1 Introduction
You have made a good choice by purchasing the
UNICRAFT radial fan.
Read the operating manual thoroughly before commissioning
the machine.
It gives you information about the proper
commissioning, intended use and safe and efficient
operation and maintenance of your radial fan.
The operating manual is part of the radial fan. Always
keep this operating manual in the location where your
radial fan is being operated. All local accident
prevention regulations and general safety instructions
for the operating range of your radial fan must also be
complied with.

Their use is permitted when using the radial fan. Any
further use is not permitted without the written

and regulations, the state of the art as well as our many

explanations and presentations described here in case
of special models, when using additional ordering

eral terms and conditions as well as the delivery
conditions of the manufacturer and the legal regulations
at the time of the conclusion of the contract are
applicablen.
2 Safety
This section provides an overview of all important safety
packages for the protection of the operating personnel
as well as for safe and fault-free operation. Other task
based safety notes are included in the paragraphs of
the individual phases of life.
2.1 Symbol explanation
Safety instructions
The safety notes in these operating instructions are
highlighted by symbols. The safety notes are introduced
by signal words which express the concern of the risk.

Safety
Tips and recommendations
It is necessary to observe the safety notes written in
these operating instructions in order to reduce the risk of
personal injuries and damages to property..
2.2 Personal protective equipment
The personal protective equipment serves to protect
persons against impairments of safety and health while
working. The staff member has to wear personal
protective equipment while performing different tasks
on and with the machine which are indicated in the
individual paragraphs of these instructions.
The personal protective equipment is explained in the
following paragraph:
2.3 General safety instructions
- Keep the working area of the radial fan clean and
well ventilated.
- The radial fan may not be modified in its design and
may not be used for purposes other than those in-
tended by the manufacturer.
- The radial fan must not be operated in rain or in a
damp or wet environment.
- Do not operate the radial fan in hazardous areas,
such as near flammable liquids, gases or dust.
- Please avoid physical contact with grounded parts!
- Please wear tight-fitting work clothes with low tear
resistance!
- Keep children and persons that are not familiar with
the radial fan away from the working environment.
- Do not overload the radial fan! It works better and
safer in the specified performance range.
- Connect the dust extraction system! If devices are
provided for connection to dust extractors, ensure
that they are connected securely and used pro-
perly.
- Immediately eliminate any malfunctions that impair
the safety.
- Never pull on the power cable to disconnect the ra-
dial fan from the mains, only on the mains plug!
- Check the connection cables at regular intervals
and have them repaired by an authorised service
centre if they are damaged.
- Check the extension cable regularly and replace
them if damaged.
- If the device is used outdoors, use a specially mar-
ked extension cable suitable for this purpose.
- Keep the handles dry, clean and free of oil and
grease.
- When the radial fan is not in use, before main-
tenance or when changing accessories, disconnect
the fan from the power supply.
- Before switching on the fan, remove all adjusting
keys and wrenches from the device.
- Secure the fan against unintentional starting! Make
sure that the main switch is in the "OFF" position
when the power plug is inserted into the socket.

Tips and recommendations
This symbol highlights useful tips and
recommendation as well as information for all
efficient and trouble-free operation.
Head protection
The industrial helmet protects the head against
falling objects and bumping against fixed objects.
Protective gloves
The protective gloves are used to protect the hands
from sharp-edged components, as well as from
friction, abrasions or deeper injuries.
Safety boots
The safety shoes protect the feet against bruising,
falling parts and slipping on slippery surfaces.
Protective clothing
Protective clothing is tight-fitting work clothing, with
no protruding parts, with low tear resistance.

- Immediately eliminate any malfunctions that impair
safety.
- Please make sure before using the fan that no parts
of the fan are damaged. Damaged parts must be
replaced immediately to avoid sources of danger.
- Never use the device without installed safety de-
vices. Never remove the safety devices attached to
the device.
- Make sure that the fan is installed in a stable posi-
tion.
2.4 Safety labels on the radial fan
The following safety labels are attached to the radial fan
(Fig. 1), which must be observed and followed:

The safety labels attached to the machine must not be
removed. Damaged or missing safety markings can
lead to incorrect handling, personal injury and damage
to property. They must be replaced immediately.
If the safety labels are not visible and understandable at
first look, the Radial Fan must be taken out of operation
until new safety labels have been applied.
3 Intended Use
The radial fan is used for the extraction of chips, smoke,
gases, grains, wood and plastic particles and the simi-
lar. It is not explosion-proof and is not intended for ope-
ration in rain or in a humid or wet environment or in the
presence of flammable liquids or gases.
Only use the fan with exhaust air duct and and exhaust
air cleaning.
The fan may be operated only by instructed persons.
Proper use also includes compliance with all the infor-
mation in these instructions. Any use beyond the inten-
ded use or any other use is considered misuse.
For structural and technical changes to the radial fan,
the company Stuermer Maschinen GmbH assumes no
liability.
Claims of any kind due to damage caused by improper
use are excluded.
3.1 Misuse
- The device is not designed for operation in explo-
sion-proof environments.
3.2 Residual risks
Even if all safety regulations are observed, the operation
of the fan still involves a residual risk as described
below. All persons working with the Radial Fan must be
aware of these residual risks and follow the instructions
that prevent these residual risks from causing accidents
or damage.
- Improper work on the fan may cause injury to fin-
gers and hands.
- Never reach with the hand in the impeller safety gu-
ard!
- Danger when staying in the exhaust air flow in case
of leakage of the exhaust air duct due to ageing or
damage.

- Only operate the radial fan in the power range given
in the technical specifications.
- Never bypass or override the safety devices.
- Only operate the fan in a technically flawless status.

