VDSLisafastversion ofADSL.VDSLMODEMisabroadbandInternetaccess device which utilizes
the high frequencysegmentofthephone linetotransmithigh-speed datawithoutinterfering withthe voice
transmission. The frequencyofVDSLsignalishigherthanthatofvoice, sovoice and VDSLsignalcan coexist
inone line byusing asplittertoinsulateeach fromthe other.VDSLdatatransferon the asymmetryway.The
upload speed isup to19.2Mbpsanddownload speed isup to55Mbps.Itisan idealdevice forbroadband
access.

2. ConnectEthernetport ofthe VDSLMODEMto Ethernetport ofthe computerusing the network cable that
comeswith the modem.

with the modem.
4. Plug in the powercord , and turn on the power.

2.3.1PREPARATIONBEFORESOFTWAREINSTALLATION
Beforetheinstallation, pleaseconfirminformation beloworconsult withthe VDSLservice provider.Table
2.1 showsall the information needed toconfigure fordifferentprotocols.

2.3.2COMPUTERCONFIGURATION
The default factory-setIPAddress forthe VDSLMODEMis:192.168.1.1. The SubnetMaskis:
255.255.255.0. Users can configureVDSLMODEMthrough anInternetbrowser.VDSLMODEMcanbeused
asa gatewayand DNS serverand users need to setthe computer’sTCP/IPprotocolasfollow:
1. Setthe computeratsameInternetsegmentwithVDSLMODEMsoastoenterVDSLMODEM
configuration page throughabrowser.
2. Setthe computer’sgateway’sIPaddress thesame asthe VDSLModem’s.
3. Setthe computer’sDNSserver’sIPaddress the sameasthe VDSLModem’sorthatofan effectiveDNS
server.
Ifthe userhasanyquestion regarding the computer’sTCP/IPprotocol,pleaserefertoAPPENDIXC:
TCP/IPPROTOCOLCONFIGURATION.
2.3.3VDSLMODEMCONFIGURATION
Openthe browser; input http://192.168.1.1 in the addresscolumn. Press “Enter”keythen the entrydialog
box will pop up asFigure 2.2, Inputusername: admin, and password: admin(Notethatthisiscapital
sensitive), then press “Enter”.TheVDSLMODEMconfiguration page will be shown.

Ifthe configuration isbridge encapsulation, there isno need to configureanymore parameters. Onlyneed
to use the third partydial-up software to connectthe Internet.

the following configuration guide.

the featuresofPPP.Although it’sbased on ATMprotocol, the setting ofall the otherparameters issimilarwith
