Edit Out
The E
DIT
O
UT
button pla es the Edit Out Mark above the urrent Cursor position on the
waveform. When the Edit In and Edit Out marks have been pla ed at different points, the
waveform between them will appear highlighted.
Cut
The Cut fun tion removes highlighted audio between the Edit In and Edit Out marks, and
transfers it to a lipboard memory for possible use in a subsequent Insert operation. After the
Cut operation, the surrounding audio joins together, reating a ontinuous file.
Cut an also be used with a Crossfade. This auses the material at the Cut point to be
overlapped by the spe ified Crossfade Time, and then a smooth transition is reated between
the overlapped se tions. See the se tion on Editing for more details.
Copy
The Copy fun tion makes a opy of a marked portion of audio, for subsequent transfer to
another destination. Unlike Cut, it does not remove the audio, and the running time of the file
remains the same.

opy a file within the dire tory, or to a different dire tory or disk.
• To assign a file to a Hot Key, sele t the file in the files display, hold
COPY
and
press the desired H
OT
K
EY
. The display warns you if another file is already
assigned to the Hot Key; press E
NTER
to reassign the key.
• When used in the Dire tory Sele t display, C
OPY
will all a menu that allows
you to opy all files in a dire tory to another dire tory.
Insert
The Insert fun tion inserts the urrent lipboard ontents (from a Cut or Copy operation)
at the lo ation of the Edit In mark.
• Pla ing the Edit Out mark at the same point results in a simple insertion,
moving all material after the marked point later in time, dire tly after the end of
the inserted material.
• Pla ing Edit Out at a different point permits Insert to overwrite a defined range,
repla ing existing material. Unless the operation is Undone, this material is
permanently erased from the file being edited. It will still exist in any opies of
the file. If the file has not been saved sin e the edit, perform a Save As (A
LT
+
S
AVE
) to preserve your edits in a new file and then get the repla ed material
from the file you were originally editing.

Gain Editing
Gain Editing fun tions in lude Adjust Level, Set Gain, Fade In, Fade Out and Relative
Fade. These are a essed by pressing S

2 while in the Editor. Gain Edits are non-
destru tive. The gain is adjusted on playba k, so the original audio data is un hanged and the
effe t of Gain Edits an be removed at any time. See the se tion on Editing for more details.
