We would like to congratulate and thank you for choosing to purchase an appliance in the SpidoCook™
range by Unox; we hope this is just the beginning of a fruitful and long-lasting partnership.
As you are aware, the SpidoCook™ range of grills, are equipped with the SHB system for contact and infra-
red cooking, and ultra-rapid and uniform heating hobs.
The contact grills of the SpidoCook™ by UNOX are available in the manual and digital version with the inno-
vative SpidoTouch control.

Safety regulations for installation and maintenance
•Read this guide carefully before installing or maintaining the appliance, and conserve this guide with
care for any future consultation of users.
•All installation, assembly and non-routine maintenance operations must be performed exclusively by
qualied technicians that are authorised by UNOX, in compliance with the regulations in force in the
user country and with respect to the regulations on systems and work safety.
• Disconnecttheovenfromitselectricalmainssuppliesbeforeinstallationormaintenance
• Checkthatsystemsarecomplianttotheinstallationcountrystandardsandtothespecicationsindicatedon
the appliance rating plate before installing the appliance.
• Interventions,alterationsormodicationsnotexpresslyauthorisedthatdonotcomplywiththeindications
in this manual shall invalidate the guarantee.
• Installationormaintenancethatfailstorespecttheindicationsinthismanualmaycausedamage,injuryor
fatal accidents.

Safety regulations for use
•Read this guide carefully before using the appliance or performing routine maintenance, and con-
serve this guide with care for any future consultation of users.
•Following procedures other than those indicated in this guide to use and clean the appliances is con-
sidered inappropriate and may cause damage, injury or fatal accidents; in addition to invalidating the
guarantee and relieving UNOX of all liability.
• Thisappliancecanbeusedbychildrenagedfrom8yearsandaboveandpersonswithreducedphysical,
sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or
instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazard involved. Children shall
not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervi-
sion.
• Childrenmustbesupervisedtoensuretheydonotplaywiththeappliance.
• Thisappliancecanonlybeusedforcookingfoodinindustrialandprofessionalkitchensuponcompletionof
scheduled training courses; all other uses are not compliant to the scope of use and therefore hazardous.
In particular, the appliance can be used for:
- Cooking food on the grill;
- Grill meat, sh and vegetables;
- Toasts, Sandwiches and Focaccia.

• Iftheappliancedoesnotfunctionorifthereareanyfunctionalorstructuralalterations,disconnecttheelec-
tricity and contact an UNOX authorised customer service agent. Do not attempt to independently repair the
appliance. Request UNOX original spare parts for any repairs necessary.

• Toensurethattheapplianceisinperfectuseandinasafecondition,maintenanceandinspectionsshould
be performed yearly by an authorised customer service agent.
• DonotusethecontactgrillsSpidoCook™ by UNOX to heat pots or pans
• Shouldnotbeplacedontheglassceramicsurfacesaluminumfoilorplasticcontainers.
Do not install the appliance near ammable materials.
• Donotusefoodscontaininghighlyammableingredients(e.g.alcohol-basedfoods).Substanceswithalow
ammability point may burst into ames and therefore constitute a re.
• Iftheapplianceisplacedonasupportstructureonwheels,makesurethatanymovementwillnotdamage-
electrical wiring or any other components.
RISK OF BURNS and INJURY!
• Payhighattentionwhilethecontactgrillisworkingasitgetsveryhot,cancausesevereskinburns.Incaseof
burns immediately cool down the burned part with cold running water and seek medical advice To prevent
accidents and to avoid damaging the appliance, all personnel should be informed as to normal safety proce-
dures and given the necessary training.
RISK OF FIRE!
• Whenusingtheapplianceforthersttime,makesureoverthecookingsurfaceofthecontactgrillSpido-
Cook™ by UNOX there are no instruction manuals, plastic bags or accessories.
• Beforetoturnonthecontactgrillforthersttime,insertthefatcollectiondrawer.Thenyouneedtoclean
the glass ceramic surfaces with a damp cloth and a mild detergent to remove grease industrial protective
which is deposited on the surface during manufacture. Once it dries, turn the power on and let the appliance
run for at least an hour at the maximum temperature. Presence of smoke and odors are considered transient
phenomena due to the degradation of industrial oils in the stainless steel parts. This phenomenon will be no
longer present for successive starting of the appliance.
• Donotplacesourcesofheat(i.e.grills,fryers,etc.),highlyammablesubstancesorfuelsinthevicin-
ityoftheappliance(i.e.gasoline,petrol,bottlesofalcohol,etc...).
• Donotusehighlyammablefoodorliquidswhilecooking(ex.alcohol).

