Quick Start Guide

Push To Experience
The Push To Experience Service (PTX) is the ultimate business tool for you to
communicate with your colleagues.
The base PTX service, Push To Talk (PTT), will allow you to hold one-to-one and
one-to-many conversations at the push of the button.
You will be able to set your availability and view your colleagues’ current status.
Manage your PTT contacts and initiate calls to pre-defined or ad-hoc groups.
The BB3G has inbuilt GPS to enable users to be located and it has a dedicated
alert button.
The following guide will enable you to set up and start using PTX on your BB3G.

Getting Started
Ch rging The B ttery
nsert the charger lead carefully with the arrow on the top. The lead only fits one
way. Do NOT use excessive force to insert the lead. You can also charge your
phone by connecting it to the PC using the USB data lead supplied.
f the battery has no charge at all, it may take a few minutes before the charging
indicator appears on the display.
Charging takes 4-5 hours whilst a device is in standby mode.
Setting Up Push To T lk (PTT) For The First Time
PTT will be provisioned remotely by your service administrator or service provider,
however you will need to have your BB3G switched on with an active S M
inserted that has been enabled with the PTT service. Contact your service
administrator or service provider when you are ready to have PTT provisioned.
Using Push To T lk (PTT)
Once you have confirmation that PTT is provisioned go to the main phone menu
to open the P Application.
Alternatively you can access the P Application by pressing the P Button on
the side of the handset.

Select P PTT home screen

There are 3 Menu Screens in the P Application, scroll left and right to view them.
My Status
My Status informs other users of your availability, and can be manually
changed. You can also view the status of other users, the status modes are;

This can be set from any P Screen.
1. Select Menu.
2. Select; 1: My Status, then My Presence and then
set your status from the My Presence menu.
f you want to appear as Offline you will need to sign
out of Push to Talk. This is done from main P Menu by
selecting; 6: Sign Out. You will now appear Offline.

Managing Your Contacts
Adding A New Cont ct
You can add new personal contacts by selecting them from an existing group that
you are part of or searching for them by name. New contacts appear in your
Contacts.
Selecting From An Existing Group
1. Scroll to the Groups Menu and Highlight the group containing the contact
you require.
2. Press Actions to access the Actions Menu and select;
1. View Group Members.
3. You will be presented with all contacts in that group, Highlight the contact
you wish to add to your Contacts.
4. Select Actions and then from the Actions Menu select; 6. Add to Contacts.
5. This contact will now be added to your, Contacts.
Selecting By Se rching For A Cont ct
You can search for contacts that are on the same PTX account as you.
1. Go to the main P Menu and select; 3. Add New Contact.
2. Select; 1. Add by Contact Name.
3. Enter part of or the full name you wish to search for, you will be presented
with all names that match your search criteria that are on the same PTX
account as you.
4. Highlight contact you wish to add to your contacts and select Add.
5. This contact will now be added to your Contacts.

Making a Push to Talk Broadcast
You can make a Push to Talk broadcast to a single contact or groups. Before
making a call you need to understand the Group ypes and the Call Behaviour.
Group Types
When you are set up with PTT your administrator will set you up in one of two
Group ypes,Radio Channels or Broadcast Groups.
Radio Channel – This is a default group that you will always be logged into. You
will broadcast to the whole of this group by pressing the PTT button and hear all
calls broadcast in this group.
Broadcast Group – You will not be in a default group and to broadcast to a group
you must manually select it. Broadcast Groups will take priority over a Radio
Channel and you will be able to interrupt a call on a Radio Channel.

f you join a call then you will remain in this Current Call until there has been no
activity for around 30 seconds. You will then revert back to your default status.
Your Current Call is who you will broadcast to if you press and hold down the P Button.
Bro dc sting To M ny
You can broadcast to your default group, select another group or make an ad-hoc
call to multiple contacts.
Calling Your Default Radio Channel
f you have been set up in a default Radio Channel you can broadcast to this
group by using the P Button.
1. Press and hold down the P Button.
2. Broadcast your message.
3. Release the PTT button to end the broadcast, the recipients can then respond.
Default Radio Channels are set by your administrator.

