InstallingAdapterintoPCIslot
Step 1:Turnoff thepowertothePC.
Step 2:Removeanymetal decorationsfromyourhandsandwrists.
Step 3:RemovethecoverfromyourPC.
Step 4:Locatean empty,non-sharedbusmastering32-bitand64-
bitPCI
slotandremovethecorrespondingbackplate.Savethescrewfor
useinStep 6.

Donotinstalltheadapter inashared PCIslot.AvoidanyPCIslotnextto
anISA slotbecausethisisoftenashared slotanddoesnotsupportbus
mastering.

Ifyouhaveproblemsinidentifyingasuitable slot,checkyourPC
documentationoraskyoursystemadministratorforhelp.
Step 5:
Carefullyinserttheadapterintothechosen slotandpress firmly
withproperalignment toensureit isfullyseated in theslot.
Step 6:Securetheadapterwiththescrewyousavedin step4.
Step 7:ReplacethePCcover.
Step 8:Proceed tothe“ConnectingtoYourNetwork”section.

Thissectiondescribeshowtoconnecttheadaptertoafiberwire-
basedGigabit F
iberEthernet network,whichcontributestoits
optimalperformance.

Youmustconnect theadapter tothenetworkbeforeinstallingthe
networkdriver.
Step 1:Removetheprotectivecoversfromtheadapter’sconnector.
Step 2:PrepareaFibernetw
orkcablewithcorrespondingSCconnectors
forthetwoend devices,oneendtotheadapterandtheothertoa
SCportontheGigabit switch.
Step 3:Connectthefibercabletotheconnectorontheadapter.
Step 4:ConnecttheotherendofthenetworkcabletoaGigabit switch.
Step 5:
Whenthecableisproperlyconnected tothetwoenddevices, turn
on thepowertothePC.
Step 6:
Check theLNK/ACT(Link/Activity)LED.TheLEDwill comeon
when theadapterisreceivingagoodlinksignal fromthe
connected device.
Step 7:
Proceed tothenextsection forinstructionson installing the
networkdriver.
