BEFORE FIRST USE
Your digital answering machine was shipped from our factory in good working order. Should
the carton or machine be damaged, wet or have a malfunction in any way please immediately
contact your retailer for replacement or repair.
Carefully unpack your digital answering machine. Ensure that you do not discard any supplied
packaging material until all components of the answering machine have been accounted for.
Carefully wipe the exterior of the machine with a damp cloth to remove any dust that may have
accumulated. Dry with a dry towel. Do not use abrasive cleaners. WARNING Do not immerse
the answering machine in water or any other liquids when cleaning. The answering machine is
now ready for operation.
GENERAL CONDITIONS
This equipment has been designed for general indoor household use only.
The equipment is designed solely for the purpose of recording phone messages and must not be
used in any other capacity.
Always install the equipment on a flat, clean non-slip surface for operation.
Plug the DC power adaptor into a suitable mains outlet corresponding to the supply
requirements of your appliance, 240V∼50Hz.
CLEANING
Always disconnect your equipment from the mains supply and phone lead before cleaning.
Never immerse any part of your equipment or adaptor in water or other liquids.
Wipe the exterior of the equipment with a damp cloth. Dry with a dry towel.
Store your equipment in a dry cupboard if not in use.

INSTALLATION AND USE
BATTERY USE
Please follow these precautions when using batteries in this device (battery not supplied). The
use of battery is recommended as a back up in an event such as a power failure.
Use only 9V6LR61 or compatible battery.
Remove the rear battery cover and install the battery. Repalce tha cover. Be sure to install the
battery correctly as the reversed polarity of the battery may cause damage to the device.
If the device is not to be used for a long period of time, remove the battery to prevent damage
or injury from possible battery leakage.
Do not try to recharge batteries not intended to be recharged; they can overheat and
subsequently rupture.

CONNECTION
This section has been designed to provide a reference guide to help set up your answering
machine.
Unpack and ensure that the following key items have been included (Base Unit, Power
Adaptor, Telephone Line Cord.
Connect one end of the provided telephone line cord into the LINE jack. Plug the other end
into the telephone wall jack. Plug one end of the internnection cord to the PHONE jack and the
other end to the telephone jack.
Insert the small plug on the end of the AC adaptor into the DC 9V power jack located on the
rear of your unit. Use only the Center Positive AC adaptor provided with your unit.
Plug the AC adaptor into a standard AC wall outlet. Once plugged in, the display will count up
from 0 to 5. After a beep, the unit will display " -- "to indicate the unit is on, but not set for
answering messages yet, or “Lo” to indicate the battery is weak, or not installed.
This unit uses digital technology, so a microcassette is not required. Follow the instructions on
the following pages to operate your unit.
During AC power failure, a 9V battery provides battery backup so the unit can maintain the
memory information. However, the unit cannot answer incoming calls without AC power.
OPERATION
RECORDING AN OUTGOING MESSAGE (OGM)
This unit can record two OGM messages: OGM1 is used when you want the caller to hear an
OGM and then leave a message, OGM2 is used when you only want the caller to hear your
OGM but not leave a message. The maximum length of an OGM is 30 seconds. The minimum
length of an OGM is 4 seconds. As you record, the display shows the time passed. If you have
not recorded an OGM1 and/or OGM2, the answering machine cannot be turned on.
RECORDING OGM1 (OUTGOING MESSAGE 1)
OGM1 allows the caller to hear the OGM and then be able to leave a message.
Step#1 Press and hold the OGM1 button for approximately 2 seconds until a long beep is
heard. The display will count down the time left, so begin recording your outgoing message
speaking in a normal tone of voice. Typical Message: “You have reached the ‘Smith’
residence. We are not able to come to the phone right now. If you leave your name, phone
number and a brief message after the beep, we will call you back.”
Step#2 When finished recording, releases the OGM1 button. A short beep will sound and the
newly recorded outgoing message will then play once. Make sure the VOLUME control is at a
desirable level.
To record a new outgoing message, please repeat steps 1 and 2.
NOTES:
If you attempt to record an OGM under 4 seconds long, then the machine will revert back to
the last OGM saved.
The maximum recording time for an OGM is 30 seconds.