Broadcast o Another Group
f you have been set up in more than one Group then you can select and
broadcast to these.
1. Go to P Menu and scroll to the Groups Menu.
2. Select Group you wish to
broadcast to and press OK –
a tick will be placed on
this group.
3. Press and hold the P Button
and broadcast your message,
release the button to end.
Broadcast o An Ad-Hoc Group
You can broadcast to an Ad-Hoc Group by selecting contacts from your Contacts
list or by viewing users in one of your Groups.
1. Go to P Menu and scroll to the Groups or the Contacts menu.
2. Select Contacts you wish to
broadcast to and press OK –
a tick will be placed on
these contacts.
3. Press and hold the P Button
and broadcast your message,
release the button to end.
ip: For optimum audio quality hold the BB3G around a foot away from your
mouth when broadcasting a message.

You can select the contact you wish to speak to either from your Contacts menu
or by viewing users in one of your Groups.
1. Go to P Menu and scroll to the Groups or Contacts menu
depending on where your required contact is.
2. Select Contact you wish to broadcast to and press OK – a tick will be placed
on this contact.
3. Press and hold the P Button and broadcast your message, release the
button to end.
Request C llb ck
You can request a Callback to any of your contacts, this is useful if you are unsure
of the recipient’s current location and therefore you do not wish to intrusively
interrupt them.
1. Highlight Contact you wish to request a Callback from and select Actions.
2. From the Actions Menu select; 2. Request Callback,this will send a
Callback request to the recipient.
3. The recipient of the Callback request can directly return the call by pressing
the P Button on their device, there is no need for them to select the
contact individually.

Push To Talk Management Features
Switching Between Loud Spe ker And Phone Spe ker
Switch between the loud speaker and phone speaker by pressing the # key while
PTT is open.
Ch nging The Volume
You can change the volume level using the volume up/down buttons on the side
of the phone.
Viewing Your C ll Logs
You can check what calls have been missed, received, made and any callback
requests on the Call Logs menu.
1. Go to the main P Menu and select; 1. Logs.
2. This will present options to view all calls and callbacks made or received.
3. You can clear all logs be selecting; 6. Clear All Call Logs from this menu.
Bluetooth St tus
f you want to pair a Bluetooth device for use with the BB3G you can access the
Phone’s Bluetooth Manager from the P Application;
1. Go to the main P Menu and select; 2. My Status.
2. From the My Status menu select; 4. Bluetooth Status.
This will take you to the Bluetooth Manager which will allow you to connect
compatible Bluetooth accessories for the BB3G.
Please consult your Bluetooth device manufacturer’s handbook for further
instructions of how to pair devices.

BB3G PTX Accessories
There are a range of accessories that are compatible with the Mobile Tornado
BB3G that have been specifically identified to work with the PTX service.
Bluetooth Remote Control Button
The PTT Bluetooth Remote Control Button allows you to operate your PTT handset
remotely, without needing to touch the PTT button on the device.
By pressing the Bluetooth Remote Control Button it will instigate a call in the
same way as pressing the handset’s PTT button.
Connecting The PTT Bluetooth Remote Control Button
Step 1: Pairing the Bluetooth Remote Control Button to your BB3G
You need to put the Bluetooth Remote Control in Pairing Mode.
1. Switch on the PTT Bluetooth Remote Control Button by holding down the
Multi Button (on the side of the Remote Control Button) for 4-6 seconds.
After a couple of seconds the LED will flash RED 5 times, keeping holding it
down until the LED rapidly flashes RED continuously, it is now in Pairing Mode.
Now switch on Bluetooth on your BB3G via the Bluetooth Manager.
2. From the Bluetooth Manager menu select; 3. New Device, this will search
for new devices to connect with.
3. You will be presented with all devices that have been found, select SHP 612,
this is the Bluetooth Remote Control Button.
4. To connect you will be asked to enter a Passcode. Enter: 3333.
5. The Passcode will be verified and your BB3G will be connected to the
Bluetooth Remote Control Button.
Now set the Bluetooth Remote Control Button as an authorized device so that it
will automatically connect to the BB3G when they are switched on and in range.
6. Go to the Bluetooth Manager menu.
7. Select; 2. My Devices and then highlight SHP612 and press Options.

