USB Playback Speaker
Instructions

OVERVIEW
Before powering on your new Synapptic speaker, let’s take a
look at the overall layout and design.
The speaker is black in colour, with high contrast, large print
lettering and bright yellow tactile buttons.
Located on the bottom of the speaker is a rectangular stand
with four small rubber feet in the corners to keep the device
steady when placed on a table or other surface. The stand is
illuminated with a small light which changes colour depending
on whether the speaker is charging or playing.
The top of the speaker has a slightly raised yellow rectangular
section with a rectangular hole in the center to plug a memory
stick into.
The front of the speaker has six raised yellow buttons that
control playback and volume.
On the rear of the speaker is the power switch, along with the
charging and other sockets.
The loudspeakers are located at each end of the device and
are protected by a black metal grille.

The rear of the speaker has the following sockets and controls:
Charging socket
The charging socket is marked by a protruding yellow
ring approximately half an inch in size. Plug the small
end of the charging wire into centre of this ring.
Power switch
Apart from the charging socket ring, the only other
protruding control on the back of the speaker is the
power switch. With the back of the speaker facing you,
slide the power switch gently to the right to switch the
speaker on and to the left to switch it off.

Antenna socket
To the left of the charging socket is a small socket for the
FM radio antenna. Plug the supplied cable into this
socket before using the FM radio feature. Do not plug the
power cable into this socket!
Line in socket
To the right of the charging socket is a small socket for
‘line in’. This allows the output from a phone or other
audio device to be connected to the speaker and play
audio out of the speaker. Use the supplied cable to
connect the other device to the speaker. Do not plug the
power cable into this socket!
Note: The cable for the antenna and line-in feature are
the same cable.
Micro SD Card socket
To the right of the power switch is a small rectangular
socket. Plug a MicroSD card into this socket to play
audio files from a MicroSD card.
PLAYING A MEMORY STICK
To play a memory stick, simply insert it into the slot on the top
of the player and switch the speaker on. The speaker will find
the audio and start playing automatically. Use the buttons as
described above to navigate the audio content.

BOOKMARKING & PAUSING
When the speaker is turned off, or the memory stick is
removed, the currently playing track is remembered. When the
speaker is switched back on or the memory stick plugged in
again, playback will resume from the start of the track that was
last being played. (If a different memory stick is inserted, the
bookmarking is reset).
To pause playback and resume at the exact location again,
simply press the Play/Pause button on the front of the speaker.
When ready to start playing again, press the Play/Pause
button.
If the device isn’t plugged in on charge, the track can be
paused for several hours before having an effect on the
battery. If the speaker is charging, the track can be paused for
as long as required.
CHARGING THE BATTERY
We recommend fully charging the device overnight before first
use. Only use the charger wire supplied with the player.

The charging wire has a rectangular USB plug on one end and
a small barrel plug the other end. Plug the USB plug into a
suitable USB socket and the barrel plug into the player.
Note: Only a charging wire is supplied with the speaker. A
mains charger is not included. This is to help reduce e-waste,
as most people have a suitable charger already.
Any mains charger, or other device with a rectangular USB
socket, can be used to charge the speaker. This could be a
mains charger for a phone, tablet or the USB socket on a
computer or laptop.
When the speaker is charging the light illuminating the stand on
the bottom of the speaker will change to red. The red light will
go off when the battery is fully charged.
If you do not have a mains charger, one can be purchased
from ourselves for a small fee.
USING THE FM RADIO FEATURE
To use the FM radio feature, first plug in the supplied cable to
the Antenna socket. The antenna cable has two identical small
plugs at each end. This cable acts as the antenna.

Press the Mode button to switch to FM player mode. You may
need to press it several times. Alternatively, just remove all
memory sticks and MicroSD cards from the player. The player
will the revert to FM radio mode automatically.
Use the Previous Track and Next Track buttons to switch
between available stations.
PLAYING AUDIO FROM A MICROSD CARD
To play audio from a MicroSD card, insert the card with the
gold contacts facing up into the socket on the back of the
player.
If playback does not start automatically, press the Mode button.
You may need to press the Mode button several times.
LIGHTS
The stand on the bottom of the speaker is illuminated with a
small light that changes colour depending on whether the
speaker is charging or playing.
When charging the light is red, when playing the light is blue.
