General SafetyWARNINGS!
You and anyotheroperator of this snow thrower mustread,
understand and followtheseinstructionsintheir entirety, and
shouldreread themat thestart ofeach snow season. Failure
to follow theseinstructions mayresultin ELECTRICSHOCK,
FIREand/orseriousPERSONAL INJURY.

with the particular operating instruction.This means that
the operation requires special ATTENTION, CAUTIONand
AWARENESS.
1. Keepwork area cleanandwelllit. Cluttered,dark
areas
inviteaccidents.
6. Do notabuse the cord. Keep thecordawayfrom heat,
oil, sharp edges ormovingparts. Never carry thesnow
thrower byits cord oryank the cord todisconnect it from
theelectricaloutlet. Damagedorentangled cordsincrease
theriskof electricshock.
7. Replaceor properlyrepair damagedcords.If thecord
becomes damaged in any mannerwhileplugged into the
wallreceptacle,immediatelypull the extensioncordplug
from thereceptacle.
8. Contact with waterwhile operating the snow thrower
canresult in electric shock andserious bodily injury.
Donotusethesnowthrowerindamporwetlocationsor
exposeto rain.Do nothandle theplugor theappliance
with wethandsor whilestandinginwater.
9. mWARNING –Use outdoor extension cords marked
SW-A,SOW-A,STW-A,STOW-A, SJW-A,SJTW-Aor
SJTOWA.Thesecordsareratedforoutdooruseand
reduce theriskof electricshock.
10.ꢀ Turnꢀ offꢀ theꢀ powerꢀ switchꢀ andꢀ disconnectꢀ theꢀ powerꢀ
cablebefore making any adjustments to theunit and
before inspecting,servicing, changing accessories or
cleaning the snow thrower. Follow thesame procedure
if any other dangerous conditions are presentduring
operation.Anyadjustmentsto theunitshouldbe
performed after revolvingparts inside thesnow thrower
stop completely. Suchpreventativesafetymeasures
reducetherisk ofstartingthepowertoolaccidentally.
2. Do notoperate thesnow thrower inan explosive
atmosphere, suchas in thepresenceof flammable
liquids, gases ordust.Electrical appliances create sparks
thatmayignite thedustor fumes.
11.ꢀ Ifꢀ youꢀ findꢀ theꢀ mainꢀ powerꢀ cableꢀ orꢀ theꢀ extensionꢀ cableꢀ
damaged, please pull out theplug fromthe socket and
disconnect thepower immediately.Repairthecableor
replaceit ifnecessary.
3. Keepchildren, pets and bystandersaway fromthe
workarea.Beawarethatthenormal noiseofthe
machinewhen turned on may makeitdifficultforyou to
hearapproachingpeople. Spectatorsshouldwearsafety
glasses and bekepta safedistanceaway from the work
area. Donot letspectators touchthe snow thrower or the
extensioncord.
4. Electrical plugs must match the outlet. Never modify
thepluginanyway.Do not useanyadapter plugs with
groundedappliances.Unmodifiedplugsandmatching
outletswillreducetheriskof electricshock.
5. Avoid body contactwith earthed or groundedsurfaces
(i.e. upper andlower waterpipes, radiators, ranges,
refrigerators, microwaveovensandouter framesof
heatingequipment).Takenecessaryprecautionstoavoid
electric shock.Thereisanincreasedrisk ofelectricshock
if your bodyis earthed or grounded.
12. Whenreplacing any parts, youmuststrictly observe
theinstructions andprocedures described in this
operator's manual. Special care should bepaid toany
rubberparts, sincethesepartsmay increase theengine
load anddecrease its mechanicalpower if damaged.
13. Do not move or transport the snow thrower when the
plug is connectedto thepower socket andthe switch
is turned on.
14. If, during use,you noticethat theunit runs unstably
or hearabnormalsounds fromthe engine,stopthe
machine,disconnectthe power immediately and
contactanauthorizedSnowJoe®+SunJoe®service
center.

