1 General notes
1.1 Meaning of the operating instructions
Before installation and start-up, read this manual carefully to ensure correct use!
We emphasize that these operating instructions apply to specific units only, and are in
no way valid for the complete system!
Use these operating instructions to work safely with and on the device. They contain
safety instructions that must be complied with as well as information that is required for
failure-free operation of the device.
Keep these operating instructions together with the device. It must be ensured that all
persons that are to work on the device can refer to the operating instructions at any time.
1.2 Target group
The operating instructions address persons entrusted with planning, installation, start-
up, maintenance and servicing, who have the corresponding qualifications and skills for
their job.
2 Safety instructions
Information
Mounting, electrical connection, and start-up operation may only be carried out by an
electrical specialist in accordance with electrotechnical regulations (e.g. EN 50110 or
EN 60204)!
Danger due to electric current
•It is forbidden to carry out work on live device parts. The degree of protection for the
open device is IP00! Potentially fatal voltages can be touched directly.
•Observe the 5 electrical safety rules.
•Even after disconnecting the mains voltage, life-threatening charges can appear
between the protective ground “PE” and the mains connection.
Waiting period at least 3 minutes!
•The device for which the adapter is used may only be opened when the mains supply
line is switched off and after waiting at least 3 minutes.
•Through use of capacitors, danger of death exists even after switching off the device
through directly touching the energized parts or due to parts that have become
energized due to faults.

3 Product overview
3.1 Function
Parameter update via the service interface for ECblue motors and fans. Firmware update
for the I/O board via additional connection cables.
The service adapter is compatible with the following products:
•ECblue BASIC-MODBUS and ECblue BASIC of motor size B (090), D (116), G (152).
•ECblue of motor size O (072) 500 W, B (090).
3.2 Scope of delivery
Two versions are available, which differ in the scope of delivery. With article number
380111, the connection cables for updating the IO printed circuit board are included in
addition to article number 380112.

3.4 Storage
•The device must be stored in its original packaging in a dry and weather-proof room.
•Avoid exposure to extreme heat and cold.
•Avoid over-long storage periods (we recommend a maximum of one year).

3.5 Disposal / Recycling
Disposal must be carried out professionally and in an environmentally friendly way in
accordance with the respective national legal stipulations.
"Separate the materials by type and in an environmentally-friendly way.
"If necessary, commission a specialist company with the waste disposal.
4 Inserting and connecting the service adapter
Danger due to electric current
•Never use the adapter when the supply voltage is connected.
•Turn off the supply voltage and secure against switching back on.
•Before opening the device, wait at least 3 minutes.
•Check the safe isolation from supply with a two-pole voltage detector.
Attention, electrostatic sensitive devices!
•Before removing the adapter from the packaging, touch the protective earth connec-
tion in the device to ensure potential equalisation.
•If the adapter is not inserted immediately after unpacking, repeat the potential equal-
isation shortly before installation.
•Do not touch the plug connection.

Procedure for inserting the adapter
•Remove the cover from the ECblue controller housing.
•Remove the cover from the slot for the AM-STICK-WB. If an AM-STICK-WB is
inserted, remove it.
•Insert the adapter in the correct position.

Procedure for connecting the adapter
1. Plug the USB cable into the adapter and connect to the computer.
2. If necessary, secure the cable ties at the recess in the housing using cable ties.
3. To update the I/O printed circuit board, connect the additional connection cable
article no. 00166181 to the adapter and connect to the ECblue.
–Connect the black cable to the GND terminal.
–Connect the red cable to the 24 V terminal.
After completing the update or programming, remove the cables and disconnect the
adapter. Fit the cover on the slot or replace the AM-STICK-WB if installed.
Refit the cover of the controller housing using the specified torque, see ECblue assembly
instructions.

4.2 ECblue motor size O(072)500 W, B(090)
Procedure for inserting the adapter
•Remove the terminal compartment cover.
•If an AM-STICK-WB is inserted, remove it.
•Insert the adapter in the correct position.
Procedure for connecting the adapter
1. Plug the USB cable into the adapter and connect to the computer.
2. If necessary, secure the cable ties at the recess in the housing using cable ties.
3. To update the I/O printed circuit board, connect the additional connection cable
article no. 00166180 to the adapter and attach it to the 10V and GND pins in the
correct position on the ECblue plug connection.
After completing the update or programming, remove the cables and disconnect the
adapter. Re-insert the AM-STICK-WB if installed.

Re-install the terminal compartment cover using the specified torque, see ECblue
assembly instructions.