RECORDING OGM2 (OUTGOING MESSAGE 2)
OGM2 allows the caller to hear the OGM and NOT be able to leave a message. This is useful
for announcing information about an upcoming event. Be sure to state the caller cannot leave a
message.
Step#1 Press and hold the OGM2 button for approximately 2 seconds until a long beep is
heard. The display will count down the time left, so begin recording your outgoing message
speaking in a normal tone of voice.
Typical Message: “You have reached the ‘Smith’ residence. Please note that our mailbox is full
so do not leave a message. Thank you.”
Step#2 When finished recording release the OGM2 button. A short beep will sound and the
newly recorded outgoing message will then play once. To record a new outgoing message,
please repeat steps 1 and 2.
VERIFYING THE OUTGOING MESSAGE
Press and release the OGM1 or OGM2 button and the selected Outgoing Message will play.
Press the STOP button to stop playback before the end of the outgoing message is reached.
NOTES:
If the unit detects a dial tone, silence or a busy signal, the unit will hang up and not register the
message.
The unit will shut off if a parallel phone is picked up.
When the memory is full, “FU” will appear in the display.
When the battery is low, or not installed, “Lo” will blink in the display.
Press the OGM1 or OGM2 button to hear the respective Outgoing Message.
SETTING THE UNIT TO ANSWERING-RECORD MODE
(Incoming Messages will be recorded).
The Answering-Record mode means when a call is received, the unit will play the OGM1 and
then record a message.
Make sure the OGM1 is recorded. Press the ON/OFF button once and the unit will emit 2 short
beeps and then play OGM1.The message counter will then appear in the display indicating the
unit is in Answering-Record mode.
SETTING THE UNIT TO ANSWERING-ONLY MODE
(No Incoming Messages will be recorded).
The Answering-only mode means when a call is received, the unit will play the OGM2 and
then disconnect.
Make sure the OGM2 is recorded. Press the ON/OFF button once (OGM1 will play and 2 short
beeps will be heard). Press the ON/OFF button again and the unit will emit 3 short beeps and
then play OGM2.
The message counter will then appear and display “Ao” indicating the unit is in Answering-
Only mode.

SETTING THE UNIT TO THE ANSWER-OFF MODE
Press ON/OFF button until “--” appears in the display to set the unit to the Answer-Off mode.
Note: The default setting is ANSER OFF mode.
SETTING THE RINGS BEFORE THE ANSWER
The amount of times the phone rings before picking up can be set to either 2, 3, 4 or Toll-
Saver. Toll saver will answer the call on the fourth ring if no messages have been recorded and
it will answer on the second ring if new messages have been recorded; this feature is useful
when phoning in for your messages. The default setting is Toll-Saver.
Press and hold the RING/ button for 2 seconds; the unit will beep and the present ring
setting will blink. The display will show one of the following:
2 : Unit set to answer after 2 rings
3 : Unit set to answer after 3 rings
4 : Unit set to answer after 4 rings
t : Unit set to toll-saver mode.
Press the Ring/ button and/or CODE/ button to change the ring setting. When the
desired ring setting appears, press the STOP button. To check the current ring setting, press
and release the RING/ button; the current ring status will briefly appear in the display.
RECORDING A PERSONAL MEMO
To record a personal memo, which will be played the next time somebody retrieves the
messages, press and hold the MEMO button for approximately 2 seconds, a beep will sound
and the countdown timer will appear in the display. The recording time of the memo must be
less than 30 seconds and more than 3 seconds. Typical Message: “Hi, it’s ‘John’ here. I won’t
be home for dinner tonight, so will be back later.”
After the message is recorded, release the MEMO button to stop the recording. To hear the
memo, simply play back the messages by pressing the Play/Pause button. The unit will
announce the recorded message number before play back the message that you recorded.
SCREENING YOUR CALLS
Adjust the VOLUME control on the side of your unit to hear the caller and press the
SPKMONI button until “on” appears in the display.
When a call is received, you may listen to the caller leaving an incoming message. If you wish
to speak with the caller, just pick up the handset to talk (the machine will turn off
automatically). Press the SPKMONI button again until “OF” appears in the display to turn the
call screening off.
NOTE: If you pick up the phone immediately before the caller receives the answer message,
the message from the machine will play as you try to speak to the caller. It is advisable to pick
up the phone upon hearing the callers voice which will de-activate the answer message when
speaking.

