SAFETY STANDARDS AND GUIDELINES
Most accidents are caused by human errors. The operator must be careful and
methodical and take the necessary precautions in order to avoid the possibility of
injury or death.
Next, a series of mandatory regulations are established to avoid unnecessary risks that
could lead to possible accidents.
STEP 1: BEFORE YOU START USING THE MIXER
- Carefully study and understand this manual.
- Before start working with the mixer, the operator must
familiarize with the controls, with their functions and should read
carefully this instruction manual.
- It is strictly forbidden to perform any operation with the mixer
before reading the owner’s manual and receiving the training
from TATOMA.
- Respect the instructions contained in this manual, and the
legislation related to safety and accident prevention
requirements.
- Do not wear loose clothing that can be caught by moving parts. Always wear
protective clothing and appropriate footwear.
- Keep the wheel nuts or bolts tightened to the specified torque (220 ft-lb), and make
sure the tires are inflated evenly.
- Dedicate a previous visual inspection to check for loose bolts, defective parts or
broken welds, and make the necessary repairs. Follow the safety and maintenance
instructions included in this manual.
- Make sure there are no tools on the floor, on the mixer or inside the mixing bowl.
- Do not use the mixer till you are sure the area is completely clear of personnel.
- It is the responsibility of the mixer operator, to know the lighting requirements
established by the local and road authorities, so will have to install and maintain the

- All operators involved in the operation of the mixer must practice the mixing
operation in empty, as well as the loading and unloading operations, until they
become fully familiar with them, before using the loaded mixer.
- Do not rush the learning process and do not take anything for granted, it is essential
to familiarize yourself with your new mixer before operating.
- Do not attempt to operate the mixer under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
STEP 2: MIXER SET UP
- Before using the mixer, check that all protection devices are in place and in good
condition. If a protection is removed for maintenance or repair, reinstall it immediately
after maintenance or repair is completed. Damaged protections must be replaced
immediately.
- The mixer has been designed to be towed by a tractor. It is strictly forbidden to use
any other type of vehicle for towing, as the stability and visibility conditions on the
different mixer mechanisms during the use may vary considerably.
In order to hitch the tractor with the mixer, consider the following:
- Make sure nobody is around the mixer when approaching the tractor.
- Adjust the height of the hitch and center the shot with the tractor, never center it
manually. Perform this operation with the mixer completely horizontal.
- When lowering the jack, make sure that there is no crushing risk.
- Couple the mixer hoses and electric connections to the tractor using work gloves.
Once the mixer is hitched, in order to connect the PTO shaft, take into account the
following precautions:
- Check that the hitch has been correctly made.
- To avoid transmission damage, adjust the tractor drawbar to the recommended
setting. The mixer should be leveled with the tractor when hitching.
- Be sure the tractor power take-off is not working.
- Handle the transmission elements with work gloves.
- Do not wear loose clothes at the time of this operation.
- Do not pass or jump over the PTO shaft.

- Respect the position of the PTO shaft protections (tractor and mixer sides) and fix
them in their correct location using the appropriate devices.
- Finally unlock the parking brake.
STEP 3: START USING THE MIXER
- Before accessing the tractor cabin check the status of the different mechanisms and
protections of the mixer.
- Adjust the driver's seat so that access to the mixer controls is carried out
comfortably.
- Adjust the rearview mirrors of the tractor so that there is good visibility on the mixer
mechanisms, without their adjustment affecting the visibility for driving. It is
recommended to request the help of another person to perform this operation.
- Check the presence of people before moving the mixer. Be careful with the
spectators, especially with the children. Always look around to make sure it is safe to
start the engine and move the unit. If necessary, indicate with the horn or other means
that the mixer will be set in motion. This is very important, since with the noise levels
of the tractor / mixer and the isolation of the cabins, you cannot hear people
screaming.
- It is strictly forbidden to operate the mixer by several people simultaneously, so it will
only be used by the driver.
- It is strictly forbidden to transport people, animals or any type of objects on the
mixer.
- Under no circumstances will the mixer be used to tow other vehicles, move or push
objects or lift loads. It is strictly forbidden to access the mixer through the loading
device or use it by people, as a system to reach high points.
- In order to maneuver, make sure there are no people or obstacles behind or near the
mixer, in case you don’t have enough visibility, request the help of other people.

STEP 4: DRIVING THE MIXER
- The driving of the mixer must be adapted to the conditions of the terrain or the route
through which it circulates.
- Maintain a prudential distance to ditches, canals, gutters, slopes, ditches, etc., since it
can yield the ground and cause the mixer to tip over, together with the tractor.
- Access to the mixer, or the proximity to its work area, should be prohibited to any
person outside the operation in which it operates.
- When working with the mixer, the operator must always check that there is nobody
in the work area. Likewise, you must report the risks that exist to the personnel close
to their work area.
- During the loading of the machine the driver must ensure that there is nobody on the
silo. In case of direct loading to the tank from the automatic silo, the driver will remain
inside the cabin at all times. If the load is made with auxiliary machinery, the access of
people in the work area must be prohibited. Never exceed the load capacity of the
mixer.
- Observe the work area and the terrain, watch out for holes, rocks or other obstacles.
Always inspect the area before operation.
- Avoid sudden starts and stops. Choose a uniform level as a route during transport
through the fields.
- Do not use the mixer near the edge of slopes or terraces. Do not operate on steep
slopes. Operate from top to bottom and not through the slopes.

