Starting the appliance
!Before starting the appliance, follow the installation
instructions (see Installation).
!Beforeconnectingtheappliance,cleanthecompartments
andaccessorieswellwithlukewarmwaterandbicarbonate.
1. PlugtheapplianceinandmakesuretheGREENandRED
indicatorlightsareilluminated(presstheON/OFFswitchso
itisinthe- position).
2. Whentheredindicatorlightswitchesoff,turnthe
TEMPERATUREADJUSTMENTknobtoamediumposition.
Thefreezerisnowreadytobeused.
Using the freezer to its full potential
• UsetheFREEZEROPERATIONknobtoadjustthetemperature
1 =warmest
4=coldest
Werecommend,however,amediumposition.
• Donotre-freezefoodthatisdefrostingorthathasalready
beendefrosted.Thesefoodsmustbecookedandeaten
(within24hours).
• Freshfoodthatneedstobefrozenmustnotcomeinto
contactwithfoodthathasalreadybeendefrosted.
• Donotplaceglassbottleswhichcontainliquids,andwhich
arecorkedorhermeticallysealedinthefreezerbecause
theycouldbreak.
• Themaximumquantityoffoodthatmaybefrozen
dailyisindicatedontheplatecontainingthetechnical
propertieslocatedonthebottomleftsideoftherefrigerator
compartment(forexample:Kg/24h:4)
• Placinglargeamountsoffreshfoodinthefreezermay
temporarilyincreasethetemperatureinsidetheappliance
(thisisindicatedwhentheREDindicatorlightilluminates).
Thissituation,asitisonlytemporary,doesnotadversely
affectthestorageconditionsoffoodthatisalreadyfrozen.
!Donotopenthedoorduringfreezing.
!Ifthereisapowercutormalfunction,donotopenthefreezer
door.Thiswillhelpmaintainthetemperatureinsidethefreezer,
ensuringthatfoodsareconservedforatleast9-14hours.
!REDIndicatorLight.Whenthisredlightcomesonfora
prolongedperiodoftime,itmeansthatthefreezerisnot
functioningproperlyandthetemperatureisrisingtoomuch.

Switching the appliance off
Duringcleaningandmaintenanceitisnecessaryto
disconnecttheappliancefromtheelectricitysupply:
1. Switchtheapplianceoff(presstheON/OFFswitchsothatit
isintheopositionandtheGREENindicatorlightisoff);
2.pulltheplugoutofthesocket.
Cleaning the appliance
• Theexternalandinternalparts,aswellastherubberseals
maybecleanedusingaspongethathasbeensoakedin
lukewarmwaterandbicarbonateofsodaorneutralsoap.Do
notusesolvents,abrasiveproducts,bleachorammonia.
• Theremovableaccessoriesmaybesoakedinwarmwater
andsoapordishwashingliquid.Rinseanddrythem
carefully.
Avoiding mould and unpleasant odours
• Theapplianceismanufacturedwithhygienicmaterialswhich
areodourfree.Inordertomaintainanodourfreerefrigerator
andtopreventtheformationofstains,foodmustalwaysbe
coveredorsealedproperly.
• Ifyouwanttoswitchtheapplianceoffforanextended
periodoftime,cleantheinsideandleavethedoorsopen.
Defrosting the appliance
!Followtheinstructionsbelow.
Donotuseobjectswithsharporpointededgestodefrost
theapplianceasthesemaydamagetherefrigerationcircuit
beyondrepair.
Ifthefrostlayerisgreaterthan5mm,itisnecessarytodefrost
manually:
1.Switchingtheapplianceoff.
2.Wrapfrozenfoodsinnewspaperandplacetheminanother
freezerorinacoolplace.
3.Leavethedooropenuntilthefrosthasmeltedcompletely.
Thiscanbemadeeasierbyplacingcontainerswith
lukewarmwaterinthefreezercompartment..
4.CertainappliancesarefittedwiththeDRAINSYSTEM
toleadthewateroutside.Letthewaterflowintoa
container (see diagram).

• Observelocalenvironmentalstandardswhendisposing
packagingmaterialforrecyclingpurposes.
• TheEuropeanDirective2002/96/EConWasteElectricaland
ElectronicEquipment(WEEE),requiresthatoldhousehold
electricalappliancesmustnotbedisposedofinthenormal
unsortedmunicipalwastestream.Oldappliancesmust
becollectedseparatelyinordertooptimisetherecovery
andrecyclingofthematerialstheycontainandreducethe
impactonhumanhealthandtheenvironment.Thecrossed
out“wheeledbin”symbolontheproductremindsyouof
yourobligation,thatwhenyoudisposeoftheapplianceit
mustbeseparatelycollected.
Consumersshouldcontacttheirlocalauthorityor
retailerforinformationconcerningthecorrectdisposal
oftheiroldappliance.
Respecting and conserving the
environment
• Installtheapplianceinafreshandwell-ventilatedroom.
Ensurethatitisprotectedfromdirectsunlightanddonot
placeitnearheatsources.
• Trytoavoidkeepingthedooropenforlongperiodsor
openingthedoortoofrequentlyinordertoconserveenergy.
• Donotfilltheappliancewithtoomuchfood:
coldairmustcirculatefreelyforfoodtobepreserved
properly.Ifcirculationisimpeded,thecompressorwillwork
continuously.
• Donotplacehotfooddirectlyintotherefrigerator.The
internaltemperaturewillincreaseandforcethecompressor
toworkharderandwillconsumemoreenergy.
• Defrosttheapplianceificeforms(see Maintenance).Athick
layeroficemakescoldtransferencetofoodproductsmore
difficultandresultsinincreasedenergyconsumption.
• Regularlycheckthedoorsealsandwipecleantoensure
theyarefreeofdebrisandtopreventcoldairfromescaping
(see Maintenance).
Troubleshooting
Iftheappliancedoesnotwork,beforecallingforAssistance(see
Assistance),checkforasolutionfromthefollowinglist.
The green GREEN indicator light does not illuminate.
• Theplughasnotbeeninsertedintotheelectrical
socket,ornotfarenoughtomakecontact,orthereis
nopowerinthehouse.
The RED indicator light remains illuminated constantly.
• Thedoorisnotclosedproperlyorhasbeenopen
continuously.
• TheTEMPERATUREADJUSTMENTknobisnotinthecorrect
position.
The motor runs continuously..
• Thedoorisnotclosedproperlyoriscontinuously
opened.
• Theoutsideambienttemperatureisveryhigh.
• Thethicknessofthefrostexceeds2-3mm(see
Maintenance).
The appliance makes a lot of noise.
• Theappliancehasnotbeeninstalledonalevel
surface (see Installation).
• Theappliancehasbeeninstalledbetweencabinets
thatvibrateandmakenoise.
•Theinternalrefrigerantmakesaslightnoiseeven
whenthecompressorisoff.Thisisnotadefect,itis
normal.
The RED indicator light is illuminated for brief periods of time
• Alargeamountofnon-frozenfoodhasbeenplaced
inside,causingthetemperatureinsidethefreezertorise
temporarily.Asthisisashort-termsituation,itdoesnot
adverselyaffectthestorageconditionsoffoodthathas
alreadybeenfrozen.
• Thedoorhasbeenleftopenforalongtime(whenplacing
foodinsideortakingitout).Inthiscase,theilluminationof
thislightisnotanindicatorofanyfreezerfault/problem.
