Battery Pack Safety Warnings
WARNING Before using battery pack,
read all instructions and
cautionary markings on battery pack, battery
charger, and tools using battery. Failure to
follow the warnings and instructions may
result in electric shock, re and/or serious
injury.
Recharge only with the charger specied by
the manufacturer. A charger that is suitable
for one type of battery pack may create a risk
of re when used with another battery pack.
Know your power tool. Read the operator’s
manual carefully. Learn the tool’s applications
and limitations, as well as the specic potential
hazards related to this tool. Following this rule
will reduce the risk of electric shock, re, or
serious injury.
When battery pack is not in use, keep it away
from other metal objects like paperclips,
coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metal
objects that can make a connection from
one terminal to another. Shorting the battery
terminals together may cause burns or a re.
Do not open the battery. There is risk of a
short circuit.
Battery tools do not have to be plugged into an
electrical outlet; they are always in operating
condition. Be aware of possible hazards when
not using your battery tool or when changing
accessories. Following this rule will reduce the
risk of electric shock, re or serious personal
injury.
Do not place battery tools or their batteries
near re or heat. This will reduce the risk of
explosion and possible injury.
Do not crush, drop or damage the battery
pack. Do not use a battery pack or charger that
has been dropped or received a sharp blow.
A damaged battery is subject to explosion.
Properly dispose of a dropped or damaged
battery immediately.
Batteries vent hydrogen gas and can explode
in the presence of a source of ignition, such
as a pilot light. To reduce the risk of serious
personal injury, never use any cordless
product in the presence of open ame. An
exploded battery can propel debris and
chemicals. If exposed, ush with water
immediately.
Do not charge the battery in a damp or wet
location. Following this rule will reduce the risk
of electric shock.
For best results, your battery should be
charged in a location where the temperature
is greater than 41°F (5°C) and less than 104°F
(40°C). Do not store outside or in vehicles.
Under extreme usage or temperature
conditions, battery leakage may occur. If
liquid comes in contact with your skin, wash
immediately with soap and water, then
neutralize with lemon juice or vinegar. If liquid
gets in your eyes, ush them with clean water
for at least 10 minutes, then seek immediate
medical attention. Following this rule will
reduce the risk of serious personal injury.
Do not let gasoline, oils, petroleum-based
products, etc., come in contact with plastic
parts. These substances contain chemicals
that can damage, weaken or destroy plastic.
Save these instructions. Refer to them
frequently and use them to instruct others
who may use this tool. If you lend someone
this tool, lend them these instructions also to
prevent misuse of the product and possible
injury.
This battery pack should be serviced only by a
qualied service technician.

Safety Symbols
The purpose of safety symbols is to attract your attention to possible dangers. The safety
symbols and the explanations with them deserve your careful attention and understanding. The
symbol warnings do not, by themselves, eliminate any danger. The instructions and warnings
they give are no substitutes for proper accident prevention measures.
WARNING Be sure to read and understand all safety instructions in this Owner’s
Manual, including all safety alert symbols such as “DANGER,”
“WARNING,” and “CAUTION” before using this tool. Failure to following all instructions listed
below may result in electric shock, re, and/or serious personal injury.
The denitions below describe the level of severity for each signal word. Please read the manual
and pay attention to these symbols.
This is the safety alert symbol. It is used to alert you to potential personal
injury hazards. Obey all safety messages that follow this symbol to avoid
possible injury or death.
DANGER DANGER indicates a hazardous situation which, if not avoided, will
result in death or serious injury.
WARNING WARNING indicates a hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could
result in death or serious injury.
CAUTION CAUTION, used with the safety alert symbol, indicates a hazardous
situation which, if not avoided, will result in minor or moderate injury.
Damage Prevention and Information Messages
These inform the user of important information and/or instructions that could lead to equipment
or other property damage if they are not followed. Each message is preceded by the word

WARNING The operation of any power tools can result in foreign
objects being thrown into your eyes, which can result
in severe eye damage. Before beginning power tool operation, always
wear safety goggles or safety glasses with side shields and a full face
shield when needed. We recommend a Wide Vision Safety Mask for use
over eyeglasses or standard safety glasses with side shields. Always use

that the battery pack be brought up to full
charge before starting a big job or using it for
an extended period of time.

