INTRODUCTION
Tagine is a centuries old, North African method of cooking. The distinc-
tive conical cover shape is designed so that all the condensation during
cooking goes back into the food – thereby preserving moisture and
avours.
BEFORE FIRST USE
Unpacktheproductandremoveallpackaging.Useascrewdrivertot
the cool touch handle to the Tagine cover and regular lid of the product.
Doing this before washing the parts will make the cover much easier to
handle.
Wash the Taagine cover, regular lid and container in warm, soapy
water. Rinse and dry thoroughly. DO NOT immerse the power base in
water.
HOW TO USE
Place the power base on a level, stable surface. Place the container
onto the power base.
Addthefoodtothebasellingnomorethan2/3ofthewayupthe
sides.
Connect to the mains supply. The power light will illuminate. Set the
temperature control to LOW for cooking times more than 4 hours or
HIGH for cooking times less than that. If the contents of the Tagine
begin to boil, set the thermostat to KEEP WARM setting to simmer.
Refer to the individual recipe for cooking times.
NOTE: The Tagine pot is not suitable for using in a traditional oven or
on a hob. It should only be used with the power base

MOROCCAN TAGINE RECIPE
1/2 tablespoon olive oil
1 large onion, peeled and sliced into rings
0.5kg lamb meat, cut into 4cm cubes
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon ground coriander seed
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
salt to taste
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
2 apples (or pears) - peeled, cored and cut into 4cm chunks
50g sultanas (optional)
40gakedalmonds(optional)
In a separate large frypan, heat the oil over medium heat. Fry the onion
in the oil until soft. Add the lamb to the pan, and fry until just browned
on the outside. Season with cumin, coriander, ginger, cinnamon, salt
and pepper.
Remove from fry pan and add to the Tagine container pot.
Pour just enough water into the pot to cover the lamb. Cover, and
simmer over low heat for 1 1/2 to 2 hours, until meat is tender and the
mixture is stew-like. Uncover after an hour if there appears to be too
much liquid.
Add the apples/pears, sultanas and almonds to the stew, and cook for
another 5 minutes or so, until they are soft. Serve with rice.
For regular slow cooking use the glass lid included with the product.
There are some recipes included in a separate booklet. These are gen-
eral, tried and tested slow cooking recipes. However, you may need to
adjustthequantitiestotthis1.5Lmodelaccordingly.
As a general rule the total weight of ingredients for this model should
not exceed 1.2kg

wash container and covers as soon after use as possible. Both the cov-
ers and container are OK to put in the dishwasher.
Due to the unusual shape and weight distribution of the Tagine lid, take
extra care when handling. Replacements are expensive!
Clean the outer surfaces with a soft cloth moistened with a mild de-
tergent solution. Never use abrasive cleaners or metal implements to
clean the appliance as this will damage the surfaces.
Always ensure the various parts are dried thoroughly before putting
away
