Old devices must not be disposed of
with household waste!
If the device is no longer operational, every
consumer is required by law to dispose
of old devices separately from household
waste, e.g. at a collection point run by the
communal authority/borough. This ensures
that old devices are recycled in a profes-
sional manner and also rules out negative
consequences for the environment.
For this reason, electrical equipment is
marked with the following symbol.
Batteries and rechargeable batteries do not
belong in the household garbage!
Every consumer is required by law to bring
all batteries and rechargeable batteries, re-
gardless whether they contain harmful sub-

Setup and connection
Location tips
• Select a stable, level base.
• Make sure that the environment is clean and free
from dust.
• Select a location away from heat sources and direct
sunlight.
• Do not place any heavy objects on the DecoderSta-
tion 6 or on the cables.
The receiver for the remote control signals is located
at the front of the device. You should therefore set
up the device so that you can see it from your sitting
position.
WARNING
Risk of injury/damage!
Lay the cables so that they do not pose a tripping
hazard.
FM antenna
WARNING
Risk associated with lightning strike!
If you are using outdoor or roof antennas, be abso-
lutely sure that the antenna has lightning protection.
To receive FM stations, connect the antenna to the
FM jack (6). This may be a roof/outside antenna, but
also a cable television connection. You will need a
coaxial connector cable for this.
If no antenna connection is available at the set-up lo-
cation, you can use the enclosed throw-out aerial 햵.
Push the antenna plug into the FM jack (6) and adjust
the position of the throw-out aerial for best reception.
Then fix the antenna in place.

Inputs for source devices
The DecoderStation 6 offers four HDMI inputs for
digital audio/video signals (HDMI 1, 2, 3 and 4), three
analogue audio inputs (AUX 1, 2 and 3), as well as
two coaxial and two optical digital audio inputs.
HDMI 1, 2, 3 and 4
You can connect a HDMI source device with a digital
video and audio signal to the jacks (16) (e.g. PC, Blu-
ray player or game console). For this, you will need
one HDMI cable per device.
If a device does not emit the audio via HDMI, you can
assign one of the audio inputs of the DecoderStation6
to this device in the “Audio mapping” menu (see page
18).
COAXIAL 1 and 2
You can connect the coaxial digital audio outputs of
two source devices to the COAXIAL jacks (9). You will
need a coaxial cable with RCA plugs for this.
OPTICAL 1 and 2
You can connect the optical digital audio outputs of
two source devices to the OPTICAL jacks (10). You will
need an optical cable with a TOSLINK plug for this.
AUX 1, 2 and 3
You can connect source devices with analogue audio
to the jacks (7) and (8). The jack AUX 1 (7) is a 3.5-
mm jack plug socket for connecting e.g. an MP3
player. The jacks AUX 2 and AUX3 (8) are RCA jacks
for connecting e.g. a CD audio player.
Outputs
TV set
Connect your TV set or your projector to the HDMI TV
jack (15). You will need a HDMI cable for this.
If your TV set does not emit audio via HDMI ARC, you
can assign one of the audio inputs of the DecoderSta-
tion 6 to the TV set in the “Audio Mapping” menu (see
page 18).

Audio outputs
Connect your power amplifier or multi-channel active
subwoofer or active speaker to the RCA jacks (12). To
do this you will need three stereo RCA cables:
FRONT LEFT/RIGHT Front left/right channels
CENTER Mid-channel
SUBWOOFER Subwoofer channel
SURROUND LEFT/RIGHT Rear left/right channels
Subwoofer
You can connect an active subwoofer to the
SUBWOOFER jack (12) with an RCA cable.
If you use an active subwoofer with wireless connec-
tion, activate the connection in the
“System Setup”
menu (see “Radio links” on page 18).
Headphones
You can connect Stereo headphones to the HEAD-
PHONE jack (11) with a 3.5 mm plug.
The outputs to the power amplifiers (12) are auto-
matically deactivated when connecting headphones.
However, they can be reactivated with the button
(22) on the remote control. This makes it possible to
operate the DecoderStation 6 with the speakers, even
when the headphones are inserted (e.g. while using
wireless headphones with the transmitter permanently
connected).
WARNING
Risk of injury/damage!
Lower the volume before you pull out the headphone
plug out again; otherwise, the speakers may emit
unexpected high sound pressure. This could injure
your hearing or damage the device.
Connecting to a power supply
1. Make sure that your active subwoofer and/or the
active speakers are switched off.
2. Connect the small plug of the mains adapter 햴to
the jack (5) “12V”.
3. Connect the mains adapter 햴to a mains socket
(100 V–240 V ~ / 50/60 Hz).

