1Alwayscheckaroundandabovethe
vehicle toensurethereissufficient
roomtofullyelevateyourroof.
2 Althoughthedrain onthebatteryby
theroofoperationisverysmallitis
recommended that theraisingand
loweringoftheroofisdoneonly
WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STATION-
ARY, THE ENGINE IS RUNNING
AND A DOOR IS OPEN.
3 Unfastentheovercentrecatchsitu-
atedonthenearsideoftheinterior
roofcutoutandensure that thecatch
willnotinterfere with theroof.
4Unlockandopentheelectricscup-
board just forwardofthewardrobe
ontheoff side.
5 Insidethecupboardisa rockerswitch
clearly markedElevatingRoof,Upand
Down, whentheswitchis depressed in
theuppositiontheroofwillelevateto
its full heightandstop,unlessthe
switchisreleased.
6Whenfullyelevatedtheroofwill
maintainitspositionunlesstheswitch
is operatedinreverse.
7The front endofthemovablesection
oftheroofbedmaynowbefolded
back onitselfandliftedslightlyto
enable ittobeslidforwardtoits
storedpositionoverthevehiclecab.
There shouldnowbestandingroom
over mostoftheuseablevehiclefloor
space.
8Whenloweringtherooftheroofbed
mustbere-locatedinits'beddown'
positionortheroofwillnotfully
close.
9Bydepressingtheroofswitchinthe
downposition,theroofwilllower
itselftothefullydownposition
unless theswitchisreleased.
10Byfasteningtheovercentrecatchthe
roofwillbefirmlysecuredfortravel.
11Shouldtheroofnotfully close, do
notcontinuepressingthedown
button,butfullyelevatetheauto-
roofagainandcheckabovetheroof
beds foranyobstructions.

Travelling BedLayouts
DanburyConversionswere the first
manufacturers of motor caravans to intro-
duceforwardfacing seats in their conver-
sions and their attention tothe comfort
oftheirvehicles for travellingcontinues
to this day.
PreparingtheVehicleforTravel
1 The elevatingroofmustbefullydown
andsecured.
2 The table top should be stowed inits
properplaceoverthevehicle cab.
3 Gas appliancesmust be turned offat
theapplianceandalso at theregulator.
4 All campingequipment and gear must
beproperlystoredandsecured.
5 All cupboardlids and doorsshould be
firmlyclosed.
6 The vehicleMUST be disconnected
from any240 volt,mainelectrical
supply orthe vehiclewill not start as
it is fittedwith a startinhibitordevice.
7When passengers are beingcarried on
the seat directlybehind the front
passenger seat it must beinits fully
back,forwardfacingposition,with all
catchessecured.
YourDanburymotorcaravan has ample
sleepingaccommodation for fouradults
in itstwo large doublebeds. Oneis
situated inthe elevatingroof andthe
other inthe base ofthe vehicle tothe
rear.
RoofBed
Under no circumstancesshould any items
bestored onthe roof bed when the
elevatingroof is closed.

Eating
Master Bed
Themajorityofthemainbedissituated
permanentlyovertheenginecompart-
mentofthevehicle,buttomakeupits
full size therearforwardfacingsetteeis
usedasfollows:
1 Thetwooutsidefalsedoorfrontson
thefaceoftherearsetteemustbe
openedtobeatrightangleswiththe
settee.
2Underthefrontofthebasecushion
isa handlebywhichthebasecushion
mustbeliftedwhilstfirmpressureis
appliedtothetopcentreoftheback
restcushion.Thebaseshouldcome
forwardandthebackrestdropdown
to completethebed.
3Theseatbaseshouldnowbesup-
ported ontheopenfalsedoorsand
fullysecure.
4Removethebackrestbar.
5Nopartofthefrontslidingseatis
usedtomakeupeitherbed.
6Toreturntherearsetteetoitsseat
position, liftthetopedgeofthe
backrestcushionwhilstliftingand
pushingslightlythefrontedgeofthe
basecushion.
7Closefullythefalsedoorfronts
againstthesetteebaseandreplacethe
backrestbar.
Thediningpositionallowsseatingfor
fouraroundthetable,whilestillpermit-
ting access tothecookingfacilities.
1 Theforwardfacingseatdirectly
behindthefrontpassengerseatoper-
atesonrunners.Liftthefrontedgeof
thehingedcrashmatandslidethe
seatfullyforward.
2Releasethecatchesandliftandswivel
thebackrestsothattheseatbecomes
rearwardfacing.
3Thetable'ssingleleg,(apolishedsteel
tube)cannormallybefoundstoredin
therearsetteelockerandmustbe
firmlyfittedintotheretainingbracket
mountedinthevehiclefloor.
4Thetabletopitselfisstowedoverthe
vehiclecabinsidetheelevatingroof.
Thecentrallymountedbossshouldbe
locatedoverthetablelegandthetop
pushedfirmly down.

