!Avoid installing the unit in locations described below:
1. Places exposed to direct sunlight or close to heat radiating appliance such as electric
heaters, on top of other stereo equipment that radiate too much heat.
2. Places locking ventilation or dusty places.
3. Places subject to constant vibration.

!Operate turning controls and switches as instructed in manual.
!Before turning on the power for the first time, make sure that the power cord is properly
installed.

POWER SUPPLY
1. BATTERY OPERATION
–REMOVE THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT DOOR.
–INSERT 8 PIECES UM-2 (C SIZE) BATTERIES INTO THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT
WITH BATTERY POLARITY POSITIONED AS INDICATED.
NOTE: WE RECOMMEND THE USE OF ALKALINE BATTERIES.
–CLOSE THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT DOOR.
2. AC OPERATION
-PLUG THE AC LINE CORD INTO ANY NORMAL HOUSEHOLD AS MAINS OUTLET IN
CORRECT VOLTAGE AND THE MAINS SOCKET.
-THE BATTERIES WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY DISCONNECTED.
SWITCHING ON THE UNIT
Press the STANDBY/FUNC. button on the front cabinet to turn on unit.
Note: If you don’t use the unit for a long time, disconnect the AC power cord from the household
wall outlets.
NOTE: In CD/MP3/USB/AUX/CASSETTE mode, when the unit is not providing the main
function for around 15 minutes, the unit will automatically switch into standby mode. Press the
STANDBY/FUNC. button to turn on the unit again.
Please note that low volume setting in the audio source may be recognized as “no audio signal”,
this will affect the capability of signal detection from the device and can also originate an
automatic switch into standby mode. If this happens please reactivate the audio signal
transmission or increase the volume setting on the audio source player in order to resume
playback.
Electrostatic Discharge hints – The unit may reset or may not reset to normal operation mode
due to electrostatic discharge, just switch it off and reconnect again.

BASS BOOST SYSTEM
The DBBS BUTTON controls the bass of the unit. Bass sound is the lower frequency ranges of
sound. The knob can be pushed to OFF or ON position, When the DBBS is on, the unit boosts
(increases) the sound output of the bass frequencies.
DAB RADIO OPERATION
DAB radio mode receives DAB/DAB+ digital radio and displays information about the station
and programmed/track as broadcast. Press the FUNCTION button until display reads “Welcome
to DAB”.
Scanning for stations
1. To do a full scan, press the STOP/MENU button to enter menu selection, rotate the tuning
control or press the or button to select the “Full scan” option and press the
PLAY/PAUSE/SELECT/SCAN button on the unit. Once a full scan is complete, the radio
returns to play the previously-selected station or first station on the station list.
2. To choose between the scanned station list, press the or button to scroll through the
list of stations and press the PLAY/PAUSE/SELECT/SCAN button to confirm. The Now playing
screen will display the new station details.
3. To remove stations that are listed but unavailable, press the STOP/MENU button to enter
menu selection, rotate the tuning control or press the or button to select the “Prune”
option and press the PLAY/PAUSE/SELECT/SCAN button to enter, press the or
button to choose YES or NO option, then press the PLAY/PAUSE/SELECT/SCAN button to
confirm. This removes all invalid stations, indicated in the station list with a “?” in front of the
station name.
Preset stations
To store a station in a preset memory, tune to the station that you want to save as a preset, then
press and hold the MEM./P-MODE button on the unit until the display shows “Preset Store”.
Rotate the tuning control or press the or button to choose a preset memory position (for
example, “Preset 1”), then press the PLAY/PAUSE/SELECT/SCAN button to confirm. Repeat
this operation to save up to 30 preset stations.
Manual tune
To do a manual tune, press the STOP/MENU button to enter menu selection, rotate the tuning
control or press the or button to select the “Manual tune” option and press the
PLAY/PAUSE/SELECT/SCAN button to confirm. Rotate the tuning control to tune to the
desired stations.
Now playing information
While a station is playing, the screen shows its name and DLS (Dynamic Label Segment)
information broadcast by the station such as program name, track title and contact details. To
view further information, press the FOLD+/+10/INFO/M+ button on the unit each time to show
next set of information, cycling through: DLS text, DL Plus information (this is only displayed if
broadcast by the station), signal strength, program type, ensemble name, channel
number/frequency, signal error rate and bit rate.
Dynamic range compression (DRC)
This function helps to reduce the difference between the loudest and quietest audio being
broadcast. Effectively, this makes quite sounds comparatively louder and loud sounds

