Do not place the product in a location near a heat source such as a radiator, or in an
area subject to direct sunlight, excessive dust, mechanical vibration or shock
The product must not be exposed to dripping or splashing and no objects filled with
liquids, such as vases, shall be placed on the product
No naked flame sources, such as lighted candles, should be placed on the product
Allow adequate air circulation and avoid obstructing vents (if present) to prevent
internal heat build-up. The ventilation must not be impeded by covering the appliance
with items such as newspapers, table-cloths, curtains etc.
The mains plug is used to disconnect the appliance from the mains supply. Ensure that
the mains outlet is easily-accessible and remove the plug from the mains outlet if you
notice any abnormality with the appliance.
Disconnect from mains before cleaning! Never use solvents or aggressive detergents
in order to clean the device! Rather use a soft and damp cloth.

Thank you for purchasing the SubZero AX230
Active Crossover. To get the most out of your new
product, please read this manual carefully.
FEATURES
The AX230 is a stereo 2-way/mono 3-way active
crossover for bi-amplified sound systems. The
Linkwitz-Riley filters with adjustable crossover
frequencies offer a constant summed amplitude
response and are complemented by 25Hz Low
Cut Filters for the inputs, as well as a Mute function
and Phase reverse for all outputs. An additional
subwoofer output with separate crossover
frequency control makes this unit effectively a
3-way crossover.

OVERVIEW
1. AC Input
AC inlet and fuse holder. Use the supplied power
cable for your region to connect the unit to AC
mains. Make sure the voltage selection indicator
on the side of the unit and the frequency stated
on the unit matches your local AC supply.. The
fuse can be accessed by the small drawer at the
AC inlet. To change the fuse, unplug the AC cord
first, pull out the fuse drawer and replace the fuse
ONLY with a fuse of SAME voltage and rating.
If the fuse blows again after replacement, hand
over the unit to qualified service personnel.
2. MODE SWITCH
This switch determines whether the unit works
in 2-way stereo mode or in 3-way mono mode
(Pressed IN = STEREO, Pressed OUT = MONO).
Please note that depending on the position of
this switch, the functional assignment of the
front-panel controls and rear-panel connections
may change. To determine the front panel
control function assignment, notice the ACTIVE
CONTROL LEDs (8, see below), they will indicate
the setting and functional assignment (ON =
MONO, OFF = STEREO).
NOTE: Do NOT change this switch setting when
the sound system is switched on.
3. INPUTS
Each input has a different function depending
on whether the crossover is in Mono or Stereo
mode (2).
Channel A
Mono Mode: Input to connect the mono output
channel from an audio source
(i.e Mixing Desk, etc).
Stereo Mode: Input to connect the left/right
output channel from an audio source
(i.e Mixing Desk, etc).
Channel B
Mono: Not Used.
Stereo: Input to connect the left/right output
channel from an audio source
(i.e Mixing Desk, etc).
4. FREQUENCY RANGE SWITCH (CH A & B)
This switch determines whether the front-panel
rotary frequency control (11, see below) works
either in the 44 to 930 Hz or 440 Hz to 9.3 kHz
range.
5. LOW OUTPUT
These are the balanced XLR connectors for
the low or mid frequency band output signal,
dependant on whether the crossover is in Mono
or Stereo mode.
Channel A
Mono Mode: Low frequency output.
Stereo Mode: Low frequency output.
Channel B
Mono: Mid frequency output.
Stereo: Low frequency output.
6. HIGH OUTPUT
These are the balanced XLR connectors for the
high frequency band output signal, dependant
on whether the crossover is in Mono or Stereo
mode.
Channel A
Mono Mode: Not used.
Stereo Mode: High frequency output.
Channel B
Mono: High frequency output.
Stereo: High frequency output.
7. SUBWOOFER OUTPUT
Subwoofer output connector. This is the
balanced XLR output for the mono subwoofer
signal. The cut-off frequency is determined by
the front-panel frequency control (16, see below)
and the level set by the front-panel control (17,
see below).

8. ACTIVE CONTROL LED
This row of LEDs illustrates the functional
assignment of the front panel dials, depending
on the setting of the MODE switch (2).
9. INPUT GAIN (CH A & B)
Input gain control. This sets the main input
gain, with a ±12dB range. The presence of a
signal and a possible clipping of the input are
indicated by the LEDs on top of the control. The
CLIP LED shall only light up occasionally at the
signal peaks.
10. LOW CUT (CH A & B)
Low cut switch. This switch activates the 25Hz
high-pass filter, with a 12 dB/Octave slope for
protection against infrasonic signals.
11. LOW/HIGH XOVER FREQUENCY (CH A & B)
Low/High cross over control. This control sets
the crossover frequency between the low and
high frequency bands. Depending on the
setting of the MODE switch (2), the assignment
changes in 3-way mono mode, where the
control in channel A serves as the Low/Mid
and the control in channel B as the Mid/High
crossover frequency setting.
12. OUTPUT LEVEL (CH A & B & S)
Output level control. These controls allow
to adjust the output level for the high/low
frequency band and the subwoofer individually
with a ±6dB range. Depending on the setting of
the MODE switch (2), the assignment changes
in 3-way mono mode, where the HIGH level
control in channel A is disabled; the LOW level
control in channel B serves as the MID level
control, and the HIGH level control in channel B
as the HIGH level control.
13. PHASE
Phase switch. Inverts the relative output
(180 degrees phase change).
14. MUTE
Mute switch. Mute each output individually.
15. SUBWOOFER XOVER FREQUENCY
Subwoofer cross over control. This control
sets the crossover frequency between the
subwoofer and low frequency bands from 10Hz
to 215Hz.
16. POWER
Power switch. Switches the unit on and off.

OVERVIEW
POWERING UP
Following a proper power up sequence protects
your equipment – specifically speakers – and your
ears. Please follow the below power up procedure:
1. Turn down all output volume controls of any
equipment in your audio system.
2. Switch on your audio sources/mixer first.
3. Switch on any audio processor between the
mixer and the amplifier(s) [if any].
4. Switch on the amplifier(s).
5. Turn up the volume level on your audio sources.
6. Set the audio output of your mixer to a low level.
7. Set the audio output of any audio processor
between the mixer and the amplifier(s) to a
medium level [if any].
8. Turn up the volume controls of your amplifier(s)
slowly.
9. Adjust all volume settings as needed.
For switching off, follow the sequence in reverse
– always switch off your amplifier(s) first, then any
processors between mixer and amplifier(s), then
the mixer, then the sources.
