SPEAKER CONNECTIONS
SE-408N POWERED MIXING AMPLFIFIER - 4 -
BEFORE CONNECTION
Connect all inputs and outputs before turning power on. This device is capable of very high audio output levels. Making
connections with power up can cause loudspeaker damage.
This is a full stereo system, be sure left and right inputs on stereo inputs are connected accordingly for proper stereo
reproduction and accurate panning of signal.
Be certain that all connectors are clean and firmly connected. Loose or dirty connections generate excessive noise and
distortion and may generate popping noise that can damage loudspeakers.
<HOW TO CONNECT SPEAKER WIRING>
Strip each wire back evenly, about 3/8-inch for connection. The amount of exposed
wire must be minimal because significant power levels are present.
Each channel will accept one 4-
ohm speaker or two 8-ohm
speakers.
Additional speakers could cause
thermal protective shut down of
the amplifiers.

FRONT PANEL CONTROLS
SE-408N POWERED MIXING AMPLFIFIER - 5 -
<MIC CHANNELS> CH1~CH6
1. HIGH: Shelving type tone control adjusts channel frequencies above 10KHz ±15dB.
2. MID: Peaking type tone control adjusts channel frequencies centered around 1KHz ±15dB.
3. LOW: Shelving type tone control adjusts channel frequencies below 60KHz ±15dB.
4. EFF: Sends channel signal to on-board digital reverb effect and external effects patch for use of
external effect device.
5. MON: Monitor volume control for mixing monitor output to patch panel for feed to external
monitor amplifier.
6. PAN: This control positions the channel signal from left to right for stereo imaging.
7. VOL: Channel volume control mix to master.
8. PEAK LED: Illuminates with excessive input signal level. Excessive signal results in significant
audible distortion.
9. GAIN ATTENUATION SWITCH(-20dB): "In", when peak LED flashes, reduces input level
which reduces the distortion that results from excessive input level.
10. MIC INPUT JACK: 1/4" unbalanced
11. XLR BALANCED LO-Z MIC INPUT JACK (Pin-1,
gnd; Pin-2, high; Pin-3, low)
<STEREO CHANNELS> CH7/8~CH9/10
12. HIGH: Shelving type tone control adjusts channel
frequencies above 10KHz +15dB.
13. MID: Peaking type tone control adjusts channel
frequencies centered at 1KHz +15dB.
14. LOW: Shelving type tone control adjusts channel
frequencies below 60KHz +15dB.
15. MON: Monitor mix level adjustments to adjust
volume of individual input to monitor master output.
16. BAL: Balancing left & right volume control of stereo
channel.
17. VOL: Channel volume control mix to master.
18. PEAK LED: Illuminates with excessive input signal
level. Excessive signal results in significant audible
distortion.
19. SSS (Spectral Surround Sound): When selected this
switch routes stereo signals through a proprietary
digital spectral surround sound processor for
enhanced surround stereo presence. This is not part
of the effects processor system.
20. 1/4" STEREO INPUT JACK: -10dB (300mV)music
source.
21. RCA-TYPE STEREO INPUT JACK : Stereo input jack for music source of -
20dB.
<ECHO CHANNELS>
22. DLY: Echo time delay control.
23. RPT: Repeat echo control.
24. HIGH: High tone control of effect.
25. LOW: Low tone control of effect.
26. MON: Effect to monitor mix volume control.
27. VOL: Channel volume control of effects mix to master.
28. SELECTOR: Selects between stereo or mono.
29. EFF/RTN: External echo return volume control. This controls effects return
volume when external device is used.

FRONT PANEL CONTROLS
SE-408N POWERED MIXING AMPLFIFIER - 6 -
<MASTER CHANNELS>
30. LEVEL LED: Displays output levels of L-ch, R-ch and Monitor. Reduce appropriate
master volume control if system is operating in red zone. Excessive output levels result
in excessive distortion and risk of loudspeaker damage
31. POWER: Power on/off switch.
32. PHANTOM POWER: Connects +48V equally to pins 2 and 3 of each mic input XLR
connector to provide power to condenser microphones, where applicable. Yellow LED
indicates when phantom power is on. Condenser mics and dynamic mics may normally be
used at the same time without damage but to avoid possible problems, switch phantom
power on only when condenser microphones are being used.
33. PHANTOM POWER ON: When illuminated.
34. PROTECTION: Protection circuit indicator. LED lights when unit has shut down to
protect itself
from damage as a
result of
overheating
which is
generally caused
by output short
or DC voltage.
Be certain to
correct the
problem before
turning system
back on or
damage may
result. Check
ventilation,
speaker wiring
and speaker load.
Speaker load
should not be be
less than 4 ohms,
loads less than 2
ohms will cause
the protection
circuit to operate.
35.EXTERNALEFFECT RETURN- VOLUME
CONTROL.
36. STEREO 7-BAND GRAPHIC EQUALIZER:
Adjusts tonal quality of amplifier output.
37. MASTER-VOLUME: Stereo output volume
control.
38. MASTER-MONITOR: Volume control for send
to external monitor amplifier.
39. TAPE-VOLUME: Input level of tape/CD input
connection on rear panel.
40. TAPE-MONITOR: Adjusts level from tape/CD
in on back panel to monitor mix for playback of
Tape/CD signal to monitors for sing-along with
music source monitor.

REAR PANEL CONTROLS
SE-408N POWERED MIXING AMPLFIFIER - 7 -
1. EFFECT SEND/RETURN: 1/4" TRS (Tip-Ring-Sleeve) insert-type connection. Patches (inserts) external effect
(compressor, processor etc) or graphic EQ between mixer and power amplifier sections. See diagram for connection..
2. EXTERNAL ECHO RETURN: Unbalanced 1/4" phone jack, stereo return from external effect device.
3. EXTERNAL ECHO SEND: Unbalanced 1/4 " phone jack sends signal to
external effect device from "EFF" mix. Using this output disconnects the
internal effects.
4. MONITOR OUTPUT: 1/4" phone jack send from "MON" mix to external
monitor amplifier.
5. TAPE RECORD: RCA-Type jacks send pre-master fade output to external
recorder.
6. TAPE PLAY: RCA-Type inputs for signal from
external music source such as cassette player, CD
player, keyboard or drums. If source is a cassette
recorder, output and record in should not be
connected at the same time.
7. LINE OUTPUT: 1/4" phone patch to external
amplifier(s) for additional power.
8. FUSE: Holder with 125V 10A FUSE
9. GROUND: If other devices are not grounded as the
SE unit is, grounds must be connected here. To
avoid ground loop noise and oscillation only ground
devices at this point that are not grounded elsewhere.
10. POWER CORD: Nominal 115 VAC verify that the
curcuit is grounded before use.
11.SPEAKER OUTPUT: Consists of 12 AWG binding-
post/banana type connectors and 1/4" phone jacks.
Connect as indicated above.