“Surround” menu
Here you switch the surround mode for stereo sources
in the following order:
2.1 Stereo Stereo only via front left/right and
subwoofer
5.1 Stereo Stereo via all channels (upmix)
Dolby PLII Movie Dolby Pro Logic®II for movies
Dolby PLII Music Dolby Pro Logic®II for music
Dolby Digital and DTS
Surround mode is predefined for playback of Dolby
Digital or DTS coded multi-channel audio tracks and
this menu is disabled as a result.
“Tone Control” menu
Tone
Here you can set the sound (high tones and bass
tones). Possible values: from –10 dB (decrease) to
+10 dB (increase).
Mode
• Dynamic Compr.
Dynamic compensation regulates volume differen-
ces between individual tracks on CDs or other
digital audio sources and ensures that playback is
neither too loud nor too quiet. Possible settings: On
or Off.
• Cinema EQ
This function reduces the percentage of high tones
from the original movie sound mix to perfectly
adapt the sound to the typical acoustics of a living
room. Possible setting: On or Off.
Equalizer
With this function, very fine adjustments within nine
frequency ranges are available. Possible values: from
–20 dB (decrease) to +6 dB (increase) each.
The “Reset” menu item resets all frequency ranges for
the selected channel to zero (neutral).
“Speaker Levels” menu
Here, you can set the relative volume within a range
from “–10” (decrease) to “+10” (increase) for each
speaker.
With the “Test Tone”, you can activate and deactivate
pink noise as a neutral test tone and also set the
speaker levels as described above.
We recommend that you use a sound level meter to
optimally adjust the sound level.
“Source Levels” menu
Here, you can set the relative volume within a range
from “–10” (decrease) to “+10” (increase) for each
audio source.
“Audio Mapping” menu
Here, you can set an audio input for each of the four
HDMI inputs and the TV set.
Example: You would like to connect a PC without
HDMI output. With a DVI to HDMI adapter, you trans-
mit the video signal while the audio signal is present
at one of the analogue inputs (AUX) via an RCA cable.
If the HDMI-ARC function is activated for the TV set,
the menu item “TV” will not be available.
“Speaker Setup” menu
Speaker Size
You can set the size of the speakers in use here for
optimal actuation of the speakers. Four configurations
are available:
SSS1 All speakers are small,
subwoofer present.
LSS1 Large front speakers, small center and sur-
round speakers, subwoofer present.
LSS0 Large front speakers, small center and sur-
round speakers, no subwoofer.
LLL1 All speakers are large,
subwoofer present.
The letters represent the speakers: Front left/right,
center, surround left/right. In this context, S stands
for small and L for large speakers. The last number
stands for the subwoofer (1 = present, 0 = not pres-
ent).
In 3.1 mode, a 0 stands for “not present” concerning
surround (3rd position).

19• DecoderStation 6
Crossover
With the crossover frequency, you determine the
upper and lower frequency limits for the operation of
the satellites. Possible values: 80 to 250 Hz in eight
steps.
You can find information on the recommended cross-
over frequency in the technical data of the respective
satellite speakers in our webshop.
Phase Sub
You can hereby switch the phase shift (180°) on and
off for the subwoofer. Select the setting, with which
the subwoofer produces the loudest and clearest
sound.
Lip Sync
Digital image processing in the TV set takes some
time. To keep the video and audio in sync, the TV set
delays the audio by a few milliseconds. Here, you can
adjust the audio delay from 0 to 200 ms for each
HDMI and other inputs in order to keep the sound
synchronous.
Distance
Speakers located at different distances to the listen-
ing position may disturb the surround sound effect.
Here, you can set a slight delay of the signal to com-
pensate these run time differences for all channels.
Measure the distance from the listening position to
the speakers and enter these values in the menu. The
system calculates the required delays on this basis.
“System Setup” menu
HDMI
CEC (Consumer Electronics Control)
This function makes it possible to control devices via
the HDMI connection. The DecoderStation 6 together
with the TV set is switched on and to standby with this
function. With many TV sets, you can also adjust the
volume of the DecoderStation 6 with the TV set's re-
mote control and the DecoderStation 6 will automati-
cally select the input of the respectively active source.
Possible settings: On or Off.
ARC (Audio Return Channel)
In case of a HDMI connection, this channel provides a
return channel for audio data from the TV set (for TV
sets that support this function). Audio from the tele-
vision sets runs to the DecoderStation 6 through the
HDMI cable without having to connect another cable.
Possible settings: On or Off.
• With some TV sets, you have to activate these func-
tions in the menu – please refer to the instruction
manual for your TV set.
• Many TV sets only support the ARC function with
one HDMI input. In most cases, it is labelled with
“ARC”.
• To use ARC you must also activate CEC.
• If the CEC function is activated, standby power
consumption increases.
Audio Passthrough
With this function, you determine whether the picture
and audio from the connections HDMI 1 to 4 are also
looped through to the TV set when the DecoderSta-
tion 6 is in standby. Possible settings: On or Off.
Auto-off
If inactive, the device switches to standby after the
defined period of time. Possible values: 60 min.,
30min. (preset), Never.
Power On Level
Here you can set the volume of your device when it is
activated:
• Last: The volume set when deactivating.
• Custom: You set the volume from -50 dB (low) to 0
dB (very loud).
Wireless
In this menu, you establish the radio link to your Blue-
tooth source device and/or wireless subwoofer. This
process is known as “pairing”.
You can see the current status when selecting the de-
vice (“Bluetooth” or “Wireless Sub”): “Not connected“
or “Connected”.
The pairing of Bluetooth devices is described in the
chapter “Bluetooth Playback” on page 21.

20 • DecoderStation 6
Wireless Sub
To connect a wireless subwoofer with the DecoderSta-
tion 6:
In the “System Setup” menu, select the submenu “Ra-
dio Links” and then the menu item “Wireless Sub”.
On the wireless subwoofer, start the process to estab-
lish a connection (see the corresponding instruction
manual).
Push the • button (35) twice to start the pairing
process.
The connection will be established after a short time
and the status “Connected” is shown; you can now use
the wireless subwoofer with the DecoderStation 6.
3.1/5.1
With this, you switch between 3.1 and 5.1 mode:
3.1 An authentic or surround-coded 5.1 audio
signal is converted to a 3.1 signal (downmix).
Only select this function if there are no sur-
round speakers.
5.1 Output of all five channels including the sur-
round signals.