Trasporting and unpacking
People necessary
for installation:
Make sure that the appliance is not in danger of tip-
ping over during transportation. Check the package
on recept for any visible damage. If damage is found,
immediatly contact UNOX and DO NOT install the ap-
pliance.
The packaging materials, given their po-
tential danger, must be kept out of reach
of children and animals, and correctly
disposed of in compliance with local regulations.
UNOX has followed the NON-STOP EffOrTS phi-
losophy for years to increase the environmental com-
patibility of its products to reduce energy consump-
tion and wastes.
UNOX wishes to protect the environment and invites
the consumer to dispose of waste in recycling bins.

Beforeinstallingtheappliance,checkthatthefollowing
packaged components are present and free of damage:
- SpidoCook™ grills
- technical documents(useandinstallationmanual,
“technicalspecications”sheet);
- scraper;
- brass scourer.
Removing the protective lm
Slowly remove the protective lms from the appli-
ance: clean any glue residue with appropriate solvents
without using tools, abrasive detergents or acids that
could ruin the surfaces.
The removed lm, given its potential danger,
must be kept out of reach of children and ani-
mals; and correctly disposed of in compliance
with local regulations.
Getting started
Fat collection drawer positioning
The supplied fat collection drawer to collect the liquid
waste that is deposited on glass ceramic surfaces. The
rounded drainage channel for the liquids, owing all
around the hobs, can easily convey liquids and dirt
into the removable drawer to further facilitate the cle-
aring.Beforetouseforthesttimethegrillinsertthe-
supplied fat collection drawer in the in the front seat
as shown in the ‘image.

Beforeconnectingtheappliancetothemainselectricity,al-
ways compare the power supply data with that of the appli-
ance specied on the rating plate.
The appliance must be positioned so that the power plug is
accessible(forappliancesttedwithSchukoplugs).
The appliance has its power cable already factory mounted
to the terminal board: not undergo any other type of elec-
trical connection and no dimensional modication of the
cable other than extensions, replacing it only with one hav-
ingspecicationsequaltotheoriginalfactorycable(typeof
rubber,cross-section,etc.).
The cable must be replaced by UNOX or by its technical assistance service, and in all cases by a person
with similar qualication in order to avoid possible risks.

For proper electrical connections, the appliance must:
- Bewiredintoanequipotentialsysteminaccordancewithcurrentregulations.Thisconnectionmustbeper-
formed between dierent appliances with the terminal marked with the equipotential symbol . The wire
musthaveamaximumcross-sectionof10mm2(accordingtoIECEN60335-2-42:2003-09standard)andbe
yellow-green.

The copper jumper and the electrical cable must be secured together beneath the screw in its tightening direction; and
the electrical connections must be well secured before connecting the appliance to the mains electricity.
- check for any electrical dispersion between the phases and the ground, and for electrical continuity between
the external casing and the main ground line.
- Check that the power supply voltage does not deviate from the nominal voltage value specied on the ap-

• Setthecookingdurationbyrepeatedlypushing(slowmode)orholdingdown(fastmode)the button
untilthedesiredtimeappearsonthescreen(thevaluehasbeensavedwhentheLED(D1)stopsashing).
• The countdown starts right after having set the duration with a value other than “0”, and the plate will start
to heat until reaching the pre-set temperature of 200°C. To change this value, push the button until the
desiredtemperatureappearsonthescreen(thevaluehasbeensavedwhentheLED(D2)stopsashing).
NOTE: if you press the buttonbeforethedurationLED(D1)hasstoppedashing,theplatewillheatuntil
it reaches a temperature of approximately 200°C.
• To prematurely stop cooking, repeatedly press the button until 00:00 appears on the screen.
• Example:Ifyouwanttocookatatemperatureof220°Cfor5minutesand30seconds.
Turn on the plate with the button (A), hold down the button until 5.30 (5 minutes and 30 seconds) appears on
the screen. After a few seconds, the LED (D1) stops ashing: the cooking time has been saved, the countdown starts
and the plate starts to heat to the pre-set temperature of 200°C.
To increase the temperature, hold down the button until the temperature of 220°C appears on the screen.
After a few seconds, the LED (D2) stops ashing: the cooking temperature has been saved.
When the pilot light (C) turns o, the plate has reached the set temperature (220°C).
Program storage and use
Up to fourprogrammes(P1, P2, P3 andP4) can be saved for subsequent use.
PROGRAM STORAGE
Set the time and temperature parameters as describe previously (example 8 min. / 220°C).
To store the program press and hold the button P1, P2, P3 or P4 (ex. P3) for at least 3 seconds: the conrmation
ofrecordingtakesplacewiththelightonforonesecondoftheLEDlight(D3)andthebuzzer.
E.g.: Programme P3 = the plate will work at 220°C for 8 minutes

