Thisequipmentgeneratesandusesradiofrequencyenergyandifnotinstalledandusedproperly,thatis,in
strictaccordancewiththemanufacturer'sinstinctions,maycauseinterferencetoradioandtelevision
reception.Ithasbeentypetestedandfoundtocomplywiththelimitsfora ClassB computingdevice111
accordancewiththespecificationinSubpartJ ofPart15ofI CCRules,whicharedesignedtoprovide
reasonableprotectionagainstsuchinterferenceina residentialinstallation.Howeverthereisnoguarantee
thatwillnotoccurringa particularinstallation.Ifthisequipmentdoescauseinterferencetoradioand
televisionreception,whichcanbedeterminedbyturningtheequipmentoffand011,theuserisencouragedto
trytocorrecttheinterferencebyoneormoreofthefollowingmeasures:
*Reorientthereceivingantenna.
*Changetheorientationofthecomputer.
*Movethecomputerawayfromthereceiver.
*Plugthecomputerintoa differentoutletsothecomputerandreceiverareondifferentbranch
circuits.
Iftheseattemptsareunsuccessful,installoneorallofthefollowingdevises;
1.Lineisolationtransformers.
2.Linefilters.
3.Electro-magneticshielding.
Ifnecessary,theusershouldconsultthedealeroranexperiencedradio/ televisiontechnicianfor

Step1.Turnoffthesystemandailperipheraldevices.
Step2.Disconnectthepowercordandallperipheraldevicesfromthe
system.
Step3.Removethesystemcover,andidentifyanunused16bitslot.
Step4.Settingthejumpersonthesoundcardifyouwouldliketochangc
thedefaultsettingsfromthefactory.Notethatmakessurethe
settingsyouselectedarccorrectotherwisewerecommenditas
thedefaultsettings.
Step5.Unscrewtheslotcoverplate,pluginthesoundcard,andlighten
itwiththescrew.
Step6.Ifyouhavespeakersoramplifiers,plugthecableintoJ6jackon
thebackofthesoundcard.
Ifyoudonotneedtoconnecta CD-ROMdevicetothesoundcard,disable
CD-ROMI/Oportbysettingallthejumpersof\S1?to"ON"position.Put
backthesystemcover,reconnectthesystempowercordandallperipheral
devices.Checkandmakesureallconnectionsarecorrectbeforeyouturn
onthesvstcm.
Ifyouneedtoinstalla CD-ROMdrive.Pleasefollow thestepsbelow:

IfyouwouldliketoredirecttheaudioforthePCspeakertotheexternal
speakersattachedtothesoundcard,pleasefollowthestepsbelow:
•UnplugthecableofthePCspeakerfromthePCspeakerconnectoron
thesystemMotherboard.
•Usingthecableprovided,connectJ1andthePCspeakerconnector
onthesystemmotherboard.
Thereisnoguaranteethatthisoptionworksforallmotherboards.Ifyou
runintodifficulty,pleaseconsultyoursystemmanagerorthe
manufacturerofyoursystemmotherboard.
IncaseyouneedtousethePCspeakerastheonlyspeakerforthesound
card,pleasefollowthestepsbelow:
•UnplugthecableofthePCspeakerfromthePCspeakerconnectoron
thesystemMotherboard.
•ConnectthecableofthePCspeakertoJ3onthesoundcard.
IfyouarecurrentlyusingthePCspeakerforthesoundcardandneedto
changetoexternalspeaker,makesurethatthecableofthePCspeakeris
disconnectedfromJ3andreconnectedtothemotherboard.

4.SoftwareInstallation
BeforeproceedingwithaudioandCD-ROMsoftwareinstallation,please
checkthesoftwarediskettesthatcomewiththecard.
CD-ROMSoftware- onediskette,labeled "CD-ROMDeviccDriver&
AudioUtility".ItincludesdevicedriversandCDaudioplaybackutilities
fordifferenttypesofCD-ROMdrive.Italsocontainsoureasy-to-use
generalinstallationroutine.
AudioApplicationsSoftware- 2 diskettes(disk#1,disk#2).Allthe
audiodevicedriversandapplicationsforWindowsareincludedinthese
twodiskettes.
Section 4.1 describes how to use our easy-to-use installation routine to install
CD-ROM drive and audio device drivers,
Sections 4,2, 4,3, 4A, 4.5 contain information that would allow you to
manually install the different type of CD-ROM device driver, or to optimize
the performance of the CD-ROM drive,
4.1QuickInstallation
Thediskettelabeled"CD-ROMDeviceDriver& AudioUtility",
containsa programnamedINSTALL.EXEundertherootdirectory.
PleaseinsertthedisketteintothedriveA orB.AssumingdriveA isused,
atthesystemprompt,type:
A:\install[ENTER]
Followtheonscreeninstructionsandyoushouldbeabletoinstallthe
audiodevicedriver,audioapplicationsoftwareandCD-ROMdevice
drivereasilyina fewminutes.
Uponcompletionoftheinstallationroutine,pleaseremoveallthefloppy
diskettesfromyourdriveandrestartthesystem.Allthedriversyoujust
selectedwillbeloadedontoyourcomputer.

formoreinformation.Repeatthequickinstallationormanuallyinstallthe
driver.

ThefollowingsectionsshowyouhowtoinstallCD-ROMdevicedriver
softwareandutilitysoftware(forplayingmusicCDusingyourCD-ROM
drive).
YouneedtogothroughthefollowingsectionstoinstalltheCD-ROM
softwareonlyifyouareinstallinga newCD-ROMdrive*
IfyouaresimplyconnectinganexistingCD-ROMdrivetooursoundcard
withpre-installeddevicedriversoftware,skipthefollowingsections.You
shouldbeabletouseyourexistingCD-ROMdriveafteritisphysically
connectedtoourcardwiththeproperI/Oaddressselected,(SeeSec.1-3)

devicedriversoftwareand,OPTIONALLY,theMicrosoftMS-DOS
CD-ROMExtensionfile,i.e.,MSCDEX.EXEAnothersubdirectory
MKEAUDIOcontainstheMKEaudioutilitiesinorderforyoutouse
theCD-ROMdriveasanaudioCDplayer.Pleasefollowstepsbelowto
installthedriver& utilities:

Toinstalltheaudioutility,youmayinsertthediskettetothedrive
thatyouselected.ThenchangetoA orB drive,wherethefloppy
disketteisin,byenteringthefollowingcommandatthesystem

otheronthelist.Justmakesurethatthesoftwareinterruptselected
doesnotconflictwithanyotherinterruptusedbyothersoftware
programs.
Uponsuccessfulcompletionoftheinstallation,youshouldfind
MKECDAPL.EXE,CDPLAY.BAT,ESSVOL.EXEunderthe
subdirectorythatyouselectedorcreatedonyourharddisk.Touse
yourCD-ROMdriveasa regularaudioCDplayer,simpleexecute
