Engine

from

clutch-brake
pedal
is
depressed
and
theliftleverisin

In
addition.
theliftlever
mustbeinthe
BLADES
STOP
position
whenthe
unit
is
put
into
reverse
or
the
engine
will
shutoff.

engagedand/orwithout
settingthe
parking
brake,theenginewill
shutoff

clutch-brake
pedal
and
set
parking
brake.

Setthethrottle
control

outthe
chokecontrol
(a
warm
enginemaynot
require
choking).
. Turntheignitionkeytotherighttothe
START
position.
Afterthe
enginestarts,
releasethekey.lt
willreturntothe
ONDosition.
NOTE: Protectthe starter'slfe by using short starling
cycles of several seconds. Cranking more than 15
seconds
perminutecandamagethestartermotor.

Movethethrottle
controltodesiredenginespeed.
Stopping

Removethe
key
to
prevent
accidentalstarting.

Removewirefrom
spark
plug,
thoroughly
inspecttheunitforanydamage,andrepairthe
damage
before
restarlingandoperatingthemower.

leverin neutral,
engagebrake
lock,
shut
offengineandremovekey.

Movethrottlecontrolto
fullthrottle
tooreventstrain
on
the
engineand
tooperatethecutting
blades.
Depresstheclutch-brake
pedal
while
pushing
downon
the
parking
brake
knob
so
the
parking
brakeisreleased,andthen
release
theclutch-
brake
pedal.
Placethehydrostaticcontrolleverineitherthe
FORWARDorthe
REVERSE
oosition.
The
farther
forward
you
movethelever,thefaster
you
will
travel.
Looktotherear
before
reversing.
Tostopthe
lawntractor,
pull
thehydrostatic
control
leverintoNEUTRAL
(N)
ordepresstheclutch-
brake
pedal.
Be
sure
thatthelawnis
clearofstones,
sticks,wire,
orotherobjects
which
coulddamage
lawntractor
or
engine.Forbest
results
and
toinsuremore
even
grass
distribution,do
notmowwhenthelawnis
excessively
wet.
Beforeleavingtheoperator's
position
forany
reason,disengagetheblades,
place
the
hydrostatic
control
leverinneutral,
engage
the
parking
brake,shutengineoffandremovethekey.
Followthesame
procedure
when
stoppingtheunit
toemptya
grass
bag.
This
procedure
willalso
eliminate
"browning"
ofthe
grass,
whichiscaused
byexposure
tohotexhaust
gases
fromengine.