Electrical Safety
1. Ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) protectionshould
beprovided on the circuit(s)or outlet(s) tobe used for
thesnowthrower. Receptaclesareavailablehaving
built-inGFCIprotectionand maybeused for this
measureofsafety.
2. To prevent electric shock, useonlywith an extension cord
suitablefor outdoor use, suchas SW-A, SOW-A, STW-A,
STOW-A, SJW-A, SJOW-A, SJTW-A,or SJTOW-A.
4. To prevent theappliance cord fromdisconnecting
fromtheextensioncord during operation,makea knot
with the two cordsasshownin Table 1.

Beforeuse, check that theextension cord is in good
condition. When usingan extension cord, makesureto
use oneheavyenough to carry the current your product
will draw. An undersized cord will cause adropin line
voltageresultingin lossof power andoverheating.

apolarizedplug(i.e. oneblade iswiderthan theother).
Usethis applianceonly witha polarized UL-, CSA- or ETL-
ratedextension cord foroutdoor,all-weather use.
Theapplianceplugwillfit into apolarized extension
cordonly one way.
If theapplianceplugdoes notfit fully into the extension
cord, reversetheplug.Iftheplugstilldoesnotfit, obtain
acorrectpolarizedextensioncord. A polarizedextension
cordwillrequire the useofa polarizedwalloutlet. The
extensioncordplugwillfit intothepolarized walloutlet
onlyoneway.Iftheplugdoesnotfit fully into thewall
outlet,reverse theplug.Iftheplugstilldoesnotfit,
contacta qualified electricianto installtheproperwall
outlet.Donotmodifytheapplianceplug,extension cord
receptacleor extension cord pluginany way.

5. Do notabusethe cord. Neverpull thesnow thrower by the
cord or yank thecord todisconnectit from thereceptacle.

sense when operating thesnow thrower. Do notuse the
machinewhentired,illor undertheinfluenceofdrugs,
alcoholor medication.A moment ofinattentionmay result
inseriouspersonal injury.
2. Wear properclothing –Wearingrubberboots offers
additionalprotectionfromelectricshock.Donotwear
loose clothingor jewelry that maybecome caughtin the
machine. Wearprotective headgeartokeep hair away
fromrevolvingpartsof the machine.Safety glasses offer
betterprotectionthaneveryday eyeglasses.
•Do notallowanypart of the snow thrower tomake
contactwithwater while itis in operation.If the
appliancebecomeswetwhile turned off, wipedry
beforestarting.

outdoor,all-weatheruse,suchastheSnowJoe®+
SunJoe®SJTW-A14-gauge50-footextension cord

•Do not usean extension cord over 100ft (30 m).
3. Moving parts present risks –Keepyourface, hair,
clothing,handsandfeetaway frommovingparts.All
guardsand safetyattachments must beinstalled properly
before using the unit. Shut offanddisconnectthecord
before touchingany partsotherthan the handlesand
theswitch.
4. Surfaces –This snow thrower isintended for useon
paved surfaces.Do notuseon gravel, stoneor other
unpavedsurfacesunlessthesnowthrower isadjusted for
suchsurfacesaccordingto theinstructionsgiven in this
operator’s manual.
•Do not touch theappliance or its plugwith wet hands
orwhile standing in water. Wearingrubberboots
offerssomeprotection.
5. Avoid accidentalstarting –Makesure theswitch isin the
off positionbeforeplugging in the unit. Do notcarry the
snowthrowerwithyourfinger ontheswitch.

6. Body position –Maintainproper footingandbalance
atalltimes.Placeheelsfirmlyonthe ground and tightly
graspthe handlebar. Watch for unevensurfacesand do
not overreach.Incaseyou fall or collidewiththe snow
thrower, inspect the unit foranydamages or cracks.
Whenstepping backwards,be careful toavoidobstacles
beneathyour feet or behind youtoavoid falling.