- Maneuver the vehicle at safe speeds. Reduce speed before turning to avoid the risk
of tipping over. Avoid sharp turns uphill on steep slopes.
- Always keep the vehicle running to provide engine braking when going downhill.
- Avoid aerial, electrical and telephone cables or other
obstacles
- Contact with electric overhead lines could cause
serious injury or death.
STEP 5: ROAD TRANSPORTATION
- Comply with state and local laws governing road safety and the circulation of
agricultural machinery on public roads.
- When driving on public roads with the mixer, the rules of the current traffic code
must be observed and respected.
- In order to maneuver or move with the road mixer, the loading/unloading system
(depending on the model) must be in its transport position.
- Use approved lighting fixtures, banners and warning devices necessary to protect
other vehicles drivers on the road during the day and night transportation.
- The use of flashing amber lights is acceptable in most locations, however, some
prohibit their use. It must be checked for all road lighting and comply with the
requirements established by local laws.
- When driving the mixer by road or highway below 20 MPH (40 KPH) at night or during
the day, use amber or / and a slow moving vehicle (SMV) with the emblem of
identification.
- Plan your route to avoid heavy traffic. Be a courteous and safe driver. Always give
way to traffic in risky situations, such as narrow bridges, intersections, etc.

- Respect the load and height ratings of bridges and tunnels. Do not cross bridges or
tunnels with a rating lower than the total weight or height of the tractor-mixer
assembly.
STEP 6: DURING OPERATION, MOVING ELEMENTS
- When the mixer is in operation, do not look inside the tub, or handle the product
inside it.
- If it is necessary to access the tub, keep in mind there is a danger of falling. Access to
the tub must be carried out exclusively by experienced personnel, with the mixer
completely stopped and with the tractor key held by the person accessing it.
- Before accessing the inside of the tub, it is recommended, as an additional safety
measure, to disconnect the cardan from the tractor power take-off.
- It is strictly forbidden to incorporate devices into the mixer, which allow access to the
tank with a height higher than the marked by the last step of the access ladder.
- Operate with the utmost caution when handling the mobile elements of the mixer
and make sure that there is nobody close before operating them, otherwise, the mixer
driver must proceed to warn and evacuate the work area.
- Do not open the protections of the mixer mechanisms when they are running, or
manipulate moving elements such as the unloading conveyor, etc.
- Do not clean, lubricate or adjust the mixer while it is moving.
- Caution, do not wear loose clothing when approaching the moving parts of the mixer
or the power take-off and gimbal. Check at all times that all safety guards and
protections are in their correct position and in good condition.
- As a precaution, recheck the mixer every 100 hours of operation. Correct all problems
and follow maintenance safety procedures.
- Never leave the mixer running

STEP 7: MAINTENANCE WORKS. HIGH PRESSURE FLUIDS, WELDS…
It is the responsibility of the owner/operator
of the mixer to perform good maintenance.
Poor maintenance is an invitation to problems
and breakdowns.
- The area where machine maintenance work is carried out
should be sufficiently ventilated. Never do these works with
the tractor engine running in a closed building. Exhaust gases
can cause suffocation.
- Before working inside the mixer, stop the vehicle completely,
apply the parking brake, disengage the power take-off and
power cables, turn off the engine and remove the ignition key.
- Make sure all moving parts of the accessories have stopped
completely before performing any maintenance work.
- Always use a safety system to block the wheels, such as parking blocks. Never use a
jack to support or support the machine while doing such work.
- Always use the most appropriate tools and equipment for the type of work you do by
hand. Always wear protective gloves and be very careful when making adjustments.
- Replace all covers and protections after repair and before moving the mixer.
- After work, make sure that all the tools, parts and
equipment that have intervened in the service are collected
separately.
- Pressurized fluid can penetrate the skin through openings
and small wounds and cause serious injury or death.
- Avoid this danger, relieving hydraulic pressure before
disconnecting any hydraulic line. Tighten all connections
before applying pressure.
- Never use your hands to locate hydraulic leaks in pressure
pipes. Look for possible leaks with a small piece of cardboard
where oil is reflected and protects hands and body from high
pressure fluids.

- If such an accident occurs, go to the nearest
medical center immediately. The fluid injected into
the skin should be surgically removed within the first
few hours or it could cause gangrene.
- Do not allow grease to accumulate and remove
spilled oil immediately from the ladder and the
operator platform and other access areas. Keep all
access areas clean and clear of obstacles.
- Never replace the original screws with others of less than grade eight (8.8), unless
otherwise specified.
- A first aid kit must be accessible in the performance of the maintenance work of this
mixer.
- When welding work is carried out on the mixer, prevent current from flowing through
the balls of the bearings or the chain rollers by directly grounding the element being
welded.
- Clean the area before welding and have an extinguisher accessible at all times.
- Always disconnect when welding, weighing scale, load cells and power supply,
preventing electricity from passing through them. Also disconnect the alternator from
the tractor if the mixer is still attached to it when welding.
- Tire explosion may cause serious injury. Do not
exceed the recommended tire pressure. See the
Specifications section of the Owner’s Manual, to
apply the correct pressure to the tires.
- Replace worn or damaged tires with the one
corresponding to the equipped tire. See the
Specifications section of the Instruction Manual for
