If the seal is not properly in place it can be reseated without difficulty, taking care to press the rigid base fully
and firmly into the door channel.

Fan:
The fan gives more even temperature distribution inside the refrigerator compartment, thus allowing better
conservation of stored food.
Important:
The fan is activated by means of an electronic control. The control automatically activates the fan when it is
necessary.
Do not obstruct the fan intake area (8a) with food.
This appliance is equipped with a system that allows the selection of the freezer
compartment only.

BEFORE USING THE REFRIGERATOR
Your new appliance is a combined fridge-freezer
exclusively for domestic use.
The freezer comp rtment can be used
for freezing fresh and coo ed food, ma ing ice
cubes, and storing frozen and deep-frozen food;
defrosting is m nu l procedure. The
refriger tor comp rtment, which has an
utom tic defrost fe ture, is used for the storage
of fresh food and beverages.
To get the most out of your new ppli nce, re d
the user h ndbook thoroughly. The h ndbook
cont ins description of the ppli nce nd
useful tips for storing food.
Keep this h ndbook for future consult tion.
1.After unpac ing the appliance, ma e sure that
the doors shut properly. Any damage must be
reported to your dealer within 24 hours after
delivery of the appliance.
2.W it t le st two hours without moving the
ppli nce before switching on. This will give
the refriger nt circuit time to settle nd
oper te efficiently.
3.Installation of the appliance and electrical
connections must be carried out by a qualified
electrician, in accordance with the manufacturer's
instructions and local regulations.
SAFEGUARDING THE ENVIRONMENT
1.P cking
The pac aging material is entirely recyclable, and
mar ed with the recycling symbol.
Follow local regulations for scrapping.
Keep the pac aging materials (plastic bags,
polystyrene parts, etc.) out of reach of children, as
they are potentially dangerous.
2.Appli nce
The appliance is made using recyclable materials.
Disposal must be carried out in accordance with
local environmental regulations for waste disposal.
Ma e the appliance unusable by cutting off the
power cord. The appliance must be delivered to an
authorised collection centre for the recovery of
refrigerant gas.
Inform tion:
This appliance does not contain CFCs (replaced
with R134a) or HFCs (replaced with R600a -
Isobutane). For more information, refer to the
identification data plate affixed to the appliance.

PRECAUTIONS AND GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS
Use the refriger tor comp rtment only for
storing fresh food and beverages and use the
freezer comp rtment only for storing frozen
food, freezing fresh food and ma ing ice cubes.
Do not cover or obstruct the air vents of the
appliance.
Do not store liquids in glass containers in the
freezer compartment - danger of bursting.
Do not eat ice cubes or ice lollies immediately
after ta ing them out of the freezer
compartment - ris of cold burns.
Do not allow children to play or hide inside the
appliance - ris of becoming trapped and
suffocating.
Do not ingest the contents (non-toxic) of the ice
pac s (if provided).
 Before servicing or cle ning the ppli nce,
unplug it from the m ins or disconnect the
electric l power supply.
The power cable may only be replaced by an
authorised person.
After installation, ma e sure that therefrigerator
is not standing on the power supply cable.
Decl r tion of conformity
This appliance is intended to come into contact with
foodstuffs and conforms to D.L. 108 of 25.01.1992
(European Directive 89/109/EEC).
Inform tion
Appli nces with Isobut ne (R600 )
Isobutane is a natural gas with low environmental
impact. Caution is required, however, since
isobutane is flammable. Therefore, it is essential to
ensure that refrigerant pipelines are not damaged.
HOW TO OPERATE THE REFRIGERATOR COMPARTMENT
Defrosting of the refriger tor comp rtment is completely
utom tic.
The refrigerator can operate at ambient temperature between
+10° C and +38° C. Optimal performance is obtained at
temperatures between +16° C and +32° C.
Switching on the ppli nce
Turn the selector (1) to the position shown on the product
description sheet (recommended by the Manufacturer).
Green LED (3) lights up, indicating operation of the refrigerator
compartment. In models with one compressor only, lso turn
the nob to switch on the appliance (4).
Turn the nob (1) to Off to switch off the refrigerator
compartment.
To switch the light off when the door is open, pull the switch (8).
SUPERCOOL/TURBOCOOL FUNCTION
In order to cool food rapidly, press the button (2): green LED
(3) will become yellow and remain so throughout this
function. To cancel the operation, press the button again.
Import nt:
After being switched on, the refrigerator needs approximately
30 minutes to reach the correct temperature to store a typical
volume of food in the refrigerator compartment.
CLEANING FUNCTION
By turning the nob (1) to Off it is possible to clean and empty
the refrigerator compartment with the light on. Pull the switch
(8) to switch the light off.

To djust the temper ture, follow the instructions in the
ccomp nying ch rt.
To switch off the refriger tor comp rtment:
Turn the nob (1) to Off.
Pull the light switch (8) if you wish to leave the door open.
How to use the refriger tor comp rtment
Position the food as shown in the figure.

