Systems GmbH.
2 Camera function
The EC-750 Ex DOME Cameras are explosion proofed cameras for applications of video
surveillance in an explosive risk environment like petrochemical plants, gas storage and
transportation, offshore platforms, drilling rigs or drillships, silos or others. They are certified
according to ATEX directive for installation in hazardous areas of zones 1, 2, 21 and 22.
The EC-750 Ex DOME Cameras have a compact volume with a tilt / rotate viewing head. The
cameras have a high quality night and day 18x optical zoom lens with a versatile video IP server
or CVBS output, depending on the camera variant.

10 Safety Advice
This chapter is a summary of the key safety measures. The
summary is supplementary to existing rules which staff also have to
study.
The safety of persons and equipment in hazardous areas depends
on compliance with all relevant safety regulations. Thus, the
installation and maintenance staff carry a particular responsibility,
requiring precise knowledge of the applicable regulations and
conditions.
The notes listed below in section 10.1 must be heeded to avoid injury
and damage to equipment !
10.1 Installation and operation
Please note the following when installing and operating the device:
The national regulations for installation and assembly apply (e.g. EN 60079-1).
The EC-750 Ex DOME Camera may be installed in zones 1, 2, 21 or 22.
The EC-750 Ex DOME Camera had to be installed exclusively downwards with the plastic
cover/window. The camera is mainly designed for a “hanging down” installation on the
ceiling or wall.
Do not open when energized.
Do not open when an explosive atmosphere may be present.
The EC-750 Ex DOME Camera should be connected while unplugged.
Protect the EC-750 Ex DOME Camera against over voltage and voltage surge.
The camera had to be de-energized before it is unplugged from the cabel/system.
The EC-750 Ex DOME Camera should be used exclusively within the temperature range
defined in paragraph 7.
Mains or power supply should be properly earthened.
Before switching on the EC-750 Ex DOME Camera the fixation of mechanical links and
electrical connexions of each component must been checked.
National safety and accident prevention rules.
Generally accepted technical rules.
Safety instructions contained in these operating instructions.
Any damage may compromise the explosion protection !
Use the EC-750 Ex DOME Camera for its intended purpose only (see "camera function").
Incorrect or unauthorized use and non-compliance with the instructions in this manual will void
any warranty on our part.
No changes may be made to the EC-750 Ex DOME Camera or its components that compromise
explosion protection !
NOTICE
CAUTION

When using the camera the operator will have to take into account the fact that the plastic
cover/window has been tested only against small energy mechanical shock.
The EC-750 Ex DOME Camera may only be installed and operated in an undamaged, dry and
clean condition !
10.1.1 Zone 21, 22
When assembling the lid of the camera housing, the O-ring seals must be greased (e.g.
with silicone grease). All cable glands must have at least IP68.
User shall perform a regular cleaning of material, with soft and wet cloth in order to limit
dust layers on the material sides. In this case the user had to observe that only water and
no Alcohol or dissolver will be used for that !
10.2 Special conditions
Each EC-750 Ex DOME Camera version must be associated with the adequate
connector.
The plastic cover/window of the EC-750 Ex DOME Camera should be cleaned only with a
damp cloth (use only water, no Alcohol or dissolver).
The operating ambient temperature is for camera version with cable gland
at T6 and T85°C, -20 °C ≤ Ta ≤ +55 °C
at T5 and T100°C, -20 °C ≤ Ta ≤ +60 °C
11 Installation
11.1 General information
Electrical plants are subject to certain regulations concerning
installation and operation (e.g. RL 1999/92/EC, RL 2014/34/EU and
IEC/EN 60079-14).
It is the responsibility of the operators of electrical installations in
hazardous environments to ensure that the equipment is kept in
proper condition, is operated according to instructions and that
maintenance and repairs are carried out.
11.2 EC-750 Ex DOME Camera
The explosion proof housing of the EC-750 Ex DOME Camera should be installed in
compliance with the recommendations of the following standard EN 60079-14,
EN 60079-17 and EN 50281-1-2.
The free extremity of the short umbilical cable must be connected to the main umbilical
cable either within an enclosure that is certified for the given application, otherwise, this
junction box must be placed away from the dangerous zone.
The earth/ground (PA) connector at the top of the EC-750 Ex DOME Camera housing
must be connected to the equipotential bonding conductor of the hazardous area. The
earth connector must have a minimum cross section of 4 mm².