TheLythamAdventurertwoburner
cookerand grill isa unitwhichhasbeen
usedextensivelyinmotorcaravansover
manyyears,andhasprovedmostreliable.
Operating Instructions
1Thegasbottlestorageforbothcooker
andfridgeisunderthefridgeandtwo
regulatorsattachedtoflexiblehoses
canbefoundinthatlocker.
2Connecttheregulatortagged'cooker'
toa CampingGazbottleandensure
thatitseatsdownfullyandthereare
noindicationsofa gasleak.
3Havingensuredthatallthreecontrol
switchesonthefrontofthecooker
itself areturnedtotheiroffposition
thegasmaybeturnedonatthe
regulator.
4 Each oftheburnersandthe grill may
nowbeignitedasrequired.Therewill
bea strangesmellforthefirstten
minutesorsoofoperationwhilethe
protectivecoatingontheburners
themselvesisburnedoff.
5Ifyou have anyreasontosuspecta
gasleakatanytimeturnthecooker
switchesoff,turntheregulatoroffand
disconnecttheregulatorfromthe
bottle. Thebottleandappliance
should thenbecheckedbya qualified
person.
6Thevehicleshouldneverbedriven
withthecookerinuse,orthegas
supplytothecookerswitchedon.
1The water systeminyourDanburyisa
cold water onlysystemwiththe water
supplycontainedinthreetwogallon
water carriers;givinga totalcapacity
ofsixgallonswiththeabilitytotakea
containertothemain water supply.
2Havingfilledthebottleswithwater,
twoofthemmaybestoredinthe
cupboardunderthesink.Oneof
whichshould have fittedthescrew
capwiththegrommetthroughwhich
thelooseinput water hoseshouldbe
pusheduntilitreachesthebottomof
the water carrier.
3Thefold away, footoperatedpump
levermaybefoldedforwardintothe
vehicle,thoughitwillbenecessaryto
depresstheleverslightlytoclosethe
cupboarddoorsecurely.
4Thetopopeningwashbasinunitis
fittedwitha stainlesssteelsinkand
telescopicfaucetwhichmaybe
pulled up when theunitisopen,but
mustbefullydownbeforethelidis
closed.
5Bysimplydepressingandreleasing
thefootpedal, water willbesupplied
tothesinkviathefaucetbythe
doublestroke,selfprimingpump.
6 Waste water iscarried away viathe
outlethosethroughthefloorofthe
vehicleontheoffside where a buc-
ketmaybeplacedtocollectitfor
disposal.

Thisunitoperatesfrom240voltmains
electrics,12voltvehicleelectricsand
bottledgassupply(CampingGaz).
OperatingfromMains240Volt
1Ensurethatthefridgeisdisconnected
fromthegassupply.
2Thevehiclemustbeconnectedtoa
mainselectricalsupply,viatheslide
coveredsocket,situatedovertherear
offsidewheelarch.(Whenconnected
thevehicleenginewillnotstart.)
3Insidethelockableelectricscupboard,
youwillfinda toggleswitchclearly
markedRefrigerator,240volt,off,
and12volt.Switchtothe240volt
positionandthefridgewillstartto
operate.
Operatingfrom12Volt
1The12voltelectricaloperationofthe
refrigeratorisforuseonlywhenthe
vehicleisinmotionorthemotoris
running. Whenthetoggleswitchinthe
electricscupboardispushedtothe12
voltpositiontherefrigeratorwillstart
tooperate.Itwillnotworkwhenthe
ignitionisswitchedoffnorshouldany
attemptbemadetomakeitdoso.
2Wheneverthevehicleisinmotionthe
fridgemustbedisconnectedfromits
gassupply.