comparatively quieter. There are 3 options in this setting, the options available are: DRC
high/low/off. To change the DRC setting, press the STOP/MENU button to enter menu selection,
select the “DRC” option then rotate the tuning control or press the or button to choose a
desired option and press the PLAY/PAUSE/SELECT/SCAN button to confirm.
System
The system setting allows you to select display languages, reset to factory settings and view the
software version.
Language
To select language for display messages from: Deutsch, English, Dansk, Français, Italiano,
Norsk, Suomi, Svenska. Press the STOP/MENU button to enter menu selection, rotate the
tuning control or press the or button to select the “System” option and press the
PLAY/PAUSE/SELECT/SCAN button to enter, select “Language” then rotate the tuning control
or press the or button to choose the desired language to be displayed, then press the
PLAY/PAUSE/SELECT/SCAN button to confirm.
Factory reset
Factory reset can help to clear all user defined settings, replacing them with the original default
values, including the DAB station list and preset stations. Press the STOP/MENU button to
enter menu selection, rotate the tuning control or press the or button to select the
“System” option and press the PLAY/PAUSE/SELECT/SCAN button to enter, select “Factory
reset” then rotate the tuning control or press the or button to choose YES or NO option,
then press the PLAY/PAUSE/SELECT/SCAN button to confirm.
Software version
This displays the current software version. Press the STOP/MENU button to enter menu
selection, rotate the tuning control or press the or button to select the “System” option
and press the PLAY/PAUSE/SELECT/SCAN button to enter, select “SW version” then press
the PLAY/PAUSE/SELECT/SCAN button to view the current software version.
RADIO OPERATION
Listen to FM radio broadcasts. Press the STANDBY/FUNC. button until the display reads FM
and the radio frequency
TUNING TO A RADIO STATION
If you know the station frequency that you want to tune to directly:
• Tune to a station by rotating the TUNING knob. The station frequency is shown on the display.
AUTO PRESET MEMORY/SCAN:To scan for stations within reception range and save
them to preset memory automatically, press and hold the PLAY/PAUSE/SELECT/SCAN button.
After the unit is finished scanning, the unit will automatically tune to preset number 1 (P1).
Press and hold the FOLD+/+10/INFO/M+ button to select the preset stations.
CASSETTE OPERATION
PLAYBACK OF CASSETTE
Be sure to tighten any slack tape in the cassette before use, using either a pencil or a ballpoint
pen, simply insert the pen or pencil into the center of spool and rotate to remove slacks.

Depress the STOP/EJECT button to open the cassette door.
Insert the cassette into the compartment with the open end facing upwards and the full reel on
the left hand side, push the cassette well down and close the door, be sure not to touch the tape
surface, Set the Function switch to “TAPE” position and press the cassette play button. To stop
playback, press the STOP/EJECT button once. To release the cassette, press the
STOP/EJECT button again.
AUTO STOP
When the tape reaches the end during playback or recording, the built-in auto stop system will
release the depressed play, record keys. The auto stop system operates while recording from
the built-in radio or CD player, only the cassette function is brought automatically to stop mode
and the radio or CD player will continue to play.
TYPES OF CASSETTE
Use only good quality cassettes (IEC TYPE 1) for making recordings. May be used to replay
other types of cassette but is unable to make proper recording on these more specialized tapes.
The use of C120 cassettes is NOT recommended in this machine.
PROTECTING RECORDING
Normally, anything recorded on the tape is automatically erased when new recording is made. It
is possible to protect your recording from accidental erasure by removing the tabs found on the
rear of the cassette.
When the cassette is held with the recorded side upper-most and exposed tape facing the front,
the protective tab will be found on the left rear of the cassette.
All pre-recorded cassette are protected in this way to prevent accidental erasure of the
commercial recording. “Protected” cassette will prevent the record button from being operated.
If at any time you attempt to record and find that this button will not depress, never force the
mechanism or it may be damaged. Check that a cassette has been loaded and that tab has not
been removed. Recording on a cassette from which the tabs have been removed can be done
by covering the tab openings with a piece of adhesive tape.
CARE OF CASSETTE MECHANISM
Gently clean the tape head and pinch wheel/capstan assemblies after every 10 hours of using
the unit. A range of cassette care products are available.
The erase head and record/play head and the surface of the pinch roller are delicate and must
not be touched with metal objects such as screwdrivers. You may find it easier to clean the
assembly by pressing the PLAY button to bright head and pinch roller into view. Be sure to
press the STOP button after cleaning the mechanism.
Damage to the pinch wheel can occur if the unit is left in PLAY mode with the power switch off.
Under no circumstances should you attempt to lubricate any part of the machine.

