Kit contains components necessary to
connect 3/8" outlet tube to 1/2" faucet
fitting and 3/8" water supply. If you have
a different sized faucet connection, you
may need additional parts to complete

Before installing:
• Do not install this filtration system
where the line pressure may
exceed 100 psi. The operating
pressure range for this filtration
system is between 25 psi – 100 psi.
• Install on cold water lines only
(40° – 100° F).
• Protect unit from freezing.
• It is recommended your system
be installed indoors, out of direct
sunlight. Prolonged exposure
to light can weaken plastic
components, resulting in filter
housing failure.
• Do not install the unit on its side.
It must be installed upright to
maximize contact with media bed.
• Installation of the filtration system
must comply with existing state
and local plumbing codes. A.
O. Smith and its manufacturer
is not liable for consequential
or incidental damages due to
improper installation.
• Some local codes may require
the use of a licensed plumber or
certified installer when disrupting
a potable water line.
• Due to the varieties of home
design, not all installation
configurations can be addressed in
this guide.
• Improper sequence of equipment
will affect performance and could
damage your system.
When installing:
• Properly tighten all fittings to
ensure a leak-free assembly.
• Allow a minimum of 2 1/2" clear
space below unit to facilitate
filter change.
• Support filter with bracket
supplied and support pipe
with pipe hangers.

2PRECAUTIONS
Ensure operating pressures are within filter
housing specifications. Some installations may
require a pressure reducer installed before filter
system to reduce operating pressures.
READ ALL PRECAUTIONS AND INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY.
Do not use with water that is microbiologically
unsafe or of unknown quality without adequate
disinfection before or after the system.

INSTALLATION GUIDE
Install faucet adapter fitting to faucet (See Figure 1).
To prevent damage to fitting, do not over-tighten.
Insert a section of plastic tubing into fitting, ensuring
the end of the tubing is firmly seated to backstop.
Slide the compression hex nut and ferrule onto
one end of the tubing and add in the tube insert.
(See Figure 2).
Fasten this assembly onto the 3/8" water supply outlet.
Do not over-tighten. Over-tightening
will cause tubing to separate from fitting.
TIP
Remove items from under the sink. Place a catch
basin there to collect small amounts of water that
may run out when disconnecting water supply lines.

Turn off cold water supply. Remove
existing fitting and/or tubing from
cold water side of faucet.
Loosely assemble filter housing to
filter head and attach filter bracket.
Use this assembly to mark a location
under the sink to allow for easy
access for filter replacement.
Allow enough room to use housing
wrench plus a minimum of 2 1/2"
clear space below the unit to allow
for filter replacement. Once this is
done, disassemble components
for installation.

Wrap Teflon®tape (2 1/2 wraps) to the
right around the 3/8" Push-In Fittings and
fasten to filter head. (See Figure 4).
Do not use pipe sealant (dope), as
solvents in some types of pipe dope may
cause damage to plastic fittings.
Insert water supply line to port marked
“IN” (See Figure 5, A) and insert faucet
line to port marked “OUT” (See Figure 5,
B) Insert plastic tubing into fittings,
and ensure end of tubing is firmly seated
to backstop.

Using Push-In Fittings
Push tubing in as far as it will go.
Tubing must be inserted past the o-ring
and hit the backstop. Pull tube to
ensure it is secured.
To Release Tubing
Push in grey collet to release tubing.
With collet held, pull tubing
straight out.

Fasten bracket to filter head with
four Phillips Head screws provided
If pre-drilling holes, use bracket as a
template for screw hole locations.
(See Figure 6).
Place filter into housing. Align housing
to filter head and screw it onto filter
head. Hand tighten until snug and
tighten with wrench to seal. DO NOT
OVER-TIGHTEN. (See Figure 7).

Backstop
Slowly turn on water supply while depressing red air release button on filter
head and check for leaks. Allow water to run five (5) minutes with an open
faucet to flush out air.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE
TROUBLESHOOTING
Water leaks at fittings:
Slowly tighten until leak stops.
Water leaks at Push-In connections:
Push tube in as far as it will go. If leaking
continues, turn off water and remove
water line by pushing in on connector
collar while pulling the tube away.
(See Using Push-In Fittings.) Inspect tube.
If tube is cracked or scratched, cut off
damaged end as straight as possible and
reinsert new tube end into fitting.
CLEANING:
The exterior of your filtration system
can be cleaned with warm, soapy water.
Rinse well with fresh, clean water. Never
use chemical cleaning products on the
system’s exterior surface as they may
damage the housing.
FILTER REPLACEMENT
We recommend replacing the AO-MF-B-R
filter every 6 months and earlier if there
is a significant drop in water pressure.
Do not use with water that is microbiologically
unsafe or of unknown water quality without
adequate disinfection before or after the
system. Systems certified for cyst reduction
may be used on disinfected waters that may
contain filterable cysts.

