2.0 Introduction
Congratulations on upgrading to Fliiiight! Please take the time
to follow each step of the recommended upgrade procedure in
order to get the most out of your trainer.
2.1 Upgrade tips
Move the magnet array by hand when the trainer is
OFF. Do not attempt to move by hand when the trainer
is ON.
When you press the ON switch, the magnets will close
on the wheel to center themselves, and then release.
Keep fingers and tools clear of the magnets when you
press the ON switch.
Note that unlike the STAC Zero Base and Powermeter
models, the 4iiii Fliiiight cannot be modified to work
with a steel beaded tire.
Do not use the STAC Zero wheel weights or spoke
magnet with Fliiiight. They will interfere with the optical
speed sensor.

3.0 Upgrade Steps
3.1 Mount the resistance unit
1. Confirm that the 2 set
screws protrude slightly from
the load cell. If they do not,
insert the 3mm Allen Key into
the screw hole from the rear
side through the plastic
shield, and turn the screws to
the right until they protrude
by at least 2 threads.
2. Unscrew the two mounting
bolts on your STAC Zero
resistance unit using your
4mm Allen Key, and remove
the resistance unit.
3. Use the position of your old
resistance unit as your initial
guide for mounting the new
resistance unit. Attach your
Fliiiight resistance unit to the
frame, tightening the 2
mounting bolts enough to
prevent any movement of the
resistance unit until you
perform the alignment steps.

3.2 Install the bike in the trainer
1. Remove your STAC Zero wheel weights and spoke
magnet from your bike. Install your STAC Zero
trainer skewer.
2. Rotate the magnet arrays so they are parallel with
the wheel rim. They should click into place.
3. Set up the trainer frame as usual.
4. Retract the threaded rods. Back the bike into the
trainer frame, aiming the wheel between the
magnet arrays.
5. Lift one skewer end into the skewer cup. Tighten
the other knob until the both skewer cups firmly
secure the trainer skewer.
6. Tighten the lock nuts against the frame.

Tip: To simplify installation, the Fliiiight resistance unit is
designed to slide side-to-side, and center itself on the wheel. The
wheel should be approximately center, but precise placement is
not required.

4.0 Magnet Alignment
1. With the bike
installed in the trainer
and the trainer off,
slide the resistance
unit over to one side,
until the magnet array
touches the wheel rim.
Check that the
magnets are level with
the rim. Check from
both sides.
4.1 Height
Your magnet array should be level with your bike’s wheel rim. If
the magnet array is too low it will partially face the tire. If it is
too high it will partially face above the wheel rim.
Too Low
Correct Height
Align for height:
1. Using the 4mm Allen key, loosen both mounting bolts
slightly and raise or lower the resistance unit as needed.
2. Re-tighten the mounting bolts.
3. Recheck the height.

4.2 Concentricity
The magnet array should track the curve of the wheel when
viewed from the side. If the front end of the magnet array is
higher or lower on the rim than the rear end, it is not
concentric.
Concentric
Non-Concentric
Align for concentricity:
1. Adjust the mounting angle:
a. If the front end of the magnet array is lower,
slightly loosen the lower bolt and tighten the
upper mounting bolt until the magnet array
comes into alignment.
b. If the front end of the magnet array is higher,
slightly loosen the upper bolt and tighten the
lower mounting bolt until the magnet array
comes into alignment.
2. Ensure both mounting bolts are tight.
3. Re-check concentricity and height

4.3 Parallelism
The space between the magnet array and your wheel rim
should be even from the front of the magnet array to the back.
Parallel
Non-Parallel
Align for parallelism:
1. Slightly loosen both mounting bolts.
2. Use the 3mm Allen Key to adjust one of two set screws
to change the mounting angle. Set screws are accessible
from the back of the load cell, in the screw holes
perpendicular to the mounting bolts.
a. If the magnet arrays skew right towards the
front of the bike when viewed from above,
tighten the outer set screw, closer to the frame.
b. If the magnet arrays skew left towards the front
of the bike when viewed from above, tighten
the inner set screw, closer to the bike.
c. If you adjust the set screw too far in one
direction on your first attempt, resulting in the
opposite parallelism error, loosen the over-
tightened set screw slightly before attempting
to tighten the other one.
3. Re-check parallelism and concentricity.

5.0 Activate Fliiiight and Connect to
an App
1. Install one (1) speed index on a spoke. Slide the index
towards the rim.
Tip: Additional indexes are provided as spares. Installing
more than one will interfere with trainer operation.
2. Start your favorite cycling app.
3. Flip the “ON” switch. The magnet arrays will close on
your wheel in order to center themselves. Keep the
wheel still until they release.
4. Connect with Fliiiight. Check the app’s support
resources for assistance connecting with and navigating
in your individual app.
5. Pedal to start your ride.
Tip: 1. Remember to turn Fliiiight off
whenever it is not in use. Unlike the STAC
Zero Halcyon and Powermeter, Fliiiight
does not auto-off. 2. The statu light is on
when Fliiiight is on.

6.0 Fliiiight Best Practices
Find the full Fliiiight manual and additional help articles and
videos online at 4iiii.com/support
1. Calibrate Fliiiight
oFliiiight comes calibrated for a standard 700c road
wheel or 29” MTB wheel. If you have a different
wheel size, use the 4iiii app to update the wheel rim
circumference for the most accurate power.
2. Gear up
oDoubling your wheel speed doubles the maximum
possible resistance, and quadruples the maximum
watts, while creating a more realistic road feel.
3. Keep riding
oFliiiight learns as you ride, fine tuning ERG accuracy
and road feel. Next steps for troubleshooting: use
the 4iiii app’s diagnostic tools to see feedback from
Fliiiight’s sensors.
4. Charging and storing Fliiiight
oFliiiight can be charged during, or between rides.
Turn Fliiiight off when not in use. Do not operate or
charge below 5°C (41°F). Do not store Fliiiight with a
depleted battery.
