Before operating the unit, please read this manual thoroughly and retain it for

Features
The AXS-RS is a portable memory recorder that uses newly developed AXS
memory cards as the recording media. It features a toggle connector for
connection to PMW-F5/F55 and other camcorders, and the HXR-IFR5 interface
unit.
It supports simple
development of RAW data recorded on AXS memory cards
inserted in
the recorder for playback on an external monitor.
Recording,
monitor playback, and other operations can be controlled from the
connected camcorder.

Note
Always disconnect the battery pack and DC IN connector DC supply cable before
connecting
or disconnecting another device to or from this recorder.
Refer to the operating instructions for the connected camcorder when using this recorder.
1 Battery pack mounting unit
Supplies power from a battery pack, or from
an AC supply using an AC adapter.
For safety, use
only the following Sony genuine battery pack and AC adapter.
Battery pack: BP-FL75/L80S
AC adapter: AC-DN2B/DN10
Notes
Before installation, charge the battery pack using a battery charger.
Charging
the battery pack immediately after use when the temperature of
the battery pack is high may not fully charge the battery pack.
2 Battery release lever
Push to release the lock, allowing the battery pack to be removed.
3 Memory slot cover open/close button
Slide
to open the cover when inserting/removing an AXS memory card.
4 AXS memory card slot
Insertion slot for an AXS memory card. Insert an AXS memory card all the way
into the slot with the AXS logo mark facing the battery side.
Supported
AXS memory cards: AXS-512S24
5 EJECT button
Push to eject the AXS memory card from the memory card slot.

Note
If a memory card is ejected while the ACCESS lamp is lit red, data on the card
is not guaranteed. All data on the memory card may become corrupted.
Memory cards should be ejected only when
the ACCESS lamp is lit green.
6 Release lever
Slide the release button to unlock and then lift the lever when mounting a
camcorder on
the recorder or when removing a camcorder from the recorder.
7 DC OUT connector
Supplies DC power to peripheral devices, such as a monitor or LED light.
Connect only devices
with current consumption rating of 1.8 A or lower to
the DC OUT connector. If an overcurrent condition is detected, the indicator
turns on and
output stops. Check the connection with peripheral devices and
then
turn on the power supply again.
8 DC IN connector
Supplies DC power to the recorder using the optional DC power supply cable.
9 AUX OUT connector
Connects to an external monitor for developed video, audio, and timecode
output using a 1.5G HD SDI (1920 x 1 080/Edge Crop) signal. It is not suitable
for on-set grading or main line recording.
An interlaced signal
is output when the frame rate is 59.94P or SOP, and a
progressive (Pure-P) signal
is output at other frame rates.
The relationship between
the connected device and output is described
below.
When connected
to HXR-IFR5
If recording format is 4K: EE and playback video are output.
If recording format is 2K: Only playback video is output; EE video is not
output.
When connected to PMW-FS/FSS
If PMW-FS/FSS is earlier than Ver 3.0: EE
1l and playback video are output.
If PMW-FS/FSS is Ver 3.0 or later: Only EEll video is output; playback video
is not output. Playback video is available from each PMW-FS/FSS output,
according to the PMW-FS/FSS settings.
1) EE signal is not output when in High Frame Rate mode or in Slow & Quick
Motion mode.
Only video can be output in an EE signal. The output format varies with the
connected device.

10 Camera mount connector
Connects to a camcorder and provides both signal and power .
Note
A data transfer error may occur if there is any dust or other matter adhering
to the camera mount connector. If the connector is dirty, clean the connector
using a cotton swab.
For details about connecting camcorders, refer to the operating instructions for the
camcorder.
11 TALLY lamp
Lights while recording is in progress.
It flashes when an error or warning condition occurs. The main causes are
indicated below. For other causes, refer to the operation manual for the
connected camcorder.
Flashing
(1 time/sec): Remaining media warning (about 5 minutes)
Flashing (4 times/sec): No remaining media or an error occurred
12 ACCESS lamp
Lights when the inserted AXS memory card is being accessed and during
recording/playback .
Red:
During data access and when shutting down
Green: When not accessing a memory card in recording/playback mode
Off : When a valid memory card is not inserted
1 POWER indicator
Lights when power is supplied from the camcorder.
14 SELECT button/indicator
Lights when playback mode is enabled. When the indicator is not lit, pressing
the SELECT button enables playback mode.
Notes
Always make a test recording, and verify that it was recorded successfully.