TIP: Before changing the filter, turn off the water
supply. Place a bucket under filtration system to
catch the small amount that will run out after
housing removal.
If a non - A. O. Smith brand filter is used, installer
must ensure the replacement filter is appropriate.
1. Turn off water.
2. Relieve pressure in housing by pushing
red air release button.
3. Unscrew housing and remove old filter.
Wash housing thoroughly with mild
soap and water. Rinse thoroughly.
4. Insert new filter and re-install housing.
Ensure filter is seated in the housing
before tightening onto head.
5. Hand tighten until snug. Use filter
wrench supplied to fully tighten if
needed. DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN.
6. Turn on water. If leaks appear, tighten
housing as needed.
7. Flush the system for 5 minutes.

What is covered:
This warranty covers defects in materials
or workmanship in manufacturing of your
A. O. Smith drinking water filter systems,
except as provided below.
For how long:
This warranty runs for 365 days from
the date of purchase by a consumer
(“Warranty Period”).
What is not covered:
This warranty does not cover filter
cartridges and any products that were
not installed in compliance with the
instructions or that have been abused
or operated incorrectly. The limited
warranty stated herein is in lieu of any
and all warranties, express or implied,
whether written or oral, including but
not limited to the implied warranties of
fitness for a particular purpose or the
implied warranty of merchantability.
A. O. Smith shall not be liable for any
incidental, consequential, special or
contingent damages arising directly or
indirectly from any defect or the use of
the system. Owner shall be responsible for
all labor and any other expenses related
to the removal, repair or installation of
the filtration system or any component
part. Finally, this warranty is voided if the
product is used with parts that are not
genuine A. O. Smith parts. This includes,
but is not limited to: replacement filters,
faucets, and diverter valves.
What A. O. Smith will do:
We will replace the defective part of the
covered product and send it to you with
installation instructions upon payment
of $9.50 for shipping and handling per
incident.

representative who will verify that the
product is under warranty and arrange

consequential damages, so the above

Antes de la instalación:
• No instale este sistema de filtración donde
la presión de la tubería pueda superar
los 689 kPa (100 psi). El rango de presión
de funcionamiento para este sistema de
filtración es entre 172 kPa y 689 kPa (25 psi
y 100 psi).
• Instale solo en tuberías de agua fría
(4.4 a 37.8 °C [40 a 100 °F]).
• Proteja la unidad del congelamiento.
• Se recomienda que instale su sistema
en interiores, lejos de la luz solar directa.
La exposición prolongada a la luz puede
debilitar los componentes de plástico,
lo que provocará la falla de la carcasa
del filtro.

Asegúrese de que las presiones de
funcionamiento estén dentro de las

12 GUÍA DE INSTALACIÓN
Instale el conector adaptador de llave a la llave (Figura 1).
Para evitar daños al conector, no apriete en exceso.
Inserte una sección de tubo de plástico en el conector y
asegúrese de que el extremo del tubo esté
firmemente instalado en el tope de detención.
Deslice la tuerca hexagonal de compresión y el casquillo
en un extremo del tubo y agregue el inserto de tubo.
(Consulte la Figura 2).
Apriete este conjunto en la salida del suministro
de agua de 3/8". No apriete en exceso. Apretar en
exceso causará que el tubo se separe del conector.
CONSEJO
Retire los elementos que estén bajo el fregadero.
Coloque un cuenco ahí para recolectar pequeñas
cantidades de agua que pueden salir cuando
desconecte las tuberías de suministro de agua.

Cierre el suministro de agua fría.
Retire el conector o tubo existentes
del lado de agua fría de la llave.
Monte holgadamente la carcasa del
filtro en el cabezal del filtro e instale
el soporte del filtro. Use este conjunto
para marcar una ubicación bajo el
fregadero para permitir un acceso fácil
para el reemplazo del filtro.
Deje suficiente espacio para usar la
llave para la carcasa, más un mínimo de
6.4 cm (2 1/2") de espacio libre bajo la
unidad para permitir el reemplazo
del filtro. Una vez hecho esto, desmonte
los componentes para su instalación.

Envuelva cinta Teflon®(2-1/2 vueltas) hacia la derecha
alrededor de los conectores a presión de 3/8" e
instálelos en el cabezal del filtro (Figura 4).
No use sellador de tuberías (grasa), ya que los
solventes en algunos tipos de grasa para tuberías
pueden causar daños a los conectores de plástico.
Inserte la tubería de agua en el puerto marcado
“IN” (Entrada) (Figura 5, A) e inserte la tubería
de la llave en el puerto marcado “OUT” (Salida)
(Figura 5, B). Inserte el tubo de plástico en los
conectores y asegúrese de que el extremo
del tubo esté firmemente instalado en
el tope de detención.

Uso de los conectores a presión
Empuje el tubo lo más adentro que pueda.
El tubo se debe insertar más allá de la junta
tórica y debe golpear el tope de detención.
Tire del tubo para asegurarse de que
esté firme.
Para soltar el tubo
Para soltar el tubo, empuje el anillo
metálico gris hacia adentro. Con el anillo
metálico afirmado, tire del tubo recto
hacia afuera.

