SOLAR BATTERY BACK-UP USER’S MANUAL
Design for solar fountain pump
Item No.: Aquajet-Pro-Kit-9V-Battery
1. OVERVIEW
1 This special solar battery back-up is designed specifically for solar fountain pump. It
can store solar energy for day or night use.
2 The input power should be from a solar module or DC power supply with an output
voltage of 8V-9V.
3 The battery back-up has built-in functions of overcharging and over discharging
protection.
4 There is a bicolor LED light indicating the working status of the battery back-up. The
GREEN shows the battery is in normal operating status, while the RED shows the
battery is in low voltage status, which requires the battery to be recharged.
5 Timing function is added to the battery back-up to decrease the energy
consumption in cloudy days or winter. The pump works 10 minutes every hour if the
timing function is enabled by placing the timer switch to “Timer On” position.
6 To get different pump performances, the output voltage can be adjusted in the range
of 6V-9V through the potentiometer.
2. ASSEMBLING & OPERATION
1
1 Loosen the screws on the
underside of the housing and
remove the cover from the battery box.
2 Place the electrical connector on the red (brown cable onto the positive terminal of the rechargeable battery. See
the figure above.
3 Place the cover back on the battery box and tighten the screws.
4 Connect the INPUT cable of the battery back-up to the solar module or a DC power supply, and tighten the
protection screw if applicable.
5 Insert the pump plug to the OUTPUT socket of the battery back-up, and also tighten the protection screw.
6 Make sure to place the pump fully underwater when the pump operates.
7 Turn the “On/Off” switch on the battery to the “ON” position. The bicolor status LED shows green and the solar
pump starts to operate. The pump ma not work and the status LED ma show red when the batter operates
for the first time, since the batter ma lose its energ in the inventor . It just needs to be charged for 2 to 3
hours in the sunshine b facing the solar panel towards the sun, then the status LED shows green and the
pump starts to work.
8 The pump will automatically stop running while the battery is discharged to its low limit voltage, and the status LED
shows red in the meantime.
9 The status LED stays in red before the battery is recharged to its starting voltage. After recharged to its starting
voltage, the battery shall continue to be charged for an extra half hour with the status LED flashing red-green twice
every 10 seconds. Then the pump automatically operates and the status LED shows green again.
10 The “Timer on/Timer off” switch switches the pump running mode between "intermittent mode" and "continuous
mode". In the “intermittent mode” (i.e., “Timer On” , a build-in timer is enabled to run the pump 10 minutes per hour
to save the energy, and it is especially useful in winter or on cloudy days. In the "continuous mode" mode, the build
in timer is disabled and the pump shall run continuously.
11 If you want the pump to have longer operating time in the evenings or on cloudy days, then turn the ”On/Off” switch

to “Off” position during the day time and turn it to “On” position whenever you need.
Note:
*Item 1) , 2) and 3) appl onl to first time use of the batter ,please also refer to the special menu for first
time use.
*The batter will alwa s be charged in the sunlight no matter whether the switch has been turned to “On” or
“Off”! And the s stem will automaticall cut off the charging current while the batter is charged to its high
limit voltage (full charged).
*Adjusting the potentiometer of batter backup to reach a higher output voltage will get a better
performance, however it will shorten the total pump operating time as the larger the working voltage of the
pump is, the more power the pump will consume.
3. CAUTIONS
1)Do not charge the solar battery back-up by any AC power supply directly; it is designed ONLY for DC power.
2)Do not leave this battery back-up in bad ambient environment.
3)Do not leave the battery back-up in direct blazing sunlight or expose it to extremes of heat or cold, which can affect
its service life. If possible place the battery in the shadow of the solar panel or your house or even a tree etc.
4)Do not dip this battery back-up into water.
4. TROUBLE SHOOTING
If the status LED shows red always and the pump does not operate even though the solar module is in full sunlight,
please check the possible failures below:
1 No connection to the solar module—check connection to the solar module.
2 Check if the “Timer On/Off” switch is on.
Please note in this mode the pump runs
intermittently, i.e., 10 minutes per hour to
save the energy.
3 Please turn off the “On/Off” switch of battery
backup to keep the pump staying in non-
working mode. Then charge the battery
backup in direct sunlight for two days. When
it's charged fully, turn on the “On/Off” switch
to run the pump.
4 The battery is out of its service life and needs
to be replaced. Alternatively you may bypass
the battery backup and connect the solar
panel directly to the pump, i.e., the pump will
be driven directly by the solar panel.
Replace the battery by following the steps
shown in the right photos:
