1Intro uction an important notes
This manual is inten e to familiarize you with your XCAT mo el option
RowVista an RowMotion an to help you gui e your XCAT safely. In a ition
to the escription of the ru er options, it also contains assembly an
isassembly of the ru er options an information on safe han ling/
operation of the XCAT.
The escription of the XCAT Basic an other accessories can be foun in the
"XCAT Basic" manual.
Please keep this manual in a safe place an han it over to the new owner
when you sell the XCAT.
1.1 Safety instructions (for all XCAT mo els)
Carefully read the following safety instructions and all warnings and notes
in this manual before starting up your XCAT.
WARNING
Whether on land or water, STAY AWAY FRO POWER LINES! Contact
with power lines can result in serious injury or death.
Inform yourself about the legal regulations of the country or region in which
you are commissioning the XCAT.
Make sure that the expecte win an sea con itions correspon to esign
category C (nearshore waters) an that you an , if applicable, your crew are
capable of han ling the XCAT in these con itions. Any watercraft, no matter
how strongly built, can suffer serious amage from improper han ling. This is
not compatible with safe boating. Therefore, always a just the spee an
irection of travel of your XCAT to the sea con itions. Take weather reports
seriously an be aware of win con itions, local currents an ti es. Be
responsible. Do not overestimate your abilities at sea an o not neglect
safety regulations. Never use the XCAT or your passengers while un er the
influence of alcohol, rugs or me ication. Protect yourself from the sun in
hot weather an take plenty of water to rink.

Before operating the XCAT, check all components for possible amage. Do
not let any line or other objects hang away from the boat while riving -
there is a risk of getting caught on bushes or stones.
Avoi unnecessary groun ing. Never rag the boat over stones. Avoi the risk
of injury by making sure that all passengers have legs an arms on the boat
before ocking an casting off. Learn to han le the boat in a variety of
situations. Give your passengers an intro uction to how to han le the boat so
they can leave control of the boat to another passenger in case of an
emergency. Inform a person on shore of estination an planne return.
The maximum recommen e payloa of 240 kg an the recommen e
number of maximum 3 persons must not be excee e . Regar less of the
number of people on boar , the total weight of people an equipment must
never excee the recommen e maximum payloa . Loa ing must always be
one carefully, istributing the loa s appropriately to maintain the esign
trim.
Protect yourself an , if necessary, your crew by wearing appropriate life
jackets/ buoyancy ai s an col weather protective clothing. Take into
account that in some countries there are legal requirements to wear
buoyancy ai s that comply with national rules at all times. If you are sailing
the XCAT alone an unatten e in waters whose shore you cannot reach by
swimming, you shoul , if necessary, connect yourself to the XCAT with a
suitable rubber line (e.g. 6 m long an 5 mm thick). Do not sail alone below
10° Celsius water temperature! Do not use a fixe line to attach yourself to
the XCAT. There is a DANGER OF LIFE if the boat capsizes!
Observe the traffic regulations: You always participate in water traffic with
your XCAT, even if you use it for your recreational pleasure. Water traffic is
regulate by or inances, which iffer accor ing to the area of application.
Machine- riven vehicles (motorboats, personal watercraft) are require to
give way to sailing vessels. Muscle-powere vehicles without their own boat
rive (pa lers, pe al boats, rowing boats) are require to give way to
sailing vessels. So always check which XCAT mo el option you are currently
using an who you are obligate to yiel to. But forcing right of way is
forbi en! Therefore, give way yourself in goo time with the " Last Minute
Maneuver". Commercial shipping always has the right of way! In the inlan
an coastal area, it is generally vali that vehicles of the professional
navigation have the right of way. This inclu es in particular: Ferries, work
vehicles, police an rescue services, fishing vessels with eploye nets. So
keep your istance an avoi them!

When on the water with the XCAT, always carry an alternate emergency
propulsion system, such as a pa le, oar system, or outboar motor.
1.2 Important notes on transport an storage
Secure the XCAT uring transport, e.g. on the roof of the car, using suitable
fastening material, e.g. the XCAT transport kit.
Check the tensioning straps regularly an retighten them if necessary.
Observe the instructions in the manuals for your vehicle an the roof rack
system, particularly with regar to maximum roof loa s an maximum
spee s.
If you store the hulls on the car roof for a long time, loosen the tension
straps to prevent the hulls from warping permanently.
Also, when storing the hulls in other rooms such as garage, basement, etc.,
o not fix the hulls with tension belts.
Do not use tensioning straps with ratchet, as there is a risk that the hulls will
be amage by excessive tensioning. Therefore, only use tensioning straps
with a simple clamping lock.
If the hulls are col er than the center an si e beams after transport,
assembly may be ifficult because the istances no longer match ue to
ifferent expansion coefficients. In this case, store all parts at the same
temperature for some time before assembly.
Clean the boat after each use. Free it from salt resi ues or stones to prevent
possible amage.
Always rinse all parts with fresh water after use in salt water.

Manual RowVista/RowMotion Page 7 E ition: 05/2023
A plastic polishing compoun can be use to polish the hulls for heavier irt.
Always store the hulls with the keel upwar s so that water oes not
permanently run into the flanges.
Do not store the hulls permanently in the sun on one si e, otherwise they
may warp.
Do not store the hulls in the sun un er a cover. This can cause heat buil up
an warping of the hulls.
Do not store the outboar seats permanently in the blazing sun, as they are
not completely UV-resistant. Dismantle the outboar seats after sailing an
store them in the sha e or cover them (also recommen e against irt an
especially bir roppings).
Always maintain your XCAT properly an take into account the wear an tear
that occurs over time ue to frequent use or improper use.
Row&Sail GmbH cannot be hel responsible for changes that it has not
agree to.

1.3 Environmental protection
As water sports enthusiasts, we feel the effects of environmental pollution
firsthan , so to speak. The feeling of iving into a chemically contaminate
mu y broth uring take-off an lan ing above a capsize can thoroughly
spoil the fun of water sports. Just as we expect clean water an a
biologically intact environment for our recreational sports, we shoul strive
to keep the environmental impact of operating the XCAT as low as possible.
The hull skin of the XCAT is ma e of HD-PE. A weather-resistant, impact-
resistant an irt-repellent plastic that is easy to clean. Even attache shells
are easy to remove. The hulls, fille with EPP particle foam, are extremely
impact resistant, unsinkable an almost in estructible. An yet, because of
the foam core, very light an stable. HD-PE an EPP are both very
environmentally frien ly an easy to recycle.
With the XCAT mo el options, you are always environmentally frien ly on the
roa .

The RowVista forwar ru er system eliminates the nee to keep turning
your hea to keep your eyes on the irection of travel. Instea , you row in
the same irection as you are facing. The innovative mechanism of the
RowVista® allows the ru er bla e to be turne up an own, just like
tra itional sculling.
-Easier to steer the boat by looking ahea constant course
correction.
-The visible bla e insert is a huge a vantage in stronger waves. You can
see the wave troughs perfect for "Coastal Rowing" an mastering
the bow waves of larger ships.
-Thanks to the use of ball bearings, no loss of force in the eflection.
All parts of the rowing system are esigne an thought out so that you o
not nee any tools for assembly an isassembly.
No more misses ue to rotation limitation in both irections. RowVista
rowing is therefore easier to learn than classic rowing.
The forwar ru er sculls are ma e of lightweight carbon fiber with
maximum strength. The sophisticate esign provi es the perfect basis for
the flow of the ru er process with maximum energy efficiency.
