On transporting the player
Before transporting the player,

return the internal mechanisms
to their original positions.
I) Remove all the discs from the
disc slots.
2) Press OPEN/CLOSE to close
the front cover.
Make sure that "NO DISC"
appears on the front panel
display.
3) Wait for 10 seconds, then press
1/<9 to tum off the player.
The player enters standby
mode.
4) Disconnect the
AC power cord.

than discs on the disc tray.
Doing so may causedamage to
the
player or the object.

When you move the player,
take out any discs.
If you
don't, the disc may be
damaged.
•
When you move the player,
disconnect the
AC power cord
and all
other cables from the
player.
On placement
•Place the player in alocation
with adequate ventilation
to
prevent heat build-up in the
player.
•
Do not place the player on a
soft surface such as arug that
might block the ventilation
holes.
•
Do not place the player in a
location near heat sources,
or
in aplace subject to direct
sunlight, excessive dust,
or
mechanical shock.
• If the playeris broughtdirectly
from acold to awarm location,
or is placed in avery damp
room, moisture may condense
on the lenses inside the player.
Should this occur, the player
may not operate properly. In
this case, remove the disc and
leave the player turned
on for
about half an
hour until the
moisture evaporates.
•Keep the player and the discs
away from equipment with
strong magnets, such as
microwave ovens,
or large
loudspeakers.
•
Do not place heavy or unstable
objects on the player.

center out.
•Do not resurface the playing
side
of adisc to remove
surface scratches.
•Do not use solvents such as
benzine, thinner,
commercially available disc/
lens cleaners,
or anti-static
spray intended for vinyl LPs.
•Do not expose the disc to
direct sunlight or heat sources
such as hot airducts, orleave it
in acar parked
in direct
sunlight as the temperature
may rise considerably inside
the car.
•After removing adisc from the
disc slot, store the disc
in its
case.
To ensure stable operation
•To keep the disc clean, handle
the disc
by its edge. Do not
touch the surface.
Be careful not to leave
fingerprints especially on Blu-
ray Discs.
Dust, fingerprints,
or scratches
on the disc may cause it
to
malfunction.
•Do not insert discs other than
those described
in "Playable
Discs" (page 86). Inserting a
disc in aformat not compatible
may cause amalfunction.
- 8 cm (3-inch) disc adaptor.
The player cannot play an 8
cm disc. Do not insert an 8
cm (3-inch) disc or an 8cm
(3-inch) disc adaptor. It may
damage the player and disc.

- A disc that has anon-
standard shape (e.g., card,
heart).
- A disc that has cellophane
tape
or stickeradhesive on it.

• If you have printed the disc's
label, dry the label before
playing.
• If burrs or adhesive material
attach on the disc, the player
may work unstably. In order to
ensure stable operation, insert
adisc after removing burrs or
foreign objects. Burrs may be
removed by rubbing the edge
of the disc with the side of a
pen orpencil. Ifadisc does not
play, check for burrs on the
disc and its two adjacent discs.

Step 1: Connecting to Your TV
The player has the following video jacks. Connect the player to your TV according to the input
jack on your TV.
If you connect the player to your TV using an HOMI cable, you can enjoy high quality digital
pictures
and sound through the HOMI OUT jack.

Use an HDMI-OVI converter cable (not

OVI jack will not accept audio

OUT jack to OVI jacks that are not HOCP
compliant (e.g., OVI jacks on PC displays).

If you connect aI080/24p- or 1080p-compatible TV, use aHigh Speed HDMI cable.

Notes on connecting to the HOMI OUT jack
Observe the following as improper handling
may damage the HDMI OUTjack and the
connector.
•Carefully align the HDMI OUTjack on the
rear
of the player and the HDMI connector
by checking their shapes. Make sure the
connector is not upside down
or tilted.
•Be sure to disconnect an HDMI cable when
moving the player.
• If you place the player on acabinet with an
HDMI cable connected, do not apply too
much pressure to the cabinet wall. It may
damage the HDMI OUT jack or the HDMI
cable.
•When connecting or disconnecting, do not
screw in or rotate the HDMI connector.

compatible with this product and may cause
artifacts to be displayed in the picture. In the case
of 480iJ48Op1720p/1080i/1080p scan picture
problems,
it is recommended that the user switch