Refrigerator ElectricalEquipment

Neveroperate the fridge ongas when
thevehicle isin motion.
Ensurethat the refrigeratorswitch in
thelockableelectricalcupboard isin
the off position, thuspreventing any
electricaloperation ofthe unit.
Connect the regulator inthe gasbottle
storagecupboardunder the fridge toa
camping gaz bottle,ensuringthat it
seatsdownsecurely and switch onthe
supply.
With as littledelay as possibleoperate
both the flamefailure andthe piezo
ignition buttonsituated onthe left
side ofthe fridgeitself atthe bottom.
Thefridgeshouldignite and start
working.
Ifthe refrigeratorshouldfail to ignite
on the firstattempt,continuedepres-
sing the failuredevice fora few
secondsbeforeoperating the ignition
switchagain.
Nevermove or drive the vehicle when
thefridge is running onor connected
to the gassupply.
Though the refrigerator is correctly
ventilated and flued, itis recom-
mendedthat a vehiclewindow is
partially opened when the fridge is
being runon gas.
Alwayspark the vehicle as evenly as
possible to enable the refrigerator to
workmosteffectively.

240 VoltMains Inlet Socket
Themainsinletsocket and plug are quite
simply a means to transfer the electrical
fittings within the vehicle toa steady,
constant and reliablesource of power. A
lead maybe made upso that any power
source canbe pluggedinto the vehicle
providing it operates on 240volts.

Charge andDistributionUnit 2
Battery Condition Indicator Fluorescent Lights
Thisremarkableunit is situated inthe
face ofthe electricalcupboard andisthe
centre forall circuitrywithin the caravan
side of thevehicle.
1ChargeUnit
When the vehicle is pluggedinto the
mainssupplythisunit canbe used to
trickle charge the batterywithout
doing anythingotherthanoperate the
switchesmarkedmains, and charging
car.
WHEN the vehicle isnot connected to
themains or themains is switched off,
byswitching the12 voltswitch to
onpositionone or other of thebattery
condition lightswillilluminateshow-
ing eithernormal orlow battery condi-
tion. Iflowis shown we recommend
that the battery is re-chargedimmedi-
ately.
3MainPurposes
Thisunitcontains a versatiledual
purposesystem.Firstly it gives a'safe
distribution point forallthelow
voltageelectricalappliances and
secondly, it enables youto re-charge
yourbatteryfrom the mains.
You canusethelow voltagecircuits
while the charger is working, oryou
can leave it unattended.Either way,
theunit is fullyprotectedwithfuses
andautomatic cut outswhichprotect
yourelectricalsystemfromoverload.
There are threefluorescentlightswired in
twocircuitsthrough the distributionunit.
Each light hasan individualswitch, but
nonewilllightuntil the switchmarked
1 2 volt is switched onattheC & D unit-.
Beingdualcircuitshould one fuseblow,
therewill still be lightwithwhich to
replace it.
Television Socket
Situated atthe rear ofthetopofthe
electricalcupboard isa televisionsocket
with plug, supplying 12 volts viathe
distribution unit.

Thewiring ofthe caravan in your
Danbury is entirelyseparatefrom the
vehiclecircuits, and failure in oneshould
in noway affect the other.
Thevehicle is fittedwith a startinhibitor
whichwillprevent the enginebeing
started when the240 voltsupply is
connected.

Care andMaintenance
Exterior
Theelevatingroof is constructedfrom
glassreinforcedplasticwhich is similar
in finish tothe bodypaintwork, and
should be washedregularly andmaybe
polished with the rest ofthe vehicle.
Interior
Upholstery
This very durablefabric maybe wiped
cleanwith a damp cloth.
Curtains
Itis recommendedthatcurtains bedry-
cleaned when necessary.
Furnituretopsurfaces
All furniture top surfaces are Warerite
plastic laminate andmaybe cleanedwith
amilddetergent - DONOT SCOUR.
WoodenSurfaces
All woodensurfaces are sprayedwith
Melamine andmaybe wipedcleanwith
adamp cloth, or polishedwithnormal
domesticfurniture polish.
Cooker andSink
Both thesecomponents are stainlesssteel
andshould notbe scoured.
Water bottles
Werecommendthatthese are keptempty
—unless inusefor camping,and when in
use a smallquantity of Milton or similar
fluid maybe added tothe water from
time to time.
ElevatingRoof
Periodically the elevatingroofshould be
raised, the stripedfabricwallswashed
carefullywithmilddetergent,outside and
in. Greaseshould be applied tothe
aluminium tracks atthe frontandrear.
