Installing the
Battery
To keep good time, your Dream Machine needs one
6F22 battery (not supplied), in addition to house
current The battery keeps the clock operating in the
event of a power interruption
Befbre setting the time on your Dream Machine, open
the lid at the bottom of the unit, install the battery wifl_
correct polarity and then close the lld.
• After a power intea uption, fi_edisplayed time may
not always be correct (it may gain or lose about I0
minutes per hour).
Knowing When to Replace the
Battery
q_, check battery poweq unplug the AC power cord
from the wail outlet and plug it in again after a fhw
nlinutes If the displayed tinle is incorrecb replace the
battery with a new one
Battery Warning
When file trait will be lef: unplugged for a long time,
remove the battety to avoid undue battery discharge
and damage to the unit from battery leakage.

INSTALLATION
Water and Moisture

Heat
Do not place tbe appliance near or over a radiator or beat register, or where it is exposed to direct
sunlight
Ventilation
The slots and openings in the cabinet are provided for necessary ventilation 3"0 ensure reliable
0el ation of t]_e appliance, arid to protect it from overbeating, these slots arid openings must never be
b_ocked or covered
-Never cover the slots and openings with a cloth or other materials
-Never block the slots and openings by placing the appliance on a bed, sofa, rug or other similar
surface.
-Never place the appliance in a confined space, such as a bookcase, or buiftdn cabinet, unless propel
ventilation is provided
Accessories
Do not place the appliance on an unstable cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table Tile appliance may fall,
causing serious injury to a child or an adult, and serious damage to the appliance Use only a cart,
stand, tripod, bracket, or table recommended by Sony
-An appliance and cart combination should be moved with care Quick stops, excessive force, and
uneven surfaces may cause the appliance and cart combination to overturn
Wall or Ceiling Mounting
If your appliance can be mounted to a wall ol ceiling, mount it only as recommended by Sony
USE
Power Source
This appliance should be operated only from the type of power source indicated on the marking label¸
If you are not sure of the type of electrical power supplied to your home, consult your dealer or local
power company¸ For those appliances designed to operate from battery power, or other sources, rear
to the operating instructions
Grounding or Polarization
Tbis appliance is equipped with a polarized AC power cord plug (a plug having one blade wider than
the other), or with a three-wire grounding type plug (a plug having a third pin for grounding} Follow
the instructions below:
-For the appliance with a polarized AC power cord plug:
This plug wilt fit into the power oudet only one way This is a safety feature If you are unable to
insert the plug fully into the outlet, try reversing the plug. If the plug should still fai! to fit, contact
your electi ician to have a suitable outlet installed Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized
plug by forcing it in
-For the appliance with a three-wire grounding type AC plug:
This plug wilt ordy fit into a grounding-type power outlet This is a safety feature Ifyou are unable to
insert the plug into the outlet, contact your electl ician to have a suitable outlet installed. Do not defeat
the safety purpose of the grounding plug.
Overloading
Do not overload wal! outlets, extension cords ol convenience receptacles beyond their capacity, since
this carl result in fire or electlic sbock.
When not in use
Unplug the power cold of the appliance ft'om the outlet when left unused for a long period of tinle

Power-Cord Protection
Route the power cord so that it is not likely to be walked on or pincbed by items placed upon or

ANTENNAS
Outdoor Antenna Grounding
If an outdoor antenna ol cable system is installed, follow the precautions below.
An outdoor anterma system should not be located in the vicinity of overhead power fines or other
electric light or power circuits, or wbere g can conic in contact witb such power fines or circuits
WHEN INSTALLING AN OUTDOOR ANTENNA SYSTEM, EXTREME CARE SHOULD BE TAKEN
TO KEEP FROM CONTACTING SUCH POWER LINES OR CIRCUITS AS CONTACT WITH THEM
IS ALMOST INVARIABLY FATAL
Be sure the antenna system is grounded so as to provide some protection against voltage surges arid
built-up static charges Section 810 of the National Electrical Code _prrovides information with respect
to proper groundhog of the mast and supporting structure, grounding of the lead in wire to an
anterma discharge unJh size of gl'ourldJrlg conductors, location of antenna-discbarge uniL connection