PLAYING BACK INCOMING MESSAGES (ICMS)
The display’s message counter will blink when the unit has recorded new messages. If the
message counter is not blinking, then that is the number of messages that have been recorded
previously, but not deleted.
To hear messages, proceed as follows:
Make sure the VOLUME control is adjusted as desired.
If any new messages have been recorded, press the Play/Pause button to hear only the new
messages. If no new messages have been recorded, press the Play/Pause button to hear the
previously messages that were not deleted.
After playing the messages, the display’s message counter will show the total messages
received.
NOTE: Messages will automatically be saved. To delete messages, see below.
To repeat a message while you are listening to it, simply press the RING/ button.
Repeatedly press this button to skip back to previous messages. To skip a message while you
are listening to it, press the CODE/ button and the next recorded message will play.
To pause the ICMS, press and release the Play/Pause button, the unit will pause playback and
“PA” will blink in the display. To continue playback, press and release the Play/Pause button
again. To stop playback, press the STOP button and the unit will save the previous messages.
NOTES:
After playing the ICMS, the unit will automatically reset to take new messages.
The maximum recording time for an ICM (InComing Message) is 90 seconds.
IF MEMORY IS FULL
If the memory is full, the unit will change to Answering-Only mode, play OGM2 and not allow
a message to be recorded.
DELETING INCOMING MESSAGES OR PERSONAL MEMOS
To erase a single message while playing it back, press the DELETE button and the unit will
delete the current message and play the next message.
To delete all the messages, press and hold the DELETE button while in the idle mode
(messages not playing). The unit will beep and the message counter will revert back to “00”
REMOTE OPERATION
SECURITY CODE
This unit can be operated from almost any touch-tone phone. The Security Code is preset to 19.
You can operate the unit remotely with this code, but we suggest you set your own new code.
To change this code, follow the instructions below.
Press and hold the CODE/ button for 2 seconds; a beep will sound and the current code
will blink. Press the RING/ button and/or CODE/ button to change the security code.
When the code setting appears, press the STOP button.
To check the current security code setting, press and release the CODE/ button; the current
security code will briefly appear in the display.

NOTES:
If a power failure occurs and there is a dead or no battery, the Access Code will reset to 19.
If you forget the Access Code, unplug the AC adaptor and disconnect the battery and it will
reset to 19.
Be sure to write down your new Access Code and store it in a safe place.
TURNING THE ANSWERING MACHINE ON REMOTELY
(IF YOU FORGET TO TURN ON)
Call the answering machine from a separate line.
If the unit is off, it will answer after 4 rings, the unit will emit a 3 second beep.
Enter your security code within 10 seconds, and then the unit will switch to the Answering-
Record mode. If you do not enter your security code within 10 seconds, the unit will stop and
disconnect.
REMOTELY PLAYING OGM1, OGM2 REMOTELY RECORDING
A NEW OGM
Call the answering machine from a separate line. During the OGM, enter your security code.
Press the “1” pad to play OGM1 or the “2” pad to play OGM2.
Call the answering machine from a separate line. During the OGM, enter your security code.
OGM1: Press the “#” and then the “1” pad and after the long beep, record your new OGM1.
When finished, press the “9” pad and then the new OGM1 will play back. If satisfied, press the

pad to end the call or repeat this step to record a new OGM1 again.
OGM2: Press the “#” and then the “2” pad and after the long beep, record your new OGM2.
When finished, press the “9” pad and then the new OGM2 will play back. If satisfied, press the

REMOTELY PLAYING INCOMING MESSAGES (ICM’S)
Call the answering machine from a separate line. During the OGM, enter your security code.
Press the “5” pad and the unit will playback the messages.
Press the “9” pad to stop playback. After Playback, all messages will still be saved for when
you return home.
To repeat the currently playing message, press the “4” pad. To skip backward to previous
messages, press the “4” pad and then quickly press the “4” pad again.
To skip forward to the next message, press the “6” pad.
REMOTELY RECORDING A MEMO
Call the answering machine from a separate line. During the OGM, enter your security code.
Press the “#” pad and then the “3” pad and after the long beep, record your memo.
Press the “9” pad when finished.

ERASING ONE MESSAGE or ERASING ALL MESSAGES
Call the answering machine from a separate line. During the OGM, enter your security code.
Press the “5” pad to play messages. To remotely erase the currently playing message, press the
“0” pad.
Call the answering machine from a separate line. During the OGM, enter your security code
and press the “5” pad to play messages. To remotely erase all messages, press the “#” pad and
then the “0” pad.
REMOTE ROOM MONITORING
This feature will allow you to call in and monitor the room in which the answering machine is
located.
Call the answering machine from a separate line. During the OGM, enter your security code.
Press the “7” pad and the unit will monitor the situation for 90 seconds, beep and then stop, if
you want to continue monitoring, immediately press the “7” pad again.
To stop monitoring, press the “9” pad.
NOTE: Pressing the
“

pad will stop all operations and release the line.
REMOTELY SETTING THE UNIT TO ANSWERING-ONLY OR
ANSWERING-RECORD MODE
Call the answering machine from a separate line. During the OGM, enter your security code.
Press the “8” pad to cycle through the modes (Answering-Record, Answering-Only and
Answer-off). After pressing the “8” pad, you will hear the respective OGM. If you only hear a
long beep, then the unit is set to the Answer-Off mode.
Press the “9” pad when finished.
END CALL:
