the black button on the Hose Failure Valve to charge the
system. Check for leaks with leak detecting fluid. Do this every
time the equipment is used.
NEVER CHECK FOR LEAKS USING A NAKED FLAME
Operation
Single valve torches: With a match or lighter ready, open the
torch control valve to allow a small flow of gas and light the edge
of the burner. (Newly assembled systems may take a few
moments to light due to air in the pipe) Once the burner is lit, the
control valve can be opened to allow the required level of flame.
Double valve torches: With a match or light ready, open the large
main valve and then open the smaller pilot valve. Light the
burner and adjust the pilot flame to the desired size. NB it must
not be sooty. Pull the trigger and adjust the main flame to the
desired size with the larger main valve. When the trigger is
released the flame returns to the “pilot flame” size.
To shut off the torch, first close the cylinder valve allowing the
flame to die. NB. This may take a while depending on the length
of hose or the burner in use. Then close the torch control valve(s)
Disassembly and Storage
With the cylinder valve closed, disconnect the torch kit from the
cylinder. Never transport the cylinder with the torch kit attached.
Safety Instructions
Always use and store in a well ventilated area, ensuring that
there is an adequate permanent ventilation. Never use or store
a cylinder below ground. Site the cylinder away from any heat
source. Always use, store and transport the cylinder in the
upright position.
Fire
In the event of a fire, keep the cylinder upright, if possible turn
off the cylinder valve and extinguish the fire using a dry powder
extinguisher. Never use a water jet on an LPG fire. If in any
doubt, move all people away from the area and call the fire
brigade.
Servicing and maintenance
Check the kit regularly and maintain in a clean and undamaged
condition. The kit must be maintained by a responsible person.
If in any doubt, consult your equipment supplier for advice,
spares or repair.
