I. General Operation

SAFETY REGULATIONS
lBefore startingto usethis machine,read, under
stand and follow allinstructions that are providedin
this manual. Be thoroughly familiarwith the controls
and theproper useof the machine beforestarting
operations.
lThis machine may only be operatedby responsible
persons, whoare familiarwith theoperating in
structions. Never allow childrenor people unfamiliar
with these instructionsto use the lawnmower. Local
regulations canrestrict theage ofthe operator.
lTo prevent injury, be sure that thereare no persons
in the immediate areawhere you are mowing.If any
person entersthis area,stop themachine byrele
asing the drive control bar. Never mow while people,
especially children,or petsare nearby.
lKeep in mind thatthe operatoror useris respo
nsible foraccidents orhazards occurringto other
people ortheir property.
lWhile mowing, always wearsubstantial footwe
ar and long trousers.Do not operate theequipment
when barefootor wearing opensandals.

Thoroughly inspectthe areawhere theequipm
ent isto be used andremove allsuch objectsas
rocks, toys, wire, bones, sticks and any other
items, which canbe thrown by the machine through
the dischargeopening.

Do notpull themower backwards,unless this
is absolutelynecessary.Alwayslook downand
behind you,before andwhile movingbackwards.
Use extremecaution whenreversing orpulling
the lawnmowertowards you.
lBefore operatingthe mower, make sure thatall
protective screens,the grasscatcher andother
protective devicesare properlyinstalled. Never
operate thelawnmower withdefective guards,
or withoutsafety devices,for exampledeflectors
and/or grasscatchers inplace.
lObserve theinstructions ofthe manufacturer,
for properoperation and installation ofaccesso-
ries. Only those accessories that have been
approved bythe manufacturermay beused.
lMake sure that theblade(s) ofthe mower is (are)
not rotating,before crossinggravel drives,wal-
kways orroads.
lStop the engine (motor)and wait until theblade
comes toa completestop, beforeremoving the
grass catcher.
lMowing should only bedone during daylight or
under goodartificial lighting.
lDo not operate themachine whileunder thein
fluence ofalcohol ordrugs.
lNever operatethe mowerin wetgrass, where
feasible.Always besure ofyour footing:Keep a
firm holdon thehandle andwalk; neverrun.
lBefore starting the engine(motor), disengage
all bladeand self-propelling mechanism ordrive
clutch onmowers soequipped.
lIf the mower shouldstart tovibrate abnormally,
stop theengine (motor)and checkimmediately
for thecause. Vibration is generallya warning of
trouble.
lKeep hands and feetaway theenclosure.
lWorn parts should bereferred toour repair shop
to bereplaced. If necessary,contact theservice
specified address.
lBefore using the machine,inspect themachine
by visual to determine whetherthe cutting, fastening
bolts and theentire mower deckworn or damaged.
To avoidan imbalance may be,replace worn out
or damagedcutting attachmentbolts sets.
II. SLOPE OPERATION
lSlopes area majorfactor relatedto slip and fall
accidents, which can result in severe injury. All slopes
require extra caution.If you feel uneasy on a slope,
do not mow it.
DO:
lMow across the face ofslopes: never up and down.
Exercise extreme cautionwhen changing direction
on slopes.

