1. Introduction
This kit is designed to allow for easy installation of GAL headers and
operators to the transom and cartop during modernization. It eliminates the
need for additional brackets from outside vendors and has provisions for all
GAL headers and operators.
Note: This kit provides a General mounting solution for GAL components.
Some field modifications may be required.

2. General Installation and Setup
2.1. Preliminary Steps
•Remove the car from service, in compliance with standard safety policies.
•Position the cab so the doors and header are accessible from the hoistway.
•Unhang the cab doors and remove all existing door equipment including
hangers, tracks, header, and operator.
2.2. Header Mounting
The header mounting kit P/N: KIT00-0101N consists of one long “L”
bracket, P/N: KIT00-1001N designed to mount a GAL header to the elevator cab
and the necessary hardware.

KIT00-1001N is designed to be able to mount GAL headers of any
length. 5/16-18 holes are spaced 10” apart for the GAL haeder to be attached.
Slots are cut periodicly down the length of the bracket to allow for it to be cut
down in the field easily if needed.
NOTE: For some installations the bracket does not need to be cut, and/or is
shorter then the length of the header. As long as the bracket can be mounted
to the cab and header to the bracket, this is okay.
1. If necessary, determine the length the bracket needs to be cut-down
to, in order for it to fit on the cab.
oNOTE: The guideline slots are spaced unevenly along the
header. The best mounting configuation may require both
ends of the bracket to be cut.
oALSO: Ensure the header can be mounted according to the
job-specific drilling templates. For most GAL applications this
means the header is mounted starting at daylite (side slide)
or the centerline of the opening (center parting).
2. Locate and cut along the appropriate guidelines.
3. Mount KIT00-1001N to the cab using the 1/4” self drilling screws.
4. Mount the header to the angle using the 5/16-18 bolts from the
header assembly (not included with KIT00-0102N).
o2 other sets of uptapped holes are provided in case the
header needs to be raised above the standard location.

2.3. Operator Support Mounting
The operator supports mounting kit P/N: KIT00-0102N consists of two
identical “L” brackets to support the operator. There are two different
mounting configurations designed to support the back of the operator
regardless of the distance from the top of the car top to the bottom of the
operator.
PLEASE NOTE: Since the Operator Support Mounting Kit is predrilled to
mount the operator, the correct location for the operator MUST be
determined BEFORE the support kit is installed.
2.3.1. Configurations A & B
Configuration A stacks both brackets on top of each other retaining an
“L” shape. If space allows, they can be flipped to form a “Z”.
Configuration B puts the 2 brackets together to form a “C” shape.

2.3.2. Kit Assembly
•Place the one angle P/N: KIT00-1002N so that:
oThe flange with tapped holes is flush to the car top.
oThe tapped holes are in line with the motor base plate slot
(about 2” from the edge of the header)
oThe vertical flange is at least 1 ½” from the vertical motor
base flange.
•Drill and tap (4) 5/16-18 holes to mount the bottom angle to the
cartop.
•Mount the top angle to the bottom angle using (4) 5/16-18 bolts.

oFor Config. A, the top angle will
have the flange with tapped
holes upright and flush with
the upright bottom flange.
oFor Config. B, the top angle will
have the flange with tapped holes
facing downward and flush with
the upright bottom flange.
•The motor is mounted to the top bracket using 5/16-18 hardware.
•The limit box is mounted to the top bracket using ¼-20 hardware
