Introduction
Thank you for purchasing this camera. Everything you need to take quality digital photos and
videos is included with your camera.
Vivitar® makes capturing those special moments as easy as possible.
Please read this manual carefully first in order to get the most out of your digital camera.
Note: Your camera needs an SD Memory card (up to 32GB) for normal use.
SD Memory cards are not included and need to be purchased separately.

When powering the camera ON for the first time the camera will take you through the INITIAL
CAMERA SETUP.
Powering the Camera ON
1) Batteries
Make sure the batteries, 3x AAA (1.5V) alkaline batteries, have been inserted properly into
your digital camera.
- Slide and open the battery compartment.
- Make sure the batteries are inserted with the correct polarity, as indicated on the inside of
the battery compartment door.
- Close the battery compartment door.
NOTE:
When the “No Power”is displayed on the LCD, this indicates that your camera has
insufficient battery power and will automatically power off. If you have captured sample
images on the camera‟s memory, you will need to download the sample photos and videos
to your PC. If there is no SD card inserted before it powers off, the photos and videos will not
be saved.
Remove the batteries from the camera when not in use for an extended period.
Do not mix alkaline and non-alkaline batteries.
Some features, such as Flash, will not work if the battery power level is low.
When the battery power is low the battery icon turns red and the camera will
automatically turn off a few seconds later.
Rechargeable batteries not recommended.
The energy status of the power is displayed on LCD as shown below:

2) SD Card
Make sure an SD card has been properly inserted into your camera. (SD card not included.)
To properly insert the SD Card:
Push the SD card into the slot in the direction shown on the camera (see SD icon by the SD
card slot). Push the SD card until you hear a slight clicking sound. This indicates the SD
card has been inserted correctly.
Note:
After the camera is powered on, an SD icon will appear on the LCD display. If you do not
see the SD icon on the display, please check if the card was inserted properly.
Make sure the SD card is not locked (check the lock switch on the side of the SD card). If
the SD cardislocked thiswill preventthe camera fromsaving capturedphotosto the SD card.
3) Power On
Press the POWER button to turn on the camera.

Main Camera Modes
Your camera has different modes for the various camera functions.
You can switch modes by pressing the MODE button on your camera after the camera has been
powered ON.
Photo Capture Mode
Use this mode to capture pictures with your camera.
This is the default mode when the camera is powered ON.
To take a picture, aim your camera as desired and press the Shutter button.
The picture will be automatically saved to your camera‟s memory card.
To access the various menus for the Photo Capture mode, press the MENU button while in
the Photo Capture mode.
Video Capture Mode
Use this mode to capture videos with your digital camera.
After turning on your camera, press the MODE button once to open the Video Capture
mode. To take a video, aim your camera as desired and press the Shutter button to start
the record. Ared record indicator will appear on the LCD screen while record is in progress.
To stop the record, press the Shutter button again. The video will be automatically saved to
your camera‟s memory card.
To access the various menus for the Video Capture mode, press the MENU button while in
the Video Capture mode.
Playback Mode (Photos & Videos)
Use this mode to view and manage the photos and videos on your camera.
After turning on your camera, press the MODE button twice to open the Playback mode for
photos and videos. You can scroll through the photos and videos that you‟ve previously
taken to view, edit or delete them as desired.
To access the various menus for the Playback mode for photos and videos, press the
MENU button while in the Playback mode.

Computer System Requirements
WINDOWS OS
To be able to download photos and videos to your PC using the “Vivitar® Experience™Image
Manager”Software, you will need the following minimum configuration:

Powering the Camera On/Off
Make sure the batteries have been inserted properly into your digital camera. If your camera
comes with a rechargeable lithium battery, make sure it is fully charged before the first use.
Make sure an SD card has been inserted into your camera.
(SD card up to 32GB - SD Card not included)
Please see Initial Camera Setup for more information.
Powering the camera ON
Press the Power button to turn your camera ON.
After powering on, the camera emits a sound and the LED light turns on briefly.
The LCD screen turns on with your camera in Photo Capture mode to start.
Powering the camera OFF
While the camera is on, you can press the Power button again at any point to turn your
camera OFF.
A “Goodbye” screen appears and then the camera will power off completely.

