Installation
These products are supplied with a base sealing gasket and a lid
sealing gasket which provide adequate sealing of the unit to a smooth
surface. These must be used to prevent ingress of moisture into the
housing.
If the unit is to be mounted on a surface which is not smooth, then care
must be taken by the installer to ensure that an alternative and
appropriate method is used to affix the unit and that the sealing is
adequate for the purpose intended. (e.g. silicon sealer.) Inadequate
attention to these sealing areas may cause failure of the unit.
Thesehousings must beattachedto a structureofadequatestrengthfor
the purpose and appropriate fixings must be used, adequate for the
working load of housing and camera, taking into consideration the
type and state of the surface / structure concerned.

Twisted Pair Installations
Note: Use screened cables for RS485 twisted pair cables.
2.1 Individual Twisted Pair Output
If a single twisted pair RS485 telemetry receiver is to be
connected to an individual twisted pair output, then the ap-
propriate link should befitted on the topboard.(For the
location, see Figure xix on page 16) This sets the termina-
tion to ON. See Figure xiv below for a sample Con-
figuration.
Figure xiv Individual Twisted Pair Output
2.2 Twisted Pair and ‘Daisy Chain’ connections
Twisted pair RS485 telemetry receivers may be ‘daisy
chained’ up to a maximum of 32 units from a single
twisted pair RS485 output. When this option is used, it is
imperative that the termination link is set correctly.
(Again, for the location the termination link, see Figure
xix on page 16.) In a chain of Orbiter Gold / Lites, the link
MUST be fitted for termination OFF for all Orbiters in the
chain except the final one.

Chapter 1
Installation
The link MUST be fitted across for temination ON on the
last Orbiter Gold / Lite. Figure xv below shows a system
using two Orbiter Gold / Lites in this way.
2.3 Star Connections
DO NOT connect several twisted pair RS485 telemetry
receivers in a Star Connection to one twisted pair output
using long cables - use the ‘daisy chain’ method detailed
above instead. If separate cables are brought back from the
Orbiter Gold / Lites to the transmitter then the
MAXCOM8ITP must be used to provide individual
RS485 output to the cameras.
MAXCOM8ITP must also be used in systems which have
more than 32 Orbiter Gold / Lites.

IMPORTANT:The above rules concerning the use of
RS485 must be adhered to so that the
telemetry data is not corrupted. Failure to
adhere to these rules will seriously reduce
the performance of the Orbiter Gold / Lite
units

tion of the terminal block and for the wiring details.)
The false ceiling versions of the Orbiter Gold / Lite are
supplied with a 3m cable. (See Figure xviii the table on
page 11 for the wiring details.)
Note: The terminal block is accessed by removing the two
M3 CSK head screws, using an appropriate tool.
