There are 2 models in this series of adapter cards:
• ALN-325: With full package
• ALN-325c: Without Wake-On-LAN cable, others are the same as ALN-325
Introduction
The 10/100 Based-TX Fast Ethernet Adatper card is a 32-bit 10/100 Mbps
Ethernet network interface card for PCI local bus-compliant PCs. The auto-
negotiation feature makes it possible to combine one common type of
Ethernet cabling-an RJ-45 connector for twisted-pair cabling that can be
used for both 10 Mbps and 100 Mbps connection. Extensive driver for
commonly used network operating systems are also provided.

Software Drivers Support

Hardware Description
The 10/100 Fast Ethernet PCI Adatper has an RJ-45 connector, and three
LED indicators:
LAN Connectors
The adapter supports IEEE 802.3 10BASE-T and 100BASE-TX. It provides
an RJ-45 connector for twisted-pair cabling. Data transfer speed is
automatically determined by the adapter.

LED indicators
Activity LED Indicator (ACT)
Color: Green
Function: Incoming network traffic indicator
This LED flashes to indicate the presence of network packets coming
through the connected port.
Link 100 Status LED Indicator (100)
Color: Green
Function: Link status indicator for 100Mbps port
This LED lights up to indicate a successful 100Mbps network connection.
Link 10 Status LED Indicator (10)
Color: Green
Function: Link status indicator for 10 Mbps port
This LED lights up to indicate a successful 10Mbps Network Connection.
Driver Installation
The Readme.TXT in the root directory is the listing of driver programs in this
driver diskette. The drivers for different network operating systems are
contained in \Txt.directory. Refer to *.TXT file for detail driver instructions.
Windows 98 Installation
1. When you plug the ALN-325 in the mother board and power on the
Windows 98, the 'Add New Hardware Wizard' window will
promote and says that

2. In the 'Add New Hardware Wizard' window, click 'Next' then it will ask
you 'What do you want Windows to do?' Choose the item that Display
a list of all the drivers in a specific location, so you can select the

driver you want.
Click 'Next'.
3. And select 'Network Adapters' for the device, then click 'Next'. It will
promot a 'Select device' window.
4. Click 'Have Disk' button.
In the 'Install From Disk' window, put the driver disk in the floppy drive
and enter the driver path i.e. 'a:\w98&2000' in combo list and click
'OK'. It will show 'AcerLAN ALN-325 10/100 Base-TX Fast Ethernet
adapter' in the Models field of 'Select Device' window. Click 'OK'.
5. There will show 'A:\W98&2000\ALN325.INF' in the Location of driver
field for the device 'AcerLAN ALN-325 10/100 Base-TX Fast Ethernet
Adapter' in the 'Add New Hardware Wizard' window. Click 'Next'.
6. Specify the path of the driver files i.e. a:\W98&2000, then the
Windows will copy the necessary files for the driver and system files.
Click 'Finish'.
7. Select the appropriate Connection type (default is Auto-Negotiation).
Click 'OK'.
8. Install necessary files from Windows 98 CD for the network operation.
9. When the driver installation is completed, restart Windows 98.
Troubleshooting
If the adapter fails the diagnostic test, it may not be defective; other reasons
may cause the card to fail the test. This section provides tips to isolate and
solve these common problems.
If the problem remains unsolved, contact your local dealer. Write a
description of the problem, including what problems occurred, when they
occurred, duration of the problem, the product number, serial number,
hardware, software and DOS version you are using.

Possible Causes
1. Bad cable connection
2. Host PC slot defective
Suggestions
1. Check cabling for loose connection or wrong pin assignments on
the cable.
2. Check if the adapter is properly seated onto the computer slot.
3. Install the adapter in another PC, or install it on another slot. If
the problem is eliminated, then the original PC slot is defective.
Contact your PC vendor for assistance.

Product Limited Warranty
Acer Netxus Incorporated (ANI) warrants its product to be free from defects in
materials and workmanship, under normal use and service, for the following lengths
of time from the date of purchase from ANI or its Authorized Resellers.
Network adapter card Limited Lifetime
All products with limited lifetime warranty have a standard five-year warranty. This
warranty does not cover the product if it is damaged by abuse, accident, misuse,
improper installation, or improper testing. If a product does not operate as
warranted during the applicable warranty period, ANI shall, at its option and
expense, either repair the defective product or part returned to ANI, or deliver to
customer an equivalent product or part to replace the defective item. Definitely, all
products that are replaced will become the property of ANI. Replacement products
may be new or reconditioned. Any replacement or repaired product or part has a
ninety days warranty or the remainder of the initial warranty period, whichever is
longer. ANI shall not be responsible for any software, firmware, information, or
memory data of customer contained in, stored on, or integrated with any products
returned to ANI pursuant to any warranty. Before you obtain warranty service, you
must request an RMA (Return Materials Authorization) number by calling, faxing or
writing ANI’s Customer Service Department at the numbers listed below. You must
use the original container (or the equivalent) and pay the shipping charge.
ANI SHALL NOT BE HELD LIABLE FOR INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL,
INDIRECT, SPECIAL OR RUNTIME DAMAGES OF ANY KIND; OR FOR LOSS