Changing Camera Mode
Your camera has three main modes:
1) Photo Capture Mode - Use this mode to capture photos with your camera.
2) Video Capture Mode - Use this mode to capture videos with your camera.
3) Playback Mode (for photos and videos) - Use this mode to view the photos and videos
you have already taken with your camera.
When the camera is first powered ON, the Photo Capture Mode will be active.
The icons that appear on the LCD screen are the best default settings so that you can begin to
capture and enjoy clear quality photos.
To change the active camera mode, make sure the camera is powered ON and press the MODE
button.
When in Photo Capture Mode, this icon will display on the top-left corner of the LCD display
When in Video Capture Mode, this icon will display on the top-left corner of the LCD display
When in Playback Mode, this icon will display on the top-left corner of the LCD display

Camera Options: Flash, Macro, Zoom
Flash Options
There are several Flash options available on your camera. The options appear on the Photo
Capture Mode LCD screen in sequence.
To change the Flash mode, press the UP Quick Function button until you arrive at your desired
settings.
Important: When using Flash, stand between 8 to 10 feet away from the scene you would like to
capture.
Note: The MACRO mode must be turned OFF when you want to use the Flash.
To change the MACRO setting:
Slide the MACRO switch down to the Mountain icon.
(See the section titled „Macro Menu‟ for more details.)
When MACRO is OFF, the mountain icon appears on the LCD display.
Flash Type
Description
Forced Off (Default)
No Flash
No flash will appear.
Use this when you do not want to activate Flash.
NOTE: A „Turn On Flash‟ message appears when the camera
detects a need for flash. When this message appears, it is
recommended to press the Flash/Up button and select one of the
flash options: Auto Flash, Forced On
A
Auto Flash
When you want the camera to determine if Flash is needed, select
Auto Flash.
The flash will automatically turn on according to the lighting
conditions.
When the LED light stops blinking, the Flash is ready for use.
NOTE: In some cameras, an initial flash appears to test your
lighting conditions. If flash is needed, a second flash will appear
upon taking the photo.

Forced On
The flash is enabled for each photo.
NOTE: If you use this option in a well lit environment, your photo
may be appear too bright/light (overexposed).
Red Eye Reduction
Eliminates the red-eye effect in a photo caused by flash.
Macro Options /
Your camera contains a Macro Switch that allows you to manually enable or disable the Macro
mode on your camera. While using the Macro mode, you can capture images at close range (30
~ 40 cm).
MACRO ON:
To turn the Macro mode ON, slide the Macro Switch on the side of your camera UP to the flower
icon .
When enabled, the Macro mode will allow your camera to focus on an object that is close to
the camera.
The flower icon will appear on the LCD and indicates that the Macro mode is ON.
MACRO OFF:
To turn the Macro mode OFF-
Slide the Macro Switch on the side of the camera DOWN to the mountain icon.
The mountain icon will appear on the LCD display.
When Macro mode is off, images can be captured from 1.5m - ∞(infinity).

NOTE:
The Macro mode must be turned OFF when you want to use the following features of your
camera: Flash.
Digital Zoom Option
You can magnify your subject up to 4 times using the digital zoom while capturing your photos
and recording your videos.
Press the T button to zoom in on the object and press the Wbutton to zoom back
out.

Photo Capture Mode
The Photo Capture mode allows you to capture pictures with your digital camera.
This is the default mode when your camera is first powered on.
Taking a Picture
1) While in Photo Capture mode, use the LCD display on the back of the camera to direct the
camera at the scene you would like to capture.
2) Press the T/Zoom In and W/Zoom Out buttons to zoom in/out if desired.
3) Press the Shutter button to take the picture.
4) The picture will automatically be saved to the camera‟s internal memory or SD memory card.
Note: When the internal memory is full, the LCD screen will display “Memory Full! Insert a SD
Memory Card to Transfer and Take More Photos!”If you attempt to take photos or videos
when the camera‟s internal memory is full, the camera will beep continuously. Please download
the test images to your computer using the Vivitar® Experience™Image Manager software as
described below in the section “Getting Photos and Videos from your Camera to Your
Computer”as soon as possible or insert an SD memory card in order to take more images.

Image Resolution
The Image Resolution allows you to choose the desired size of the images taken by your camera.
Keep in mind that images with a higher resolution will also take up more of your camera‟s
memory.
The default setting is 3M if no SD card is inserted. For higher resolution image changing please
insert a SD memory card first.
1) Press the Menu/OK button.
2) Press the Up/Down button to select the RESOLUTION option.
3) Press the Menu/OK button.
4) Press the Up/Down button to select one of the following resolutions :
(5M) 2592x1944 pixels
(3M) 2048x1536 pixels
(2M) 1920x1080 pixels
(VGA) 640x480 pixels
5) Press the Menu/OK button again to confirm your selection.
6) The corresponding icon will appear on the top of the LCD screen.
Note:
Different image resolutions will affect the photo quality. High resolution photos will be of better
picture quality and therefore will take up more camera memory capacity than lower resolution
photos.
Photo Frequency
The options in the Frequency menu represent the frequency of the electrical current in
fluorescent lighting sources in your locale. If your camera is set to a frequency that does not
match your country‟s electric current, you may see waves on the images taken by your camera.
50Hz –UK, Europe and Australia
60Hz –US, Canada and South America
To set the photo frequency:
1) Press the Menu/OK button.
2) Press the Up/Down button to select the FREQUENCY option.