Preparation
Remove the battery pack from the package and examine it carefully. Do not discard the carton
or any packaging material until all parts have been examined.
If any part of the tool is missing or damaged, do not attach the battery pack or use the tool until
the part has been repaired or replaced. Failure to heed this warning could result in serious
injury.
To operate this battery pack, carefully read this manual and all labels afxed to the battery pack
before using it. Keep this manual available for future reference.
Operating Instructions
WARNING To reduce the risk of
re, personal injury, and
product damage due to a short circuit,
never immerse your charger or battery
pack in uid or allow a uid to ow inside
them. Corrosive or conductive uids, such as
seawater, certain industrial chemicals, and
bleach or bleach-containing products, etc, can
cause a short circuit.
KNOW YOUR BATTERY PACK
Before attempting to use the battery pack,
familiarize yourself with all of its operating
features and safety requirements.
WARNING Do not attempt to modify
the battery pack or
create accessories not recommended for
use with this battery pack. Any such
alteration or modication is misuse and could
result in a hazardous condition leading to
possibly serious personal injury.
POWER INDICATOR (FIG. 2)
This lithium-ion battery pack is equipped with
a power indicator that displays the battery
pack’s charge status. Press the power-

TO CHARGE THE BATTERY PACK
NOTICE: This lithium-ion battery pack is
shipped partially charged. Before using it the
rst time, fully charge the battery pack.
A fully discharged 5.0Ah battery pack will
charge in about 1 hour with SKILSAW charger
SPTH14 in a surrounding temperature
between 41°F (5°C) and 104°F (40°C).
a. Always charge the battery pack with the
correct charger.
b. Connect the charger to a power supply.
c. Attach the battery pack to the charger
by aligning the raised ribs of the battery
pack with the slot in the charger. Slide the
battery pack onto the charger (Fig. 3).
d. When the charger indicates that the
battery pack is fully charged, remove it
from the charger.
Please refer to the charger manual for detailed
charging operation instructions.
NOTICE: If the battery pack cannot accept
a charge, the contacts of the charger or
battery pack may be contaminated. Clean
the contacts of the charger or battery pack
(e.g., by inserting and removing the battery
several times or scrubbing with a cotton swab
and alcohol), or replace the battery pack, as
required.

LOW CAPACITY WARNING
The four LED indicators indicators will ash
red for 5 seconds when the battery charge is
at or below 10%. Unlike other types of battery
packs, lithium-ion battery packs deliver fade-
free power for their entire run time. The tool
will not experience a slow, gradual loss of
power as it is used. The power delivered to
the tool will drop quickly when the battery
pack is at the end of its run time and needs to
be charged. It is not necessary to completely
discharge the battery pack before recharging.
Remove the battery pack from the tool and
recharge it when it is convenient or when it is
not in use.
OVER-TEMPERATURE WARNING
The battery circuitry also protects the battery
pack from over heating. To protect the battery
pack from damage and prolong its life, the
battery pack circuitry will send a warning
signal to the tool if the temperature becomes
too high during use. All power indicators will
stay RED to warn of the over-temperature
condition. This may happen in extremely high
torque, binding, and stalling situations. The
battery and tool will resume normal operation
when they return to 32°F (0°C) - 122°F (50°C).
NOTICE: A signicantly reduced run time
after fully charging the battery pack indicates
that the batteries are near the end of their
usable life and must be replaced.
COLD WEATHER OPERATION
When the battery pack is very cold, the
performance may be weakened. Put the
battery pack on a tool and use the tool in a
light application for a while to "warm up" the
battery pack or place the battery pack under
room temperature for conditioning. The
battery pack will operate normally.

Maintenance
SERVICE
WARNING Preventive maintenance
performed by unauthorized
personnel may result in misplacing of
internal wires and components which
could cause serious hazard. We
recommend that all tool service be performed
by a SKILSAW Factory Service Center or
Authorized SKILSAW Service Station.
GENERAL MAINTENANCE
WARNING When servicing, use only
identical replacement
parts. Use of any other parts could create
a hazard or cause product damage.
Periodically inspect the entire product for
damaged, missing, or loose parts such as
screws, nuts, bolts, caps, etc. Tighten securely
all fasteners and caps and do not operate this
product until all missing or damaged parts are
replaced. Please contact customer service or
an authorized service center for assistance.
WARNING To avoid serious personal
injury, always remove the battery pack
from the charger/tool when cleaning or
performing any maintenance.
CLEANING
WARNING The tool may be cleaned
most effectively with
compressed dry air. Always wear safety
goggles when cleaning tools with
compressed air. Do not attempt to clean by
inserting pointed objects through openings.
WARNING Certain cleaning agents
and solvents damage
plastic parts. Some of these are: gasoline,
carbon tetrachloride, chlorinated cleaning
solvents, ammonia and household detergents
that contain ammonia. Always use only a soft,
dry cloth to clean your battery pack; never use
detergent or alcohol.
STORAGE
Store the tool indoors in a place that is
inaccessible to children. Keep it away from
corrosive agents.
Battery Care
WARNING When batteries are not
installed on the tool or
charger, keep them away from metal
objects. For example, to protect terminals
from shorting DO NOT place batteries in a tool
box or pocket with nails, screws, keys, etc.
Fire or injury may result.
DO NOT PUT BATTERIES INTO FIRE OR
EXPOSE TO HIGH HEAT. They may explode.

