6.2 Procedure before using
Clean up absolutely the surface with a clout.
Put dry wood chips into the furnace.
Open shutters of air supply regulation to the extreme position.
Kindle the prepared wood. To ensure easier kindling, use firm fire-lighter. As a suitable fuel for the use is hard wood, for example, beech or
oak.
With using a paper wipe or a clout, apply several times vegetable oil on the grill plate.
Add fuel into the furnace as necessary and wait till the furnace is warmed during at least 2 hours. Where necessary regulate air supply.
Wait till the fire is spontaneously burnt out up to full extinction and the grill plate is cooled down. Cast iron, which is used, soak hot oil and
after a repeated use will be darkened, and can have even black color.
Now you have prepared the grill to use.
7 Servicing of the grill by user
7.1 Usual use of the grill
In usual use, kindle the fuel about 45 minutes (depending on quantity and type of the used wood) before the planned use of the grill. After expiry
of this time, the grill plate is ready for cooking meals, and its temperature will be about 250°C. The warmest part of the plate is in the central part
more closely to the furnace. Due to non-uniform laying of fuel and possible wind, temperature of the grill plate may differ in its different parts.
Use the warmest part for cooking meat, and use cooler parts for cooking fish, vegetables, cheeses and so on.
As soon as the grill plate starts warming, scrape with a scraper excessive fat and possible impurities in the direction of the furnace and apply
new oil to the place where you are going to prepare meals. Clean the grill plate with a clout or with a paper wiper. Be careful during
manipulation; the used oil has high temperature in this phase. Add oil where necessary during cooking.
Depending on fuel quantity and a need in regulation, you may adjust supply of primary air with a lever under the furnace vessel - see Fig. №. 4
8 Maintenance
8.1 After grilling
The simplest method how to extinguish flame is to wait until it burns out in the vessel of the furnace. Set the draught regulation lever into the
middle position to fully open the holes between the draught regulator and the furnace vessel. Fuel will be step by step burn out, and originating
ash will fall down into the ash-pan.
Don’t use water for quenching.
The furnace and other components are made from high-quality cast iron, which has high heat capacity. Thanks to it the furnace can be hot even
after several hours after using.
8.2 Cleaning of the furnace
After partial cooling-down of the grilling plate, scrape impurities with a spattle and afterwards clean the grill plate with help of a clout or a paper
wiper. After that, apply new oil onto contact surfaces to renew the protective film on the grill plate and to exclude corrosion.
The remnant of ash, which remained in the furnace vessel, scrape from their walls or sweep out to its bottom and drop them down into the ash-
pan in the pedestal. After that, simply take out the ash-pan, make sure that ash is sufficiently cold down and throw it out.
Don’t use water or chemical preparations for cleaning the grill plate. They cause removal of the protective fat film and generation of corrosion. It
can also occur as a result of insufficient treatment of the grill plate or in case of long-term non-using the grill.
In case of corrosion, it can be simply removed by cleaning with a proper material, for example, with wire wool, wire brush, or with abrasive-
coated paper. And consequently treat the surface according to art. 6.2.