Damage Requiring Service
Unplug the ap )liance fiom tbe wall outlet and refer servicing to qualified smwice personnel under the

-If liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into the appliance
-If the appliance has been exposed to rain or water
-The appliance does not appear to operate normally or exhibits a marked change in performance

Setting the Clock
1Plug in the unit.
Thedisplay willflash "AM 12:0fi".
2 To set the hour, while holding down
CLOCK, press TIME SET H. When the
correct hour appears in the display, release
CLOCK,
3To set the minute, while holding down
CLOCK, press TIME SET M. When the
correct minute appear_ in the display,
release CLOCK.
The clock willbegin to operate when you release
TIME SETM
• Each press on TIME SET H or TIME SET M
advances the displayed number by one
• The nlinute digits advance to "00" after "59" The
hour digits do not advance by pressing TIME SET
M
• To adJusTthe time exactly to the second, set the time
one nlinute behind the tinle you want to set Piess
TIME SET M simultaneouly with tile time signal
Playing the Radio
1Set the function selector to RADIO ON to
turn on the radio and adjust VOL (volume).
2Select BAND and tune in a station using
TUNING.
• To Turn offthe radio, set the t_nctlon selector to
OFF.
Improving the
reception
FM: Extend the FM wire antenna fhlly to improve the
reception
AM: Rotate the unit horizontally fpe optimum
reception. A fhnite bar antenna is built into the
unit
Do not operate the unit over a steel desk or metal
surface, as this nlay lead to interference of reception
Setting the Alarm
"/_ setthe radio alaml, first rune in to a station and
adjust d_evolume
1Tosetthehourforalarm,whileholding
down ALARM, press TIME SET H. When
the desired hour appears in the display,
release ALARM.
2To set the minme for alarm, while holding
down ALARM, press TIME SET M. When
the desired minnie appears in the display,
release ALARM.
3Set the function selector to ALARM
MODE • RADIO or ALARM MODE •
BUZZER.
The alarnl setting will be indicated inthe display
The alarm will come on at the preset time and
automatically turn itself offafter 119 minutes
• To shul offthe alarm, sel the fhnction selector To
OFF
To sound the alarnl at the pt-ese[ time the next day,
set the function selector to ALARM MODE •
RADIO or ALARM MODE •BUZZER again.
• To deactivate the alalm, set the function selector to
OFF
The alarm indicadon will be turned o_i
• To doze a few more minutes, press SNOOZE/
SLEEP OFF
The alaml will shut off'but will come on again after
about 9 minutes (While the snooze function is
opel adng, tile alarm ftldlcation is shown in tile
display tmtil the ataml function is deactivated) You
can use this tilnc fton as many times as you llke
• To adiust the iadio alarm volume, turn VOL
The buzzer volume is fixed
• To check the preset time, pTess ALARM
Setting the Sleep
Timer
Etlioy Palling asleep to the radio using the built-in
sleep timer that shuls off the radio autonaaticagy
1While listening to the radio, set the lhnction
selector to OFF.
2Press SLEEP.
The radio tmns on. It will go off after 59
minutes.
• To turn offthe radio befbre the preset time, press
SNOOZE/SLEEP OFF
• Every time you p_ess SLEEP, die sleep timer is
reset to 59 minutes
•When you set the fhnction selector to ALARM
MODE • RADIO or ALARM MODE °BUZZER, if"
the preset alarm time comes while the sleep timer is
opetating, the radio ot buTzer sounds depending on
which you set
Precautions
• Operate the unit on die power sources specified in
'*Specifications"
• To disconnect the power cord (mains lead), pull it
out by the plug, not the cord
• Do not leave *he unit in a location near a heat source
such as a radiator or alrduet, or in a place subject to
direct sunlight, excessive dust, mecfianicaI vibration,
or shock
• Allow adequate air circulation to prevent internal
heat build-up Do not place the unit on a surface (6
rug, a blanket, etc) or near materials (a curtain)
which might block the ventiladon holes
• Should any solid object or liquid fNl into the unit,
unplug/he unit and have it checked by a qualified
peL'sonnel befbre operating it any further
• To clean the casing, use a soft cloth danlpened with
a mild detergent solution