8. Select; 1. Authorize Device, this will now be set as an authorized device and
the BB3G and Bluetooth Remote Control Button will be automatically paired.
You now need to enable the Bluetooth Remote Control Button to operate with PTT.
Step 2: Enabling the Bluetooth Remote Control Button with P
To pair the Bluetooth Remote Control Button with the PTT service on your BB3G
open the P Application and go to the P Menu;
1. Select; 5. Settings and then 1. Connect B Button.
2. Restart the P Application for changes to take effec.
When you re-start the service a Green Icon will appear at the bottom of the screen
to indicate it is connected and ready to use for PTT.
Using The PTT Bluetooth Remote Control Button

1. Press and hold down the Bluetooth Remote Control Button to open your
Current Call, you will hear a single low pitched beep for it to open the Call.
2. When you hear a higher pitched double beep you can broadcast your message
into your audio device, either the BB3G or a separate accessory.
3. End broadcast by releasing the button.
Spe king To Other Cont cts
f you wish to speak to an individual contact or a different group then you will need
to manually select it through your PTT client on your BB3G.
Responding To A PTT Bro dc st
With the Bluetooth Remote Control Button connected all audio will come through
the speaker of your audio device and to respond to an incoming call simply press
the Bluetooth Remote Control Button. You will broadcast to the individual or group
instigating the call.
Once the call has ended you will be reverted back to your default call status after
about 30 seconds.

Vigilite Call-All
The Vigilite Call-All speaker-microphone is the perfect PTT accessory for people that
work in noisy or outdoor environments. t has a wireless Bluetooth interface that
enables the user to communicate whilst keeping their mobile phone in a safe place.
Pairing he Vigilite Call-All o Your BB3G
You need to put the Vigilite Call-All in Pairing Mode.
1. Switch on your Vigilite device by holding down the Answer Button on the
front of the device, the LED will flash Green and then continuously flash
Blue and Red, this is now in Pairing Mode.
2. Switch on Bluetooth on your BB3G via the Bluetooth Manager.
3. From the Bluetooth Manager menu select; 3. New Device, this will search
for new devices to connect with.
4. You will be presented with all devices that have been found, select Vigilite
Call-All.
5. t may take a couple of minutes to find the device, if this is the case ensure
the Vigilite remains in Pairing Mode and that you select the Refresh option
in the search menu.
6. To connect you will be asked to enter a Passcode. Enter: 0000.
7. The Passcode will be verified and your BB3G will be connected to the Vigilite
Call-All.
You now need to set up the Vigilite Call-All as an authorized device so that it will
automatically connect to the BB3G when switched on and in range.
1. Go to the Bluetooth Manager menu.
2. Select; 2. My Devices and then highlight Vigilite Call-All and press Options.
3. Select; 1. Authorize Device, this will now be set as an authorized device and
the BB3G and Vigilite Call-All will be automatically paired.
Your BB3G is now set up with the Vigilite and you can start communicating
through your Vigilite device.

Using The Vigilite C ll-All

1. Press and hold down the P Button on the side of the Vigilite to open your
Current Call.
2. Speak into the Vigilite once you hear a beep.
3. End broadcast by releasing the P Button.
Note: To initialise a call there will be a short delay to open the channel and then
once the call is active any delay will be minimised.

f you wish to speak to an individual contact or a different group then you will need
to manually select it through your PTT client on your handset.

With the Vigilite connected all audio will come through the Vigilite loud speaker. To
respond to an incoming call simply press the P Button on the Vigilite. You will
broadcast to the individual or the group instigating the call.
Once the call has ended you will be reverted back to your default call status.
Additional PTX Services
PTX and the BB3G offers more to business users than Push To Talk.
t can be used as a lone-worker solution with the dedicated alert button and in-built
GPS functionality.
Speak to your P X Service Provider for full details of all P X services that are
available.