5 Transport, packaging, storage
5.1 Transport
Check the radial fan after delivery for visible transport
damage. If you discover any damage, immediately re-
port it to the transport company or the dealer.
5.2 Packaging
All packaging materials and packaging aids used are
recyclable and must always be recycled.
Packing components made of cardboard are shredded
for waste paper collection.
The foils are made of polyethylene (PE), the upholstery
parts made of polystyrene (PS). You can hand over
these substances to a recycling center or to the dispo-
sal company responsible for you.
5.3 Storage
Clean the radial fan, oil the bearings and store it in a
frost-free and dry environment. Do not place anything
on the radial fan.
For storage, an ambient temperature of -25°C to +55°C
should be maintained. The ambient temperature can be
up to +70°C for a short period of intermediate storage..

6 Electrical connection
6.1 Connecting the fan
Step 1: Make sure that the radial fan is switched off be-
fore connecting the power cable.
Step 2: Insert the plug into the power outlet and make
sure that the supplied voltage is the same as
the voltage of the device.
6.2 Installation conditions
To provide safe operation and a long service life, the fol-
lowing points must be observed:
- The environment temperature should be between
+5 and +55°C. Furthermore, an environment tem-
perature of +50°C should not be exceeded in con-
tinuous operation.
- The relative humidity must be between 30% and
95%. Operation up to max.
- 1000 m above sea level.
7 Operation
Step 1: Use a hose of sufficient size to connect to the
fan.
Step 2: To ensure proper operation, make sure there is
sufficient air supply.
Step 3: Connect the machine as described in chapter
6.1.
Step 4: Turn the device on and off at the on/off switch. In
normal operation, always use these switches to
switch the device on or off.
Step 5: Disconnect the radial fan from the power supply
at the end of your work. Pull the plug and never
pull the cable to remove the plug from the so-
cket.
ATTENTION!
For the protection of device, we recommend the
operator to supply a fuse with appropriate current
rating, and the total length between fuse and
connection terminal shall not exceed 1.5 m.
ATTENTION!
Make sure that the radial fan is grounded before
connecting it to the power source.
Use protective gloves!
Wear protective clothes!
DANGER!
Danger to life through electric shock!
In case of contact with live components there is a
danger to life.
ATTENTION!
Children must be supervised and must not play with
the appliance!

8 Care, maintenance and repair
8.1 Care by cleaning
Keep the fan always in a clean condition.
Clean all plastic parts and painted surfaces with a soft,
damp cloth and some neutral cleaner.
8.2 Maintenance and servicing / repair
If the fan does not function properly, contact a specialist
dealer or our customer service department. The contact
details can be found in chapter 1.2 Customer service.
All protective and safety devices must be reinstalled im-
mediately after repair and maintenance work has been
completed.
9 Disposal, recycling of used
equipment
In your own interest and in the interest of the environ-
ment, please ensure that all components of the equip-
ment are only disposed of in the designated and appro-
ved ways
9.1 Decommission
Disused equipment must be taken out of service imme-
diately in order to avoid later misuse and endangering
the environment or people.
Step 1: Remove all environmentally hazardous fluids
from the old devices.
Step 2: If necessary, dismantle the devices into mana-
geable and usable components and compo-
nents.
Step 3: The device components and operating materials
must be routed to the appropriate disposal rou-
tes.
9.2 Disposal of electrical equipment
Please note that electrical equipment contains a variety
of recyclable materials and environmentally harmful
components. Contribute to the separation and proper
disposal of these components.
In case of doubt, please contact your municipal waste
disposal. If necessary, the help of a specialist disposal
company should be consulted for processing.
9.3 Disposal via municipal collection points
Disposal of used electrical and electronic equipment
(Applicable in the countries of the European Union and
other European countries with a separate collection sy-
stem for this equipment).
The symbol on the product or its packaging in-
dicates that this product should not be treated
as normal household waste, but should be han-
ded in at a collection point for the recycling of
electrical and electronic equipment. By helping to dis-
pose of this product correctly, you will help protect the
environment and the health of those around you. Env-
ironment and health are endangered by incorrect dispo-
sal. Material recycling helps to reduce the consumption
of raw materials. For more information about recycling
this product, contact your local authority, municipal wa-
ste disposal service or the shop where you purchased
the product.

Before starting cleaning, maintenance and repair
work, switch off the unit and pull out the mains plug!

Never use aggressive cleaning agents for any
cleaning work. This can lead to damage or destruc-
tion of the device.

- Maintenance and repair work may only be carried
out by qualified personnel.
- Only use original spare parts in case of repair.
- After maintenance/repair, all safety devices must
be reattached to the device before it can be put
into operation.

10.1 Spare parts ordering
The spare parts can be obtained from the dealer or di-
rectly from the manufacturer. The contact details are in
chapter 1.2 Customer Service.Specify the following key
data for inquiries or ordering spare parts:
- device type
- item number
- Position number
- Construction year
- amount
- desired shipping method (post, freight, sea, air,
express)
- delivery address
Spare parts orders without above given information can
not be considered. If the shipping method is missing,
shipping will be at the discretion of the supplier. Infor-
mation on the device type, article number and year of
manufacture can be found on the type plate, which is at-
tached to the device.
Example
The motor for the radial fan RV 230 must be ordered.
The motor is identified in the spare parts drawing with
the number 22.
When ordering spare parts, send a copy of the spare
parts drawing with marked component (motor) and mar-
ked position number (22) to the authorised dealer or to
the spare parts department and provide the following in-
formation:

cessary spare parts in case of service.

The use of incorrect or faulty replacement parts may
cause danger to the operator and cause damage
and malfunction.
- Only use original spare parts from the manufacturer
or replacement parts approved by the manufactu-
rer.
- In case of doubt, always contact the manufacturer.

If non-approved spare parts are used, the manu-
facturer's warranty expires.
