Before the explosion-proof monitor is installed and switched on, please read the Operating Manual
carefully.
1DESCRIPTION
Ex-proof monitor Relion-MR-Exm (hereinafter referred to as monitor) is intended for imaging of the
video monitoring system information.
The monitor body is made of stainless steel 12KH18N10T (marked with letter “N” in the product
name) or of galvanized low carbon steel St10-20 with polymeric powder coating (marked with letter “M”
in the product name).
The Monitor is made in the following versions:

The monitor is manufactured in compliance with requirements to ex-proof equipment as per TR TS
012/2011, GOST 30852.0 (IEC 60079-0), GOST 30852.10 (IEC 60079-11), GOST 30852.17 (IEC 60079-
18) and has the following explosion-proof marking: 1Ex e ia mb IIC T6 Gb X / РП Ех e ia mb I Mc X.
Type of ex-proofing - compound sealing. “X” sign following the device ex-proof marking means that
screen cleaning is allowed only with wet cloth to prevent from static charge accumulation.
The monitor is used in class 1 and 2 explosion-hazard areas, underground mines, pits and their ground-
based structures.
The body has IP66/68 ex-proofing to allow installation in wet rooms and at open air facilities with
atmospheric precipitation.
The monitor with a stainless steel body is recommended for facilitates with continuous exposure to
chemically aggressive media, sea water or salt fog.
Monitor with index “ver. 04-06” is equipped with heating. Operating temperature range for the monitor
with heating is -65 to +55ºC. Operating temperature range for the monitor without heating is +1 to
+55ºC.
Monitor set includes a transmitter to adjust an HDMI or VGA cable in an ex-proof area.
Wall-mounted swinging arm is not included in the monitor delivery set and is supplied upon request.

3USAGE INFORMATION
3.1 Design and function.
Ex-proof monitor is an ex-proof device connected to a personal computer, videorecorder or any other
equipment with an HDMI output.
The monitor body is made with stainless steel 12X18H10T or with low carbon steel St10-20 with
polymer powder coating.
Wall mounted swivel arm (supplied upon request) shall be made with stainless steel 12X18H10T or
low carbon steel St10-20 with polymer powder coating. Adjustment angles for monitor installed at a
swivel arm in horizontal plane shall be 60 degrees, in vertical plane - 30 degrees.

Monitor exterior is shown in Fig. 3. Monitor front panel has: screen (2), screen menu control button
(4). Mounting bracket fixture is located on the left and on the right sides of the monitor (3).
Earthing bolt is installed at the left bottom part of the monitor. At the right bottom part of the monitor,
3 cable glands (inputs) are installed for the power cable and transmitter signal cable. Inputs ensure
containment of cable glands. Terminals for connection of the wires are located under the lid of the wiring
section at the back panel of the monitor.
Connection to the interface of the HDMI or VGA monitor is made in an ex-proof area. For this purpose
the monitor is equipped with a transmitter. Transmitter is connected with the monitor with a UTP cable
(twisted pair). The cable line is connected to terminals in commutation section from one side and is
clamped with connector RJ45 and connected to transmitter from the other side. The length of the cable
line from the monitor to transmitter is 100 meters. Transmitter is supplied with a power adapter for 220V.

3.2 Image adjustment in the monitor.
Adjustment is made with controls shown in the screen menu.

For use of screen controls:
1. Press button to open the main screen menu.

2. Use buttons and to move from one sign to another. Select a sign and press button to obtain
access to the corresponding function. If there is a submenu, select a submenu item with buttons и
and then press button to select a function. Use buttons и to change settings. To save changes,
press button .
3. To exit a submenu and main screen, press button .
4. Press and hold for 10 seconds to block screen menu. This will help to prevent accidental changing
of settings. To unblock the screen menu and get an ability to change settings, press and hold button for
10 seconds.

3.3 Safe operation requirements
Assembly and operation shall be performed in compliance with the Operation Manual requirements,
chapter 7.3 “Electric installation Code”, GOST 30852.0.
Onsite assembly/disassembly, maintenance and repair operations of the monitor shall be performed in
compliance with the safety regulations specified for the facility. Maintenance personnel shall be
responsible for occupational safety.
When communication cables are installed, the following rules must be followed:
the communication line shall be located at distance from power cables, the communication line
cable shall cross the power cable at right angle;
when using shielded cables, shield earthing shall be reliable and shall be made only in one point.
In compliance with GOST 12.2.007.0-75, the monitor with power voltage up to 48V refers to III
protection class –unit operated at extra-low safety voltage.
Explosion safety of the monitor is provided by:
type of ex-proofing - “M” compound;
composition of the material which is used for production of the monitor complies with GOST
30852.0 for electric equipment of group I and II for different areas;
in normal operation, outer surface heating temperature does not exceed temperatures
recommended for electrical equipment of the corresponding temperature class (T6) as per GOST 30852.0

