HARDWARE ADVISORY NOTICE
Introduction This Hardware Advisory Notice (HAN) applies to the Vanguard 6435 and 6455. A
errite bead is included with every G.SHDSL daughtercard shipped. The errite bead
installation is required only on the Vanguard 6435 and 6455.

This notice explains how to install a errite bead, which ilters out line disturbances,
on audio and power cables. Installation o a bead is required to ensure compliance
with the European Union (EU) EMC Directive 89/336/EEC and compliance with
FCC Part 15, Class A. Failure to install the errite component will result in
non-compliance with the EU EMC Directive and may cause inter erence with other
electrical equipment.
Note
The bead is required on the Vanguard 6435 and 6455.
Be ore installing a errite bead on an audio cable, be sure you have the audio cable
that shipped with your G.SHDSL Daughtercard.

Figure 1 on the ollowing page shows how to install the errite bead on the cable.
Step Action
1Snugly wrap the cable twice completely around the bead (see Figure 1).
2Set the cable into the bead cutouts.
3Ensure 1 to 1-1/2 inches (25 to 38mm) o the cable protrudes rom the
bead (on the end you insert into the G.SHDSL Daughtercard’s rear panel
connector).
4Snap the bead closed. You can re-open and close it to re-set the cable.
5Insert the cable into the appropriate connector on the rear o the
G.SHDSL Daughtercard (with the errite bead closest to the
Daughtercard’s rear panel connector).
