1. Carefullyliftupleveronthebackofconnector
2. AlignFPCcablewithcircuit(gold)sidefacingup,andpushitintoconnector
3. Stopwhencablereachesshownposition.Donotforcecablefurtherintotheconnector
4. Whilekeepingcablealigned,pushbackonthelevertolockcableinside
IftestingwiththeboardonthebackofLCD,makesuretoplacepaperorsomeothernon‐conductive
materialbetween.Orelse,theboardwillshortcircuitwiththealuminumbackofthepanel.


Improperconnectionexamples

Leftimage:Cablenotalignedcorrectly,notfullyinserted.Poweringuplikethiswilllikelyburnthepanel.
Rightimage:Cableinsertedcircuit(gold)sidedown,thisisincorrect.
ExternalPower5Vsource
Whenarrangingmanypanelsinarray,itseasiertosourceasingle5Vconnectorforallpanelsandavoid
USBcablemess.

Astandard2.54mm(0.1”)pinheaderconnectionisprovidedforthispurpose.Usercansolderinpin
headerorwiresdirectly.Left‐sideispositive(+)andrightsideisnegative(‐).Thefollowing3pads(tx,
GND,rx)areNOTrelatedtopowerand5Vmustnotbeconnectedtothematanytime.Thesepadsare
foremergencyfirmwarerecoveryordebugging.


For firmware update on unsupported or niche OS (ex. Linux), one might be able to use DFU-
UTIL from http://dfu-util.gnumonks.org/.Thismethodisnotsupportedandnotdocumented
here.
Upgradeprocedure
Removepower(UnplugUSBordisconnectexternal5V),andpressandHOLDPowerbutton,
whileconnectingUSBcable.Firmwareupdateonexternal5VpowerisNOTsuported.
StatusLEDwilllightupREDandremainlit,andnewdevicewillinstall“STDeviceinDFUmode”
StartDFuseDemoapplication
Inthe“Upgradeorverify”boxintheGUI,makesuretouncheckVerifyAfterdownload,if
checked
Chooseupgradefile,wouldbecalledlike“highres_rev1.dfu”
Click“Upgrade”button
Whileupgrading,LEDwillflashgreenandreddependingonmode.
Whenfinished,unplugandreconnectUSB.
 


WhenconnectedbyUSBorexternal5Vsource,adapterdefaultstofullpoweron,withstatusLED
glowingBLUE.
OnepressonpowerbuttonwillswitchtoSTANDBYmode,whichturnsoffbacklight,butkeeps
DisplayPortconnection.Thismodeisusedtokeeppowerconsumptionlower,ortosavebacklight
lifetime.Inthismode,statusLEDisglowingRED.
Tofullyturnofftheadapter(includingdisconnectfromDisplayPortsignals),pressthepowerbutton
twice.

SincemostcommonusecasedoesnotinvolvedisconnectingfromDisplayPort(asthiswouldcause
othermonitorstoflickerwhiledisplayadapterisreconfiguring),ifadapterisinstandbymodeformore
thanafewseconds,pressingthepowerbuttonreturnstoFullpowermode,turningonbacklight.

fewseconds,pressingPoweragainwillgobacktoFULLpowermode(BLUELED).

