4 Operation of the DS210
Plug the power cord into the power supply pack. Plug the power cord into the power plug. Plug the low
tension connector of the power supply pack into the plug socket at the back of the DS210 on the left side
(see picture 2). The device is now ready for operation.
NOTE
Disconnection of the equipment from the line voltage is done by
pulling the mains plug.
4.1 Status LED of the DS210
The status LED of the DS210 are placed at the front.
Pic. 1: Status LED of the DS210
4.1.1 POWER
The POWER LED glows green when the DS210 is supplied with voltage via power supply pack.
4.1.2 CHARGE
The LED CHARGE is red when the M210 is being charged. When the M210 is completely charged, the LED
becomes green. For correct display, the M210 has to be switched off. When the M210 is switched on, the
LED CHARGE might possibly glow red, although the battery is already charged.
4.1.3 2. BATTERY
The LED 2. BATTERY glows red when the replacement battery is being charged. Then the replacement
battery is charged, the LED glows green.

DS210_HardwareDocu_V1.50_EN.doc 7 / 20
4.1.4 CONNECT
The CONNECT LED has a different meaning for each of the four device versions.
At the DS210 Standard the CONNECT LED glows green when the USB slave conductor has established a
connection with the PC as well as with the M210. It is not checked if the software driver is also loaded for the
connection!
At the DS210 Ethernet the CONNECT LED blinks green, when the DS210 is connected with the network
cable to the LAN (Ethernet) and the M210 has loaded the Ethernet driver. The CONNECT LED has the
same function as the green Link LED at the network connector (RJ45 with two integrated LED) at the back of
the unit.
At the DS210 Modem 56K TTL the CONNECT LED glows green when the analogue modem has established
a connection.
At the DS210 ISDN this LED can be compared with the status LED at standard ISDN adapters. The
CONNECT LED glows when the ISDN adapter has established a physical connection with the ISDN
conductor, this means when the ISDN RJ45 connecting cable is plugged in the plug socket of the ISDN
network as well as in the RJ45 connector of the DS210. The signaling of the CONNECT LED can also be
programmed inverted.
4.1.5 LED on the RJ45 connector
At the DS210 Ethernet two LED are integrated in the RJ45 connector at the back of the unit. The green LED
is the Link LED. It blinks when the DS210 is connected to the LAN (Ethernet) with a network cable and the
M210 has loaded the Ethernet driver. The yellow LED is the Tx LED. This one blinks when data are
transferred from the M210 via DS210 into the LAN.

4.3 Remove the M210 out of the docking station DS210
Pic. 4: Remove the M210 out of the docking station DS210
ATTENTION
The charging and communication contacts are sensible!! Please
remove the device only as descibed above. Do not touch the
contacts! Not with your fingertips nor with tools like ball pen,
screwdriver etc.
4.4 Data transfer via USB to a PC
A usual USB A-B cable is used. Plug the USB-B plug of the cable in the USB-B connector of the DS210 and
the USB-A connector of the cable in the PC. A connection via USB with ActiveSync from Microsoft is
possible from version number 3.7.
ATTENTION
You have to wait at least 3s between taking out the M210 and
placing it in the docking station again. Otherwise the ActiveSync
connection might possibly not be established properly. As the
Connect LED does not check if the driver is being loaded, it will
show a connection in this case anyway!
4.5 Connection of a USB end device
USB end devices can be connected to the USB-A connector of the DS210. The driver of the USB memory
stick is integrated in the image of the M210 by default. A USB memory stick will be recognized automatically
as a further drive of Windows CE.
Other software drivers for other USB end devices can be integrated by ACD in the image of the M210 on
request.
4.6 Connection to the Ethernet (optional interface)
Plug the network cable in the RJ45 connector with the LED at the back of the DS210. After placing the M210
in the DS210 wait approx. 15s until the USB Ethernet driver has loaded completely. After these 15s the Icon
USB Ethernet driver (MOSUSBCE1) will appear in the task bar. You can modificate different settings when
double-clicking this Icon.
Via DHCP an IP address can be assigned automatically to the M210 in the DS210. Alternatively a fix IP
address can also be entered manually.
