The Upton Tea Imports Electric Tea Kettle is made from
quality materials and electrical components. It is intended for
household use only and, with proper care, it will last for many
years. This 40-oz. (1200ml), 1200W model will bring water to a
boil in five minutes or less and then shut off upon reaching the
boiling point. It has an internal safety switch which shuts the
kettle off if it should boil dry or be turned on accidentally when
dry.
Caution: Should the safety shut-off be triggered by allowing
the kettle to boil dry, unplug the base and allow the kettle to
cool for several minutes before handling. Cool water should
then be added to the kettle through the spout to cool the kettle
completely before the next use.
Additional Safety Precautions
• Do not fill the kettle above the MAX indicator, located
inside the kettle.
• When pouring, avoid contact with any escaping steam.
• Do not use the electric kettle to heat liquids other than
water.
• Do not place the kettle on a stove, open flame or heat
source other than the included base.
• Do not immerse the kettle or its base in water.
• Do not attempt to open or otherwise disassemble the
kettle or its base.
• Do not leave the kettle unattended / Keep out of the
reach of children.

Your Upton Tea Imports Electric Kettle comes with a 1-year
warranty. If your kettle should fail within one year of the
original purchase date, contact our Customer Service
department for replacement, repair or return information.

Please note that the warranty is void if the kettle or the electric
base are immersed in water or placed atop a stove, open
flame, or other heat source.
Using Your Electric Kettle
• Before first use, it is suggested that you fill the kettle to
the MAX mark and bring to a boil. Pour away the water
and repeat this process.
• Remove the kettle from its electric base, which should
be plugged into a grounded AC outlet.
• Open the lid by pressing the lid release and lifting.
• Fill the kettle with water, never going above the MAX
mark.
• Close the lid tightly & return the kettle to its base.
• Depress the switch at the top of the handle.
• The kettle will automatically shut off upon reaching the
boiling point. Note: The lid must be closed for the
automatic shut off feature to work properly.
• Remove the kettle from the base and pour water
through the spout.
*This kettle may be used to heat as little as 10 ounces of
water. However, the most consistent automatic shut off
results will be obtained when the kettle is filled to the
internal MAX mark.

IMPORTANT: Remove kettle from
its electric base before cleaning.
Allow kettle to fully cool before attempting to clean.
Inside: Rinse the inside of the kettle with cool, clean water. A
mild soap may be used, as long as care is taken to thoroughly
rinse the inside of the kettle. The use of harsh or abrasive
cleaners may damage the finish of your kettle. Do not use
bleach products.
Over time, scale build-up may accumulate on the inside of the
kettle. This can be removed by pouring a small amount of
vinegar into the kettle and allowing it to soak overnight. A citric
acid solution, or any commercially-available descaling product
will also work. After descaling, rinse the kettle thoroughly and
discard the first kettle of boiled water to remove any residual
descaling solution.
Outside: The outside of the kettle can be wiped clean with a
soft, damp cloth.
Base: Should the base require cleaning, remember to first
unplug the base from the electrical outlet. Do not attempt to
disassemble or submerge the base in water, but rather wipe it
with a damp cloth. Allow to fully dry before plugging it back into
the outlet.
