10 Safety Advice
This chapter is a summary of the key safety measures. The
summary is supplementary to existing rules which staff also have to
study.
The safety of persons and equipment in hazardous areas depends
on compliance with all relevant safety regulations. Thus, the
installation and maintenance staff carry a particular responsibility,
requiring precise knowledge of the applicable regulations and
conditions. Requiring precise knowledge of the applicable
regulations and conditions.
The notes listed below in section 10.1 must be heeded to avoid injury
and damage to equipment !
10.1 Installation and operation
Please note the following when installing and operating the device:
The national regulations for installation and assembly apply (e.g. IEC/EN 60079-14).
The EC-940-AFZ cameras may be installed in zones 1 or 2 and 21 or 22.
The camera must not be opened while connected to power.
The camera must not be connected whilst switched on.
The camera must be switched off before it is disconnected from the cable / connected
system.
The camera's power supply or its main circuits must be safely grounded.
Before switching on the EC-940-AFZ camera ensure that the mechanical and electrical
connections of all components fit securely.
National safety and accident prevention rules.
Generally accepted technical rules.
Safety instructions of this manual / these operating instructions.
Any damage may compromise the explosion protection !
Use the EC-940-AFZ cameras for their intended purpose only (see "Camera Function").
Incorrect or unauthorized use and non-compliance with the instructions in this manual / these
operating instructions will void any warranty on our part.
No changes may be made to the EC-940-AFZ camera or one of its components that
compromise explosion protection !
The camera may only be installed and operated in an undamaged, dry and clean condition !

10.2 Connecting conditions
The Camera Enclosure of the type family EC-940-***-***-**K-*** (assembling completely in the
type of protection "Flameproof enclosures") shall be connected with suitable cable glands or
conduit systems that meet the requirements set forth in EN 60079-1, sections 13.1 and 13.2,
and for which a separate test certificate has been issued. If the Camera Enclosure is connected
to conduit systems, the required sealing device shall be provided immediately at the enclosure.
Openings that are not used shall be sealed in compliance with the specifications in
EN 60079-1, section 11.9.
If connection is made in the potentially explosive area, the connecting wire of the Camera
Enclosure shall be connected in an enclosure that meets the requirements of an approved
type of protection in accordance with IEC 60079-0, section 1.
The connecting wire of the Camera Enclosure shall be fixed and routed so that it will be
adequately protected against mechanical damage.
If the temperature at entry fittings exceeds 70 °C, temperature-resistant connecting cables
shall be used.
The Camera Enclosure shall be included into the local equipotential bonding solution of the
potentially explosive location.
10.3 Warning notes
Do not open when live !
Wait for 15 minutes after switching the camera off before opening it !
Do not open, maintain or repair the camera in areas where there
may be an explosive atmosphere !
The camera must not be installed in locations where the labels may
be exposed to an electrostatic charge greater than that caused by
mechanical rubbing. *
* Examples of processes where electrostatic charges occur that are greater than those
caused by mechanical rubbing:
The camera is in an area
- where there may be dust agitation caused by pneumatics or gravity (camera
installed on the floor of a dust silo)
- closer than 1 m to a source of high voltage

11 Installation
11.1 General information
Electrical plants are subject to certain regulations concerning
installation and operation (e.g. RL 1999/92/EG, RL 2014/34/EU and
IEC/EN 60 079-14).
The users of electrical installations in hazardous environments must
ensure that the equipment is kept in proper condition, is operated
according to instructions and that maintenance and repairs are
carried out.
The details of used associated equipment must be observed (for example permitted cable
diameter for used cable glands, tighten rules, cable clamping).
Unused openings must be closed by a suitable blind plug.
The connectors are designed to be readily connected or disconnected without load.
The cameras are sealed with a stick-on label at the screw connections to the Ex d box.
For safe transport a foam piece is inserted between the camera tube and the sun
protection. This foam piece must be removed BEFORE commissioning the camera.
According to IEC 60950, a suitable, easily accessible circuit breaker must be installed
outside of the camera which can cut the power line.
11.2 Special requirements
The camera may be installed and operated in any position.
The camera must be securely installed ! Use the mounting options provided by the
camera bracket !
If necessary, the camera must be secured with an additional steel chain (fall protection).
Disconnect the camera from the mains prior to assembly, maintenance or repair.
The camera enclosure is available with an Ex e connection box. The Ex e connection box
contains mounting options for further associated equipment (e.g. cable glands, cable
connections).
This associated equipment must meet the related IEC requirements:
for Ex e connection boxes this is IEC 60079-7
for Ex t connection boxes this is IEC 60079-31