Battery Disposal
WARNING Do not attempt to disassemble the battery or remove any component
projecting from the battery terminals. Fire or injury may result. Prior to
disposal, protect exposed terminals with heavy insulating tape to prevent shorting.
Lithium-Ion Batteries: If equipped with a lithium-ion battery, the battery must be collected,
recycled or disposed of in an environmentally sound manner.
The EPA certied RBRC Battery Recycling Seal on the lithium-ion (Li-ion)
battery indicates Chervon North America is voluntarily participating in an
industry program to collect and recycle these batteries at the end of their
useful life, when taken out of service in the United States or Canada. The
RBRC program provides a convenient alternative to placing used Li-ion
batteries into the trash or the municipal waste stream, which may be illegal
in your area.
Please call 1-800-8-BATTERY for information on Li-ion battery recycling
and disposal bans/restrictions in your area, or return your batteries to
a SKILSAW Service Center for recycling. Chervon North America’s
involvement in this program is part of our commitment to preserving our
environment and conserving our natural resources.

AVERTISSEMENT Avant d’utiliser le
bloc-piles, lisez
toutes les instructions et les mises en garde gurant

Rechargez uniquement le bloc-piles à l’aide du
chargeur approuvé par le fabricant. Un chargeur conçu
pour un type de bloc-piles peut causer un incendie s’il
est utilisé avec un autre type de bloc-piles.
Familiarisez-vous avec votre outil électrique. Lisez

allumés durant environ 3 secondes. Nous vous
recommandons de charger complètement le bloc-piles
avant d’entreprendre de gros travaux ou de l’utiliser
pendant une période prolongée.
AVIS : Le voyant d’alimentation peut être utilisé, peu
importe si le bloc-piles est inséré dans l’outil ou non.
Appuyez sur l’indicateur de mise en marche pour
afcher le niveau de charge du bloc-piles.

Préparation
Retirez le chargeur de l’emballage et examinez-le soigneusement. Ne jetez ni la boîte ni le matériel d’emballage
avant d’avoir examiné toutes les pièces.
Si une pièce d’outil est manquante ou endommagée, évitez de xer le bloc-piles ou d’utiliser l’outil tant que la pièce
n’a pas été réparée ou remplacée. Le non-respect de cet avertissement pourrait entraîner de graves blessures.
Veuillez lire attentivement le présent guide et toutes les étiquettes apposées sur le chargeur avant de l’utiliser.
Veuillez conserver ce manuel pour vous y référer ultérieurement.
Mode d’emploi
AVERTISSEMENT Pour réduire les
risques d’incendie,
de blessures corporelles et de détérioration de
l’outil découlant d’un court-circuit, ne plongez
jamais l’outil, le bloc-piles ou le chargeur dans un
liquide et ne laissez aucun liquide s’écouler sur
ceux-ci. Les liquides corrosifs ou conducteurs, tels
que l’eau de mer, certains produits chimiques
industriels, l’eau de Javel, les produits contenant de
l’eau de Javel, etc., peuvent causer un court-circuit.
FAMILIARISEZ-VOUS AVEC VOTRE BLOC-PILES
Avant d’utiliser ce bloc-piles, familiarisez-vous avec
toutes ses caractéristiques et fonctions
ainsi qu’avec les consignes de sécurité à respecter.
AVERTISSEMENT Ne tentez pas de
modier le bloc-
piles ou de créer des accessoires qui ne sont pas
recommandés pour ce bloc-piles. Toute altération
ou modication de ce type constitue un usage