CD OPERATION
Discs for Playback
This system can playback all digital audio CD/MP3/WMA discs, finalized digital audio
CD-Recordable (CD-R) discs and finalized digital audio CD-Rewritable (CD-RW) discs.
LOADING A DISC
1. Select the CD mode with STANDBY/FUNC. Button.The following will appear in the
display “CD mode”.
2. Open the CD door. “OPEN” will be shown on the display.
3. Place an audio CD/MP3 into the tray with the label side facing up.
4. Close the CD door. The total number of tracks will appear on the display after several
seconds and will playback.
5. Press the PLAY/PAUSE/SELECT/SCAN button to pause, the display flashing.
6. To release the pause, press again the PLAY/PAUSE/SELECT/SCAN button.
7. Press STOP/MENU button to stop playback completely.
Note:
!To ensure good system performance; wait until the disc tray completely reads the disc
before proceeding.
!The number of folders and the number of tracks will be shown with CDs in the MP3 format.
!If no disc is loaded into the compartment, or the disc is placed upside down, the display will
show “NO DISC”.
REPEAT PLAY
You can play one track or all tracks on the disc repeatedly.
To Repeat a Single Track
1. Press the MEM./P-MODE button once in play, "REP-1" shows on the display. The current
track will be played over and over again till you press the STOP/MENU button.
2. To cancel repeat play, press MEM./P-MODE button until "REP-1" disappears from display.
To repeat all the Tracks
1. Press the MEM./P-MODE button once in play, "REP-ALL" shows on the display. All songs
will be played over and over again till you press the STOP/MENU button.
2. To cancel repeat play, press MEM./P-MODE button until "REP-ALL" disappears from
display.
To repeat the Folder (only for MP3 disc which contains more than one folder)
1. Press the MEM./P-MODE button once in play, "REP-ALBUM" shows on the display. The
current folder will be played over and over again till you press the STOP/MENU button.
2. To cancel repeat play, press MEM./P-MODE button until "REP-ALBUM" disappears from
display.
RANDOM PLAY
1. Press the MEM./P-MODE button once in play, "RANDOM" shows on the display. The unit
will stop to search a track (song) randomly and start playback from this track, then select
another in random order until all tracks are played over and then stop.
2. To cancel repeat play, press MEM./P-MODE button until "RANDOM" disappears from
display.

INTRO PLAY
1. Press the MEM./P-MODE button once in play, "INTRO" shows on the display. Each track
is played for 10seconds respectively.
2. To cancel repeat play, press MEM./P-MODE button until "INTRO" disappears from
display.
PROGRAM TRACKS
Programming tracks of disc are possible when playback is stopped. Up to CD 20 tracks /MP3 99
tracks can be stored in the memory in any order.
1. In stop mode, press the MEM./P-MODE button, the MEMORY and P01 will show on the
display.
2. Press the CD SKIP/SEARCH FORWARD button to select the first desired track to be
programmed.
3. Press the MEM./P-MODE button to enter. The display changes to show P02.
4. Repeat steps 2 & 3 to store other desired tracks until all tracks are programmed.
5. Press the PLAY/PAUSE/SELECT/SCAN button to start playback from the first programmed
track.
6. Press the STOP/MENU button to stop program playback.
To Erase the Memory (Program)
To clear the program, you have two options:
1. Press STOP/MENU button in stop mode, or
2. Open the CD compartment lid, program will be erased.
USB OPERATION
1. Press STANDBY/FUNC. button, USB mode shown on the display.
2. Connect the USB to the USB INPUT. The unit will display total number of tracks stored inside
the USB, the playback stars from track 1 automatically after reading the USB.
3. Press the PLAY/PAUSE/SELECT/SCAN button to temporarily stop. The track number will
flash.
1. Press the STOP/MENU button to stop playing. The display will show total number of tracks.
2. Proceed repeat play (repeat 1/repeat all/repeat folder)/program play/random play/skip up
and down operation as the same described in above “CD OPERATION”.
CAUTION:
!Do not use any USB extension cable for connecting the USB stick which may cause harmful
interference
!In case of malfunction due to electrostatic discharge, just reset the product (reconnect of
power source may be required) to resume normal operation.
AUX-IN OPERATION
This unit has provided special AUX-IN jack, through this jack other audio sources can be
connected to this unit and be amplified.
1. Press STANDBY/FUNC. button, AUX mode shown on the display.
2. Connect the audio cable into the AUX-IN jack and the other end connect to the AUDIO OUT
jack of the external audio source. The unit will change to AUX mode automatically.
3. Adjust the volume of the main unit to your desired level.
4. Press PLAY of the external audio source (eg. MP3 player) to start playback.