Notes:
the space between the shelves and the rear wall of the
refrigerator compartment must be unobstructed to allow
circulation of air.
Do not place food in direct contact with the rear wall of the
refrigerator compartment.
Do not place hot food in the refrigerator or freezer.
Store liquids in closed containers.
Storing vegetables with a high water content can result in
condensation in the crisper drawer: this will not affect the correct
operation of the appliance.
Turn the temperature selector (4) to the position shown on
the product description sheet.
The red LED (9) remains lit (for about 1 hour), until the critical
alarm temperature is reached. The red LED lights up when:
-The appliance is connected to the power supply for the first
time;
-the door of the freezer is open too long;
-the quantity of food loaded into the freezer exceeds that
indicated on the data plate;
-the freezer compartment temperature is too high.
The green LED (7) lights up when the freezer compartment
is operating.
After switching on, the freezer compartment ta es
approximately 3 hours to reach a suitable temperature for
frozen food storage.
To djust the temper ture, follow the instructions in the
ccomp nying ch rt.
To switch off the freezer comp rtment ( nd the refriger tor
comp rtment in the models with 1 compressor):
Turn the nob (4) to Off.

HOW TO OPERATE THE FREEZER COMPARTMENT
How to freeze fresh food
You can use the freezer compartment to freeze food.
The amount of fresh food that can be frozen in 24 hours, at an
ambient temperature of +25°C, is indicated on the data plate.
How to operate:
24 hours before freezing fresh food, press the fast freeze
button (6). The freezer compartment operation LED (7) turns
from green to yellow and remains so while this function is
selected (24 h).
Wrap and seal the food in: aluminium foil, cling film,
watertight plastic bags, polythene containers with lids or
special freezer containers.
Place food in the top compartment, leaving enough space for
air to circulate around pac s. To speed up the freezing
process and increase the compartment capacity remove the
top bas et and the ice pac storage drawer (if provided). Put
the already frozen food into the other drawers and the food
still to be frozen directly onto the refrigerator grid. For more
efficient freezing, use the fast freeze function for the next 24
hours by pressing the button (6) again when the yellow LED
(7) turns bac to green.
HALF LOAD FUNCTION
When the freezer is only partially full, put all the food in the
central bas et and set the nob (4) to HALF LOAD for energy
saving.
Note:
In the event of a power failure, the freezer compartment
maintains the correct storage temperature for about 16 hours.
In models with one or two ice pac s, this temperature can be
maintained for about 25/30 hours.
Do not open the freezer compartment door during a power
failure.
Import nt:
The t ble longside shows the recommended m ximum stor ge
time for frozen fresh foods.
When purch sing frozen food products:
Ensure that the pac aging is not damaged (frozen food in
damaged pac aging may have deteriorated). If the pac age
is swollen or has damp patches, it may not have been stored
under optimal conditions and defrosting may have already
begun.
When shopping, leave frozen food purchases until last and
transport the products in a thermally insulated cool bag.
Place the items in the freezer compartment as soon as you
get home.
If food has defrosted even partially, do not re-freeze it.
Consume within 24 hours.
Avoid, or reduce temperature variations to the minimum.
Respect the best-before date on the pac age.
Always observe the storage information on the pac age.

HOW TO DEFROST THE FREEZER COMPARTMENT
M king ice cubes
Fill the ice cube tray 3/4 with water and place it at the
bottom of the freezer compartment. To speed up the ice
ma ing process, place the tray on the bottom of the first
drawer (as shown in the figure) and not on the ice pac rac
(if provided).
If the tray stic s to the bottom of the compartment, do not
use pointed or sharp instruments to detach it.
Defrost the freezer comp rtment once or twice ye r, or
when the ice on the w lls re ches thickness of bout 3 mm.
If possible, defrost the freezer when it is ne rly empty.
24 hours before defrosting, press the fast freeze button (6);
the LED (7) turns from green to yellow. This brings the foods
to the lowest possible temperature.
Remove the food from the freezer, wrap in a newspaper and
group together in a cool place or in a portable cooler.
Disconnect the appliance from the mains power supply.
Remove the ice-cube tray.
Remove the bas ets.
Pull out the defrost water drain from the base of the freezer
compartment.
Leave the freezer compartment door open. Place the lower
bas et, which has a hole in the rear part, under the drain to
collect the defrost water.
Note: Do not use sh rp or pointed met l instruments to scr pe
off ice; do not he t the freezer comp rtment rtifici lly. Any
d m ge to the ppli nce resulting from f ilure to observe
these instructions is not covered by the gu r ntee.
Clean the freezer compartment using a sponge dampened in
a solution of warm water and neutral detergent. Do not use
abrasive products.
Rinse the interior and dry thoroughly.
Reconnect the appliance to the power supply.
Refit the drain in place and reposition the bas ets.
Before putting the food bac in the freezer compartment, press
the fast freeze button (6). The green LED (7) turns to yellow.
Note: The increase in temperature of frozen food during
defrosting can shorten its storage life.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Before c rrying out ny cle ning oper tions, unplug the
ppli nce.
Clean the inside of the freezer compartment when defrosting.
Periodically clean the inside of the refrigerator compartment
with a sponge dampened in warm water and/or neutral
detergent. Rinse the interior and dry with a soft cloth. Do not
use abrasive products.
Clean the outside with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive
products, scourers, stain-removers (e.g. acetone,
trichloroethylene) or vinegar.
Defrosting of the refrigerator compartment is completely
automatic. Some models are provided with a drain hole.
Clean the defrost water drain outlet regularly using the tool
supplied with the appliance. This precaution ensures that
defrost water is removed correctly.
 Periodic lly cle n the condenser (r di tor) t the re r of
the ppli nce nd the plinth with v cuum cle ner or
brush.
Prolonged disuse
1.Empty the refrigerator and freezer compartments.
2.Disconnect the appliance from the power supply.
3.Defrost the freezer compartment, and clean and dry both
compartments.
4.Leave the doors open to prevent formation of unpleasant
odours.

TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
1. The ppli nce is not working.
Is there a power failure?
Is the plug properly inserted in the soc et?
Is the double-pole switch on?
Has the fuse blown?
Is the power cord in perfect condition?
Are the thermostat nobs set to OFF?
2. Temper ture inside the comp rtments is not
low enough.
Are the doors closed properly?
Is the appliance installed near a heat source?
Is the thermostat set correctly?
Are the air circulation grilles bloc ed?
Is the condenser clean?
3. Temper ture inside the refriger tor
comp rtment is too low.
Is the thermostat set correctly?
4. W ter collects t the bottom of the
refriger tor comp rtment.
Is the defrost water drain bloc ed?
Is the thermostat set correctly?
5. The ppli nce is excessively noisy.
Is the appliance in contact with other
furniture or objects?
Are the pipes at the bac touching or
vibrating?
Has the compressor loc ing pin been
eliminated?
6. The inside light is not working.
Perform the chec s for problem 1, and then:
Disconnect the appliance from the mains
power supply.
Remove the bulb cover.
Chec the bulb and if necessary replace it.
Replace using maximum 15W bulb.
N.B.: This product uses a special bulb; to replace
do not unscrew. Pull towards the inside of the
appliance.
7. The red LED rem ins light.
See: How to operate the freezer
compartment.
Notes:
 The front edge of the ppli nce m y be hot.
This prevents the form tion of condens tion
nd is not defect.
 Gurgling nd hissing noises due to exp nsion
in the refriger nt circuit re norm l.
AFTER-SALES SERVICE
Before cont cting After-S les Service:
1.See if you can solve the problem yourself with
the help of the Troubleshooting guide.
2.Switch the appliance on again to see if the
problem has been solved. If it has not,
disconnect the appliance from the power supply
and wait for about an hour before switching on
again.
3.If the problem persists after this course of
action, contact After-sales Service.
Specify:
The nature of the problem,
The model,
The Service number (the number after the word
SERVICE on the data plate on the inside of the
appliance),
Your full address,
Your telephone number and area code.
Note:
The direction of door opening c n be ch nged. If
this oper tion is performed by After-s les
Service it is not covered by the w rr nty.

INSTALLATION
Install the appliance away from heat sources.
Install the appliance in a dry, well-ventilated place.
Ensure that the appliance is level. Adjust the front feet if
necessary.
Leave at least 5 cm clearance above the appliance.
The sides of some models are extended at the rear so the
appliance can be placed directly against the rear wall.
Otherwise, fit the spacers (if supplied) on the upper part of
the condenser at the rear of the appliance. For models
without spacer walls, the distance between the unit and the
wall must be at least 4.5 cm.
Clean the inside (see chapter Care and Maintenance).
Fit the accessories supplied.
Remove the compressor loc ing pin (according to the model).
Electric l connection
Electrical connections must be made in accordance with local
regulations.
Ensure that the voltage indicated on the appliance data plate
corresponds to the domestic supply voltage.
 Regul tions require th t the ppli nce is e rthed.
The M nuf cturer declines ll li bilities for injury to
persons or nim ls or d m ge to property resulting from
f ilure to observe these regul tions.
If the plug and soc et are not of the same type, have the
soc et replaced by a qualified electrician.
Do not use extension cables, multiple soc ets or adapters.

ELECTRICAL CONNECTION

Fuse repl cement
If the mains lead of this appliance is fitted with a BS 1363A
13amp fused plug, to change a fuse in this type of plug use an
A.S.T.A. approved fuse to BS 1362 type and proceed as follows:
1.Remove the fuse cover (A) and fuse (B).
2.Fit replacement 13A fuse into fuse cover.
3.Refit both into plug.
Import nt:
The fuse cover must be refitted when changing a fuse and if the
fuse cover is lost the plug must not be used until a correct
replacement is fitted.
Correct replacement are identified by the colour insert or the
colour embossed in words on the base of the plug.
Replacement fuse covers are available from your local electrical
store.
For the Republic of Irel nd only
The information given in respect of Great Britain will frequently
apply, but a third type of plug and soc et is also used, the 2-
pin, side earth type.
Socket outlet / plug (v lid for both countries)
If the fitted plug is not suitable for your soc et outlet, please
contact Whirlpool Service for further instruction. Please do not
attempt to change plug yourself. This procedure needs to be
carried out by a qualified Whirlpool technician in compliance
with the manufactures instructions and current standard safety
regulations.
