12 year warranty for speakers and 2 year war-
ranty for power ampliers and electronics (from
purchase date) on materials and work time, with
the exception of damage caused by incorrect use
or electrical or mechanical overload. An original
copy of our invoice is required as the warranty
document. This warranty is exclusively valid for
speakers, power ampliers and electronics that
have been purchased from Teufel for private
use by end customers. The warranty is not valid
for speakers, power ampliers and electronics
that the end user has purchased from a differ-
ent distributor. The warranty conditions of the
respective manufacturers are valid for third-
party products. If the Teufel product is sold on
privately, the warranty may be transferred to the
purchaser, providing that the original proof of
purchase is also transferred.
You will nd the technical data in the product de-
scription on our homepage at www.teufel.eu
Please contact our service department if you
have any questions, suggestions or if there is
anything you think we could do better.
Teufel guarantees an eight-week right of ex-
change or return with rebate of the purchase
price paid.
The return of individual components of a kit is
only permitted if these components can also be
purchased individually from Lautsprecher Teufel.
When one or individual components are retur-
ned, the price discount that Lautsprecher Teufel
guarantees for all components of a kit as part
of the set price shall no longer be valid. For the
components returned, customers shall therefo-
re be refunded only the difference between the
set price and the purchase price of the individual
components that they are keeping. The economic
outcome for customers is as if they had bought
the remaining components at the individual price
from the outset.
You can nd more information about returns on
the “returns form” that accompanies the delivery
or on line in the support area of our web site www.
teufel.de.
In the event of making a return, please do not
take any action without rst contacting Laut-
sprecher Teufel.
We recommend that you keep the packaging if
you want to use the eight-week right of return
because we can accept the loudspeakers only IN
THEIR ORIGINAL PACKAGING. Empty boxes are not
available.

Teufel Impaq 400
Thank you for selecting the Impaq 400 from
Lautsprecher Teufel. Impaq 400 is a complete
system for playing back sound and lm tracks.
The combined IP 400 DR receiver/player inludes
a 2.1 amplier with an FM/AM radio unit and a DVD
drive that supports all common music standards
on disc including audiophile DVD audio. You can
add other playback appliances via other analogue
and digital inputs and, thanks to the integrated
USB port, even include mobile MP3 media players
and USB data storage devices.
Images from DVDs and video CDs can be played
back via all common connection types includ-
ing HDMI. The integrated Dolby Digital Downmix
Matrix and additional support from bass redirec-
tion logic ensure that media coded for surround
sound – for instance, with 5.1 sound channels
– are reproduced accurately on your 2.1 speaker
system and via the Dolby-compatible headphone
connection.
Impaq 400 is supplied with a specially tuned
speaker set comprising two compact front speak-
ers and a separate, powerful subwoofer. In terms
of sound quality, the system lives up to all the
expectations you could have of a Lautsprecher
Teufel home cinema system.
Before operation, please read these instructions
carefully and store them in a safe place for fu-
ture reference. If you have any further questions,

Teufel Impaq 400
The Impaq 400 can be used in rooms up to about
25 m2 as a full-quality DVD playback set or stereo
system for listening to music.
The satellite speakers are set up to the left and
right – preferably at the same distance to the
listener – using the table stands or xed to the
wall. Ideally, the screen is located between the
two speakers.
Select a set-up height of between 40 centimetres
and 1.60 metres.
If these values have to be outside of the recom-
mended range, you can slightly tilt the satellite
speakers up or down towards the listening area.
The location of the subwoofer is freely selectable
and does not affect the other speakers.
Placing it between the two speakers, close to one
of the two satellites, often proves to be advanta-
geous.
To do this, cut the cable to the required lengths.
Strip the plastic coating from the ends of the
speaker cables (as shown). The speakers and am-
plier have corresponding [+] and [–] terminals.
The [+] line of the speaker cable is marked with
a stripe.
It is important that you observe the correct po-
larity when connecting the satellite speakers: the
plus pole of the speaker to the plus pole of the
amplier and the minus pole of the speaker to the
minus pole of the amplier. Connecting the cables
with the incorrect phases can result in thin sound,
weak bass and reduced stereo characteristics.
Connect the speakers to the correspondingly
marked clamp connections on the rear of the DVD
receiver; i.e. the left front speaker to L and the
right front speaker to R.
Depending on the room’s acoustic qualities, it
may be appropriate to exchange the plus and mi-
nus poles ( when connecting the subwoofer).
Try out the different options to nd out which
sounds better.
Tip
The closer you place the subwoofer to a wall or corner, the
louder you can hear the bass playback.
The two IP 400 F speakers can be xed directly
to a wall using the rear bracket. Before doing so,
ensure that the wall is well-built and is capable of
bearing the load! This bracket is also used to x
the table stands supplied.