USING A PROGRAMME
Tostartoneoffourprogramsfromthestate“STOP”(0-grillOFF)or“INFINITY”(INF-platecontinuouslyon)
push P1, P2, P3 or P4.
Attheendoftheprogramwillberestoredtheinitialstate(STOPoINFINITY).
In case the user start a program the cooking time can be stopped press the key by taking the time to zero
or by pushing the button of the program in use.
Oven-user communication (onlyformodelswithdigitalcontrol)
The digital control panel SpidoTouch used in SpidoCook™ digital grills is designed to alert the user to possi-
ble error messages or failure.
If there is any warning or allarms push the button“P4” to slide them.
Warningmessages:
When a malfunction is detected which allows the appliance to continue operating, abeit in a limited manner,
a WARNING message is displayed. The device continues to run and the WARNING message remains on the
display until any operation button is pressed.

Allarm messages:
When a condition arises which prevents the appliance from operating at all, an ALARM signal is displayed and
the appliance must be switched to its STOP status. The device stops operating and the ALARM message appe-
ars on the oven display until the problem is resolved. If the device is operating when the ALARM status occurs,
itwill shut down and the alert corresponding to the detected problem will be displayed. To resolve a problem
of this type, contact an Authorised Assistance Centre. Once the problem has been resolved, the appliance can
be reactivated by pressing the «START» button.

Maintenance in case of failure:

Routine maintenance
Any routine maintenance procedure must be performed:
- after disconnecting the appliance from the power supplies;
-afterhavingputontheproperpersonalprotectionequipment(i.e.gloves,etc...).
Clean the grill daily to maintain proper levels of hygiene.
When cleaning any component or accessory NEVERuse:
- abrasive or powder detergents;
- aggressiveor corrosivedetergents(i.e.hydrochloric/muriaticorsulphuric acid).Caution!Neverusethese
substances also when cleaning the appliance substructure and oors;

Use only a soft cleaning cloth dampened with a little
soap and water. Rinse and dry completely.
As an alternative, only use detergents recommended
by UNOX; other products may cause damage thereby
invalidating the guarantee. Read the instructions pro-
vided by the detergent producer for their use.
Glass ceramic contact grills:
The glass ceramic contact grills, even if very hot don’t give the feeling of the actual heat, the-
refor, before cleaning them o, make sure they have completely cooled.
Use only a soft cleaning cloth dampened with a little soap and water. Rinse and dry completely.
Donot useacids,solventsand /orammonia (alcohol,benzine,thinner,etc..)thatcouldself-ignitionwhen
thrown on the grill when it is not completely cooled.
For the cleaning of the appliance do not use any tools that might damage the glass ceramic, it is necessary to
use the scraper with rounded edges of the blade that came with the grill.
Use the scraper with caution and make sure the blade contact the plates very good. Do not use the edge of
the scraperas this may cause scratches on the plate that would compromise the overall appearance and cle-
anability.
Substitute the blade of the scraper whenever when it is no longer perfectly sharp.
After using the scraper cover the blade with the special protection and do not leave the scraper unattended
within the reach of children.
Collection of cooking waste:
The cooking residues are channeled through the hole in the gutter directly in the dripping tray under the con-
tact grill. Therefore proceed to empty the tray regularly to prevent internal overows.

Disposal
In pursuit of article (No.). 13 of law 25 July 2005, No. 151“Implementation of the Directives 2002/95/EC,
2002/96/ECand2003/108/EC.
The product must undergo separate collection processes and cannot be disposed of as general waste
when reaching end of life; keep in mind that illegal or incorrect product disposal incurs penalties as
put forth by the current laws in force.
Allappliancesaremadewithrecyclablemetals(stainlesssteel,iron,aluminium,galvanizedsteel,cop-
per,etc..)formorethan90%ofoverallweight:disposaloftheproductattheendofitslifemustbe
performed by electronic and electrical waste recycling centres, or the appliance must be returned to the dealer
when buying a new equivalent product, on a one to one basis.
Render the appliance for disposal useless by removing the power cable and any compartment or cavity closure
latch(wherepresent)toavoidpossibleentrapmentofpersons.
Contact the local waste disposal centre for additional information.
Inactivity
Follow the precautions below during inactivity:
- disconnect the power supplies to the appliance;
- we recommend rubbing a soft cloth lightly doused with mineral oil on all stainless steel surfaces.
At rst reuse:

- restore the power supplies to the appliance;
- inspect the appliance before using it;
- switch on the appliance at minimum temperature for 50 minutes without any food on the grill.

spection on the appliance at least once a year to ensure top working and safety condi-
tions.
