INSTALLATION
• Do not use the unit in places which are extremely hot, cold, dusty, or humid.

AC VOLTAGE

CONDENSATION
• When there is condensation inside the unit, it may not function normally.
• Unplugtheunitfor1to2hoursbeforeturningthepowerbackon,orgraduallyheattheroomupanddry
the unit before use.
• Ensureaminimumdistanceof5cmaroundtheapparatusforsufcientventilation.
• Donotimpedetheventilationbycoveringtheventilationopeningswithitemssuchasnewspapers,table
cloths, curtains, etc.

Using the AC power supply
InserttheACpowercordintoanACmainsoutletwitha230VAC~50Hzpowersource.
Installing the remote control battery
1. Remove the battery compartment cover on the bottom of the remote control.
2. Insert21.5VAAA/LR03batteries(notsupplied)withthepolaritymatchingtheindicationinside
the battery compartment cover.
3. Replace the battery compartment cover.
Note: The remote control battery normally lasts for about one year, although it depends on how often
and for what operations the remote control is used. If the remote control fails to work even when it is
operated near the unit, replace the battery.
Precautions when using batteries
1. Useonlythesizeandtypeofbatteriesspecied.
2. Donotmixdifferenttypesofbatteriestogether(e.g.alkaline,rechargeableandstandard(carbon
zinc))oroldbatterieswithfreshones.
3. Exhaustedbatteriesmustberemovedtopreventanybatteryleakage.
4. Disposeofbatteriesproperlyaccordingtoenvironmentalregulations.
BASIC OPERATION
Connect the speakers
Connect the speakers to the SP R/Lonthemainunitusingtheintegratedcables.
ON/ Standby mode
PresstheON/STANDBYbuttontoturnontheunitandpressitagaintogotostandbymode.
Clock time setting
1. In standby mode, press and hold the PROGRAM/CLOCK-ADJbuttonandthemessage
“24hour”willash.
2. Pressthe/buttonstoselectthe24-houror12-hourdisplaymode
and then press the PROGRAM/CLOCK-ADJbuttontoconrm.
Thehourdigitswillash.
3. Press the / buttons to set the hours.
4. Press the PROGRAM/CLOCK-ADJbuttontoconrmandtheminutedigitswillash.
5. Press the / buttons to set the minutes.
6. Press the PROGRAM/CLOCK-ADJbuttonagaintoconrmthetimesetting.
Selecting the source
When the unit is switched on, press the FUNCTIONbuttonrepeatedlytoselectoneofthefollowing
sources: CD, USB, FM, AUX.

Start playback
1. Press the button to open the CD compartment.
2. Insertadiscwiththelabelsidefacingup.
3. Close the CD compartment.
4. When the unit is switched on, press the FUNCTION button to select CD
mode.Theunitwillreadthediscandafterreading,thetotalnumberof
trackswillbedisplayed.Pressthebuttontostartplaybackfromthersttrack.During
playback, the track number will be displayed.
Pause playback
Pressthebuttontopauseplayback.The“”symbolwillash.Pressthisbuttonagain
to resume playback.
Stop playback
Pressthebuttontostopplayback.Pressthebuttontostartplaybackfromthersttrack.
Search function
Skip to the next/ previous track
1. Press the button to skip to the next track.
2. Pressthebuttononcetoskiptothebeginningofthecurrenttrack.Pressittwicetoskipto
the previous track.
Press the +10 TRACK or -10 TRACK button on the remote control to skip 10 tracks forward or back.
Search within a track
Duringplayback,holddowntheorbuttontogofastbackwardsorforwardsandthen
release the button. Normal playback will resume from that point.
Skip to the next/previous folder (for MP3/ WMA les only)
Press the FOLDER UP/DOWN button to skip to the next or previous folder.

VOLUME control
Use the VOLUME -/+ buttons to adjust the volume level.
MUTE function
Press MUTEbuttonontheremotecontroltoshutoffthesound.Pressitagainorusethe
VOLUME +/- buttons to resume the sound.
Connecting headphones
Pluginheadphones(notsupplied)tothephonesjackatthefrontoftheunitforprivatelistening.The
speaker output will be shut off automatically.
RADIO OPERATION
Listen to the radio
1. Press the button to turn on the unit.
2. PresstheFUNCTIONbuttontoselect“FM”.
3. Turn the TUNINGdialtondastation.Theradiofrequencyis
indicated on the LCD display
FM Stereo / Mono selection
In FM mode, set the MODE switch to FM or FM ST to select mono or stereo sound. The LED FM ST.
indicator is displayed when stereo sound is selected and an FM stereo station is received. When the
FMsignalisweakandsounddistortionoccurs,itisbettertoselectmonosound.
Achieve optimum reception
In FM mode, extend and position the FM antenna to achieve optimum reception.

Programmed playback
Youcanprogramupto20foldersortracks.
1. In STOP mode, press the PROG RAM/CLOCK-ADJ button and the
message“P01PROGRAM”willash.
2. Pressthe/buttonstoselectthetracknumber.
3. Press the PROG RAM/CLOCK-ADJbuttontoconrm.
4. Repeatsteps2and3abovetoprogramothertracks.
5. Toplaytheprogram,pressthebutton.
6. Tocleartheprogram,pressthebuttontwiceoropen/closetheCD
compartmentorgotostandbymode.
WhenprogrammingaCDcontainingMP3/ WMAles,youcanpressthe
PRESET/FOLDER UP / DOWN buttons to select the folder in which you
wanttoprogramthetracks.
USB DEVICE OPERATION
Insert a USB device into the USB port at the front of the unit. When the unit
isswitchedon,presstheFUNCTIONbuttonrepeatedlytoselect“USB”or
“CARD”mode.Referto“CD/ MP3 / WMA PLAYER OPERATION”to
play MP3/ WMAles.
Note: Due to technical differences, some models of USB storage devices or MP3 players may take
longer to be read. In some cases, they may not even be read.
AUX IN FUNCTION
This unit has an AUX IN jack which allows you to connect an external audio device (such as an MP3
player)usingacable,eitherbyusingtheLINEOUTjackortheheadphonesjack.
1.Pluganaudiocable(notsupplied)intotheAUXINjack.
2.Whentheunitisswitchedon,presstheFUNCTIONbuttontoselect“AUX”.
3. Operate your external audio device as usual to select and play music.
4. Adjust the volume controls on both your external audio device and this unit to the desired volume
level.
Note: In AUX IN mode, this unit display cannot show any music information (e.g. track number) for
your external audio device.

Care and maintenance
Tocleantheunit,unplugitandwipeoffdustandstainswithasoftclothmoistenedwithamildsoapand
watersolutiononly.Donotusebenzene,thinnerorsimilarchemicalstocleantheunit.
Cleaning CD discs
Ifthemusicskipsordoesnotplay,thediscmayneedcleaning.Beforeplayback,wipethediscfromthe
center out with a clean cloth. After use, store the disc in its case.
If at any time in the future you should need to dispose of this product, please note that waste
electrical products should not be disposed of with household waste. Please recycle where facili-
tiesexist.Checkwithyourlocalauthorityorretailerforrecyclingadvice(WasteElectricaland
ElectronicEquipmentDirective).