Teufel Impaq 400
With the Teufel Impaq 400 system, you can enjoy
music with crystal-clear sound. The Dolby Digital
technology developed by Dolby Laboratories ena-
bles the playback of 5.1 surround sound sources
via a 2.1 amplier/speaker system.
The IP 400 DR supports Dolby Virtual Speaker
technology. This simulates the surround sound
playback provided by ve speakers and the LFE
effect channel in systems using a two-channel
speaker combination. Psychoacoustic room mod-
elling procedures are used to create pseudo-
sound sources that suggest the existence of
speakers in the corresponding room positions.
Dolby Headphone simulates the surround sound
playback provided by five speakers and the LFE
effect channel for a listener using normal head-
phones. As with Dolby Virtual Speaker technology,
psychoacoustic processes are used to create vir-
tual sound sources for a 5.1 sound experience.
The IP 400 DR enables you to playback audio les
from USB storage media. Use the screen to make
your selection.
The IP 400 DR offers three analogue as well as
digital inputs (optical/coaxial) for using other ex-
ternal audio signals.
You can receive AM and FM radio stations using
the built-in tuner. The FM range supports the RDS
function.
You can play back videos in the MPEG-2 format. It
supports both the 4:3 and 16:9 screen formats.
You can view important scenes in slow motion.
You can set a playback order for the tracks on a
CD.
When playing back lms, you can use the on-
screen menu to select from the available lan-
guage options (dialogue, subtitles) and various
camera perspectives on the DVD.
With the Impaq 400 you can view JPEG images on
your television screen.
You can repeat a track or lm by simply pressing
the REPEAT button.
The IP 400 DR can play back discs containing MP3
and WMA les.
The Impaq 400 supports the DVD audio format.
This format was created for playing back music
in the excellent sound quality offered by the DVD
medium.
The HDMI interface transfers all ATSC HDTV
standard formats and up to eight digital audio
channels. The IP 400 DR has an internal scaler.
This high-tech electronic component enables HD-
compatible playback appliances with a resolution
of up to 1080i (projectors, LCD or plasma TVs) to
be addressed via the HDMI or component output
by up-sampling image content to this resolution.
Information
The following disc formats
cannot be played back using the
IP 400 DR player/receiver:
DVD-ROM; DVD-RAM; SACD;
CD-ROM; CDV; CDI; CDGs (audio
playback only, no graphics)
Playback of the following
formats depends on the
recording procedure used:
DVD-R/+R; CD-RW; DVD+RW/-RW
The IP 400 DR may not be able to
play back certain CD-R, CD-RW
and DVD-R discs because they
were created using incompatible
recording procedures.
Copy protection
Many DVDs are equipped with
copy protection. You should
therefore connect the IP 400 DR
directly to your TV and not via
another appliance, e.g. a video
recorder. Connection via a video
recorder may result in distorted
images during the playback of
copy-protected DVDs.
A copy protection mechanism is
used in this product. The techno-
logy is protected by US patents
and is the intellectual property
of the manufacturer. The use of
the copy protection requires the
authorisation of the Macrovision
Corporation and is intended for
restricted use in non-commercial
applications, inasmuch as no
further conditions have been
agreed with the manufacturer.
All reverse engineering or
disassembly of the procedure is
prohibited.

The HDMI (High Denition Multimedia Interface)
interface allows the transfer of digital video and
audio data signals via a single cable.
A DVD player’s HDMI output transmits outstand-
ing quality audio and image information in digital
form to a television with a corresponding HDMI
input.
Connect the IP 400 DR to the television via an
HDMI cable. Now press “HDMI” on the IP 21 RC re-
mote control to select HDMI mode – the receiver’s
display shows the relevant information. The HDMI
connection requires around 10 seconds until it is
ready for operation.
If the HDMI connection is already in place, press
the “HDMI/Format” button on the IP 21 RC re-
mote control. This allows you to set the image
resolution to the required operating type. You
can choose between AUTO, 480P/576P, 720P, 1080i,
1024x768 and 1360x768. Pressing the button once
shows the current resolution; press the button
again to change the HD operating type.
HDCP (High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protec-
tion) is a procedure that protects DVD content
from being copied. The procedure ensures a reli-
able, digital connection between video (PC, DVD,
etc.) and audio sources (TV, projector, etc.). The
content is encrypted at the transmitter in order
to prevent unauthorised copies.
Your television must support HDCP, otherwise
you will only see interference on the screen.
In order to play back JPEG les, press the SETUP
button on the IP 21 RC remote control and select
HD JPEG mode (SETUP ≥ Video ≥ HD JPEG Mode
on).
When this has been completed, you can view your
image data at a high resolution.
The IP 400 DR has an internal scaler. This high-
tech electronic component enables HD-compat-
ible playback appliances with a resolution of up
to 1080i (projectors, LCD or plasma TVs) to be ad-
dressed via the HDMI or component output by up-
sampling image content to this resolution.