FORBIDDEN!
Use of abrasive materials, solvents or other aggressive liquids.
To touch the monitor screen with sharp or hard subjects.
Monitor cleaning shall be performed as follows:
Clean the body of the monitor and the screen with lightly wet soft tissue;
Clean the monitor and body from grease and finger prints with soft mild detergents.
3.4 Labelling
Monitor labelling shall contain the following information:
manufacturer’s name or logo;
nomenclature, conventional names and names;
ex-proofing labeling;
name of the explosion proofing certification organization and the certificate number;
environmental protection level;
power voltage;
date of issue;
factory number;
unified mark of product rotation in the market of the Customs Union member states;
special explosion safety mark;
marks of compliance with certification systems.
4PRODUCT ASSEMBLY ATTENTION!
Installation and connection of the monitor shall be performed by authorized personnel only.
4.1 Installation site finding
The monitor installation site shall correspond to the design arrangement;
to perform scheduled maintenance and emergency operations, easy access to the monitor shall be
provided.
4.2 Monitor assembly
Prior to installation, perform visual examination of the unit.
The body, cable gland and screen glasses shall not have any damages. Make sure the cover sealing of
the switching compartment at the back of the monitor is intact. Check for availability of all fastening
elements (bolts, nuts, washers).
Cabling and wiring operations, as well as earthing of the monitor, shall be performed in compliance
with the design project and the requirements of the Electrical Installation Code. Types of cables and
wires, as well as methods of cabling and wiring, shall be chosen with due regard to explosion-hazard area
class.
The monitor is mounted at the walls or other structures in the rooms in locations, that are not subject to
any mechanic influence: shocks, vibration, etc. Provide protection from dirt and dust in dusty production
areas.
Assembly and connection:
Install the swivel arm bracket at the designed location. The bracket has 6 holes of 14mm in
diameter (Fig. 1) for installation.
Follow precautions to keep the monitor screen safe and do not scratch the monitor body, place the
monitor face down to a flat soft surface;
Open the terminal chamber at the back of the monitor (Fig. 5);

Pull the power cable through the cable gland (twisted pair) to the monitor and connect the terminal
clamps in compliance with the connection diagram in Fig. 6;
Pull the signal cable through the cable gland and connect the terminal clamps, in compliance with
the connection diagram in Fig. 6;
Close and fix the lid of the terminal compartment;
Install the monitor at the swivel arm bracket and fix with bolts.
Connect the earthing and the neutral protection connector to the body of the monitor.
Remove the cable from the explosion hazard area to an ex-proof area, connect clamp RJ45 (Fig. 7)
and connect it to the transmitter;
Connect the cable from the computer (recorder) to the HDMI transmitter;
Switch on the monitor and transmitter power;
Switch on the monitor and perform settings in compliance with i.4.2 of the Manual.
4.3 Water resistance
Ensure airtightness of the connections and lid of the communication compartment. Water resistance is
an important parameter that ensures stable performance of the monitor device in the process of operation.
ATTENTION!
Installation company shall be responsible for monitor shell tightness in the process of assembly.

5TECHNICAL MAINTENANCE
WARNING
Open the commutation compartment lid only when the power is off.
The monitor is subject to periodical visual examination and cleaning. Periodical examination shall be
performed at the periods specified by technical guidelines of the organization with regard to production
conditions but not less than once a year.
When performing technical maintenance of the monitor, examine the following:
integrity of the body (absence of dents or other mechanic damages);
integrity of the screen glass;
availability of all fixing elements and components, quality of connections;
presence of ex-proofing marking;
condition of sealing of inserted cables. Examination is performed when the monitor is destressed;
condition of earthing devices.
Mechanic damages of explosion-proofing are not allowed.

It is strictly prohibited to use the monitor with damaged components if these components ensure ex-
proofing.
6TROUBLESHOOTING
ATTENTION!
Do not disassemble the monitor without prior powering off the line.
Troubleshooting procedure shall be performed in the following sequence:
1. Check the power of the monitor.
2. Check power of the transmitter.
3. Check availability of video signal at the transmitter input.
4. Check integrity and connection on the line from the monitor to transmitter.
5. Check for correct connection of the monitor in compliance with connection diagrams of the
present OM.
6. Check contacts in terminal clamps and in the signal line.
In all other cases if the defect is not cured by other means specified above, sent the monitor to the

7REPAIR AND RETURN OF THE DEVICE
If any defects or failures occur, the Customer solely issues a failure certificate with the defect
description. The monitor along with the product passport and certificate shall be returned to the
manufacturer.
Type of the monitor packaging is described in section 9 “Transportation and storage”.

8MANUFACTURER’S WARRANTY
Specified lifetime for the monitor is 10 years minimum.
Warranty period is 12 months since commissioning, but not longer than 48 months since sale.
After 24 months of service, supplementary warranty period shall be issued via service
WARRANTY EXTENSION at http://spectron-ops.ru/.
Warranty repairs are in compliance with GOST R IEC 60079-19 and the monitor shall be replaced
by the manufacturer only if the Customer follows all transportation, storage and operation
requirements.
The Manufacturer shall not accept any claims when the warranty period expires, or if the product
passport for the monitor is not provided or if the Operating Manual is not followed; or in case if
connection patterns not designated by the Manufacturer are used.
9TRANSPORTATION AND STORAGE
For transportation, the monitor shall be packed in a factory package or suitable box, wrapped in air-
bubbled film, foam core or other shock absorbent material. If several items are packed in one box,
spacers must be placed between them.
It is allowed to transport the monitor at any distance by any transport. Protection of the
transportation package from precipitation must be provided for the period of transportation.
During loading and off-loading and during transportation, the monitor shall not be exposed to
shocks or atmospheric precipitation. During transportation, the box with the monitor shall be placed in
such a manner so that to prevent uncontrolled relocation.
10 ORDERING INFORMATION