Instale el soporte en el cabezal del filtro
con los cuatro tornillos de cabeza Phillips
que se proporcionan (Figura 6). Si perfora
previamente los orificios, use el soporte
como una plantilla para las ubicaciones de
los orificios para los tornillos.
Coloque el filtro en la carcasa (Figura 7).
Alinee la carcasa con el cabezal del filtro
y atorníllela en el cabezal. Apriete con la
mano hasta que esté ajustada y apriete con
la llave para sellar. NO APRIETE EN EXCESO.

Tope de detención
Lentamente abra el suministro de agua mientras presiona el botón de liberación de
aire rojo en el cabezal del filtro y revise si hay fugas. Permita que el agua corra durante
cinco (5) minutos con la llave abierta para purgar el aire.

RESOLUCIÓN DE PROBLEMAS
Hay fugas de agua en los conectores:
Apriete lentamente hasta que se
detenga la fuga.
Hay fugas de agua en las conexiones
a presión:
Empuje el tubo lo más adentro que
pueda. Si continúan las fugas, cierre el
suministro de agua y empuje el col-
larín del conector mientras tira del tubo
hacia afuera para retirar la tubería de
agua. (Consulte Uso de los conectores a
presión). Inspeccione el tubo. Si el tubo
está agrietado o rayado, corte el extremo
dañado lo más recto posible y vuelva a
insertar el nuevo extremo del tubo en el
conector.
LIMPIEZA:
Puede limpiar el exterior de su sistema
de filtración con agua tibia con jabón.
Enjuague bien con agua limpia y fresca.
Nunca use productos químicos de limp-
ieza en la superficie exterior del sistema,
ya que puede dañar la carcasa.
No usar con agua que no sea
microbiológicamente segura o cuya calidad
sea desconocida sin la desinfección previa o
posterior adecuada del sistema. Es posible
usar sistemas certificados para la reducción
de quistes en aguas desinfectadas que
puedan tener quistes filtrables.

REEMPLAZO DEL FILTRO
Recomendamos reemplazar el filtro AO-MF-B-R cada 6 meses y antes si hay una
reducción significativa en la presión de agua.
CONSEJOS
Antes de cambiar el filtro, corte el suministro de agua. Coloque una cubeta bajo el sistema de filtración
para recolectar la pequeña cantidad de agua que saldrá después de retirar la carcasa. Si se usa un filtro
que no sea de A. O. Smith, el instalador debe garantizar que el filtro de reemplazo sea adecuado.
1. Cierre el suministro de agua.
2. Presione el botón de liberación de
aire rojo para aliviar la presión en la
carcasa.
3. Destornille la carcasa y retire el filtro
antiguo. Lave la carcasa minucio-
samente con jabón suave y agua.
Enjuague completamente.
4. Inserte el filtro nuevo y vuelva a in-
stalar la carcasa. Asegúrese de que el
filtro esté asentado en la carcasa antes
de apretarlo en el cabezal.
5. Apriete con la mano hasta que esté
ajustado. Si es necesario, use la llave
para filtro que se suministra para apre-
tar completamente.
NO APRIETE EN EXCESO.
6. Abra el suministro de agua. Si apare-
cen fugas, apriete la carcasa según sea
necesario.
7. Lave el sistema por 5 minutos.

Lo que está cubierto:
Esta garantía cubre defectos en materiales
o en la mano de obra de la fabricación de
sus sistemas de filtrado de agua potable
de A. O. Smith, salvo según se estipula a
continuación.
Duración:
Esta garantía dura 365 días a partir
de la fecha de compra por parte del
consumidor (“Período de garantía”).
Lo que no está cubierto:
Esta garantía no cubre cartuchos filtrantes
y ningún producto que se haya instalado
sin cumplir con las instrucciones o que
se haya abusado u operado de manera
incorrecta. La garantía limitada que se
indica en este documento reemplaza
cualquiera y todas las garantías, expresas
o implícitas, ya sea por escrito o en
forma oral, lo que incluye, entre otras,
las garantías implícitas de idoneidad
para un propósito en particular o la
garantía implícita de comerciabilidad.
A. O. Smith no será responsable por
ningún daño indirecto, emergente,
especial o contingente que surja directa
o indirectamente de cualquier defecto
o uso del sistema. El propietario será
responsable por toda la mano de obra
y cualquier otro gasto relacionado con
el retiro, reparación o instalación del
sistema de filtración o de cualquier pieza
componente. Por último, se anulará
esta garantía si el producto se usa con
piezas que no sean originales de A. O.
Smith. Esto incluye, entre otros, filtros de
repuesto, llaves y válvulas de cambio.
Lo que A. O. Smith hará:
Reemplazaremos la pieza defectuosa del
producto cubierto y se la enviaremos con
las instrucciones de instalación después
del pago de USD 9.50 por el envío y
manipulación por incidente.

del Período de garantía y describir el

Esta garantía otorga derechos específicos,
pero es posible que tenga otros derechos
que varían según el estado. Algunos
estados no permiten la exclusión o