Remove obstacles suchas rocks, treelimbs, etc.
l
Watch for holes, ruts,or bumps. Tall grass can hide
obstacles.
DO NOT:
lDo not trim near drop-offs, ditches or embankments.
The operator could losefooting or balance.
lDo not trim excessivelysteep slopes.
lDo not mowon wet grass.Reduced footing could
cause slipping.
III. CHILDREN
Tragic accidents can occurif the operator is notalert
to the presence of children. Children are often attracted
to the machine and the mowing activity. Never assume
that children will remainwhere you last sawthem.
lKeep children outof the trimmingarea and under
the watchful care ofanother responsible adult.
lBe alert and turn machine off if children enter the area.
lBefore and whilewalking backwards, look behind
and down for smallchildren.
lNever allow children tooperate the machine.
lUse extracare when approaching blindcorners,
shrubs, trees, or other objects that may obscure vision.
lWARNING-petrol is highly flammable.Use extra
care inhandling gasoline andother fuels.
They areflammable andvapors are explosive.
- Store fuel incontainers specially designed for this
purpose; Use only an approved fuelcontainer.
IV. GENERALINSTRUCTIONS FOR
WORKING WITH YOUR LAWNMOWER
- Refueloutdoors onlyand donot smokewhile
refu-eling; Neverrefuel themachine indoors.
- Never store the machine or fuel container near an open
flame, such as a water heater
- Addfuel before startingthe engine. Neverremove
the cap of the fueltank or add petrol whilethe engine
is running or when theengine is hot;Allow the engine
to cool beforerefuelling.
- If petrol is spilled, do not attempt to start the
engine butmove themachine awayfrom thearea
of spillageand avoidcreating anysource ofigni-
tion untilpetrol vaporshave dissipated.
- Replace all fueltanks and container capssecurely;
- Donot smokein theneighbourhood ofthe mower.
lReplace faultysilencers
lClean upany oilor fuel spills.
lDo not startthe engine whenstanding in frontof
the discharge chute.
lDo not put hands or feet near or under rotating parts.
Keep clear of the discharge opening at all times.
lDo not operatethe engine ina confined space
where dangerous carbonmonoxide fumes can
collect;Walk neverrun.
lAlways besure of your footingon slopes.
lDo not change theengine governor settings or
over-speed the engine;
lNever make adjustments or repairswith the engine
(motor) running. Disconnect thesparkplug wire, and
keep the wire away from the plug to prevent accidental
starting.
lCheck regularlythat nutsand bolts,especially
blade attachment bolts, are fastened tightly andkeep
the equipment in a goodcondition.
lNever tamperwith safetydevices. Checktheir
proper operation regularly.
lMake sure that grass,leaves or other debrisdoes
not collect in the mower; check regularlyand remove
such residues to blocking.
lStop and inspect yourlawnmower if you strikeany
object. Repair,if necessary, before restarting.
lNever attempt tomake wheel heightadjustments
while the engine (motor)is running.
lGrass catchercomponents aresubject towear,
damage anddeterioration, whichcould expose
moving partsor allowobjects to be ejected.
Frequently checkthese componentsand, ifne
cessary,replace damaged componentswith parts
recommended bythe manufacturer.
lMower bladesare sharpand can cause injuries.
Wrap theblade(s) or wear gloveswhen handling
them, anduse extracaution duringblade mainte
nance.
lBe especially careful in case you reverse the mower
or goingto usethe machine.
lStop the blade(s) ifthe lawnmower has tobe tilted
for transportation when crossing surfacesother than
grass, and when transportingthe lawnmower to and
from thearea tobe mowed.
lStart theengine orswitch on the motorcarefully
according toinstructions and with feetwell away
from theblades.
lDo not tilt the lawnmowerwhen starting the engine
or switching onthe motor,except if thelawnmower
has to betilted for starting.In this case,do not tile
it morethan absolutelynecessary and lift onlythe
part whichis awayfrom the operator.
lNever pickup orcarry alawnmower whilethe
engine isrunning.
lStop the engine and disconnect thespark plug wire.
- Before clearing blockages or uncloggingchute.
before checking, cleaning or working on the lawnm--
ower.
after striking a foreign object. Inspect the lawnmower-
for damage and makerepairs before re-starting and
operating the lawnmower;
if lawnmower startsto vibrate abnormally(check-
immediately).
lStop the engine:

- whenever you leavethe lawnmower.
before re-fuelling.
lReduce the throttle setting during engine shut down
and, if the engine is provided with a shut-off valve, turn
the fuel off at theconclusion of mowing;
lAllow the engine to cool before storing in anyenclo-
sure
lNever store the equipment with petrol in the tank inside
a building where fumescan reach an openflame or
spark. To reducethe firehazard, keep the engine,l
silencer, battery compartment and petrol storage area
free of grass, leaves, or excessive grease.
lCheck the grass catcher frequently for wearor det-
erioration
lIf thefuel tank has tobe drained,this shouldbe
done outdoors.
