How to use the Visiplex Paddle
How do I turn the paddle on/off?
Once the battery is inserted properly, the pager is always on in a
standby mode until you are paged.
Can I turn the paddle off?
No, the paddle is designed so that it can’t be accidentally turned
off.
After being paged, how long does the paddle vibrate?
The paddle will normally vibrate continuously for about 15
seconds. Note: other modes are available that can vary the nor-
mal operation.
Can I turn off the vibration sooner than the 15 seconds?
Yes—depressing the paddle button will stop the vibration. The
LED will continue to ash for a few minutes to let the hostess
know that this pager had been paged. The hostes can depress
the paddle button for 5 seconds to stop the LED ashing. Also
the hostess can scan the paddle on the side of the VS2001, use
a magnetic wand or put it back in the charging rack to stop the
vobration/ashing. Note: other modes may require a slightly differ-
ent procedure to reset the paddle.
How do I know if the battery is low or needs changing
charging?
The paddle LED will start to glow. If a paddle stops receiv-
ing pages, always change/charge the battery rst before any
other remedies are tried.
How is each paddle identied in the system?
Each paddle has a 3–digit number label on the back. To page a
paddle, simply enter that 3–digit number on the Visiplex paging
encoder and the paddle will be paged.

How To Maintain The Visiplex Paddle
What kind of battery does the paddle use?
It uses 2 types; a) without the charger it uses one 1.5 volt, AA, dis-
posable, alkaline battery that typically lasts for several months, or
b) with the charger unit it uses one 1.2 volt. AA, rechargeable, NiCad
(Nickel Cadmium) battery, supplied with the charger. High
quality batteries will last longer than lesser quality batteries.
How do I change the battery?
The battery compartment is located on the back of the paddle, secured
by one Philips head screw. Remove the battery cover, take out the old
battery and replace it with a new one. Note the position of the “+” and
“–” sign and replace the cover.
What happens if I put a paddle with a disposable battery in the
paddle charger unit?
Nothing, but of course the battery does not charge. Also, the paddle
Low Battery LED light will be lit.
Does it matter which way the paddle is put into the charger unit?
Yes, the paddle’s LED light will be brightly lit if placed in the charger
correctly.
How can I tell if a paddle is fully charged?
After the paddle is charged, it will vibrate and ash momentarily when it
is removed from the charger and the LED charge indicator light will not
be lit.
What happens if water or liquid gets inside the charger unit?
The AC adapter provides protection against circuit overload. Remove
the plug from the wall, empty the liquid out of the charger and wipe all
areas with a clean, damp cloth and let dry. Contact Visiplex if it’s not
functioning properly.
How do I clean the paddle?
Clean with a clean damp cloth or sponge and be careful not to get any
liquid near the button area. Dry thoroughly with a clean cloth as soon
as possible.