3) Press the Menu/OK button again.
4) Press the Up/Down button to select either:
50 HZ
60 HZ
5) Press the Menu/OK button to confirm.
Anti-Shake Function
The Anti-Shake feature reduces image distortion that can be caused by movement of the camera
while capturing the image.
To set this function:
1) Press the Menu/OK button.
2) Press the Up/Down button and select the ANTI-SHAKE option.
3) Press the Menu/OK button.
4) Use the Up/Down button to select either:
On: to activate and turn the anti-shake on.
Off: to leave or turn the anti-shake off.
5) Press the Menu/OK button to confirm. The Anti-shake icon appears on the top of the LCD
screen.
Language
You can select your camera‟s language setting by selecting the desired language from the
Language menu.
1) Press the Menu/OK button.
2) Press the Up/Down button and select the LANGUAGE option.
3) Press the Menu/OK button.
4) Use the Up/Down button to select either:
English, French, Portuguese or Spanish
5) Press the Menu/OK button to confirm and save your choice.
The camera menus and interface now appear in the language that you have selected.

Self Timer
The Self Timer menu allows you to set a delay between the time that the camera‟s Shutter button
is pressed and the actual capture of the picture.
This is an optimal feature if you don‟t just want to take the picture but would also like to be in the
picture yourself. Just set the Self Timer delay, press the Shutter button on your camera and
position yourself in front of the camera as desired. It is recommended that you use a tripod or
place the camera on a flat and secure surface when you use the Self-Timer.
1) Press the Down or Self Timer button.
2) The Self-Timer icon now appears instead of the camera icon on the top left corner of the
LCD.
3) Press the Shutter button.
4) The camera begins to emit beeps and a 10 seconds countdown appears on the LCD
accompanied by a flashing red LED light.
5) At the end of the 10 seconds the camera automatically takes the picture.
6) To use the Self Timer again, simply press the Shutter button once more.
7) To exit the Self Timer mode press the Down or Self Timer button.
8) The Self Timer icon on the top left corner of the LCD will disappear and the camera icon will
reappear indicating that the camera is set back to the Camera mode.
Deleting an Image
Delete Last Photo Quickly
In Photo Capture mode, you can quickly delete the last photo you have taken:
1) Press the Right button.
2) A „Delete File‟message will appear on the LCD with a „Yes‟or „No‟option.
The „No‟option is selected by default.
3) Press the Left button to choose the „Yes‟ option (this will be underscored) or press the right
button to move back to the „No‟ option if you decide not to delete.
4) Press the Menu/OK button to confirm.

Video Capture Mode
The Video Capture Mode allows you to capture videos, recorded with audio, using your Vivitar®
digital camera.
When the camera is first powered on, the camera will be in Photo Capture Mode.
Press the MODE button once to access the Video Capture Mode.
Taking a Video
1) Insert a compatible SD Memory card.
2) Power on your camera.
3) Press the MODE button once.
4) While in Video Capture Mode use the LCD display on the back of the camera to direct the
camera at the scene you would like to capture.
5) Press the T/Zoom In and W/Zoom Out buttons to better set the camera display if desired.
6) Press the Shutter button on the top of the camera to START the video capture.
7) A red, blinking icon appears at the top of the LCD indicating that the record is in progress.
The elapsed time appears on the bottom right corner of the LCD.
8) To STOP the video record, press the Shutter button again.
9) The video will automatically be saved to the SD memory card.
Note:
“Insert an SD Memory Card”will appear on the LCD screen as soon as you enter the Video
mode if you have not inserted the SD Memory Card.
You can playback the AVI file by using Quick Time or Windows Media Player once it has been
downloaded to your computer.
Video Resolution
The Video Resolution allows you to choose the desired size of the images taken by your camera.
Keep in mind that images with a larger size will also take up more of your camera‟s memory.
To set the video resolution:
1) Press the Menu/OK button.
