Quick Installation Guide (Rev. 6)
This document will guide you through installation and operation of
HSUPA/HSDPA/GSM/EDGE Adapter with Modem/Ethernet Input, referenced hereafter as the
Wireless Modem/Ethernet Adapter (WMEA).
The WMEA set includes the following items:
1) WEMA Box
2) External Power Supply with 5V, 3A output.
3) Quad band GSM antenna with SMA male connector.
4) Activated SIM Card installed inside the WMEA Box.
Installation of the WMEA set:
Prior to installation of the WMEA Box make sure the SIM Card is installed inside the WEMA
Box and it is activated for data plan.
1) Connect the Antenna. The SMA connector should be well screwed.
2) Attach the cable to the “Modem Port” (telephone jack) or the "Ethernet Port" of WMEA
Box.
3) Plug the Power Supply Adapter into the WMEA Box and into the 110V Power Outlet.
4) If the WMEA Box is powered properly, the “Power OK” light will appear. Otherwise, the
External Power Supply or the WMEA Box is damaged. Contact the Technical Support to fix
this issue.
5) All lights of the “Signal Level Indicator” should come on as well. If some of them are not
turned on then the “Signal Level indicator” is broken.
6) In a couple seconds the “Modem/Ethernet Ready” light should light steady up. In case it
flashes try to disconnect the cable from the “Modem Port” or “Ethernet Port”. If the
“Modem/Ethernet Ready” light has stopped flashing it means the Terminal Machine has an
issue with the Telephone/Ethernet interface.
7) In 5-10 seconds the “GSM/CDMA Ready” light should stop flashing. In case it continues to
flash for more than 20 seconds it shows that the WMEA Box cannot register in to the
GSM/CDMA network. There are three main reasons for that. The SIM Card is not valid/active
or it was not properly installed. Another reason is the poor contact in the “Antenna”
connector. Also, the GSM/CDMA antenna is mounted in a wrong position, so the GSM/CDMA
signal strength is not enough for communication. To fix this issue check the SIM Card
installation first. The SIM Card is accessible after unscrewing the four screws at the bottom of
the WMEA Box. In addition, pay attention to the “Antenna” connector. It must be tied up
well.
8) After the “GSM/CDMA Ready” light has come on the “GPRS/HSPA Ready” light should
change flashing frequency to one flash in 2-3 seconds. This means the WMEA Box is
registered in to the WDMX Plus Inc. Web Server and is ready to operate. Right after the
registration the WMEA Box measures the GSM/CDMA signal strength and shows it on the
“Signal Level Indicator”. Four levels of the signal strength are:
“+30 – Signal Level” – the GSM/CDMA signal strength is good and enough for stable
connection.
Configuration of a Terminal Machine:
Minimum setup of the Terminal Machine is required.
